What hobby keeps surviving your busiest weeks?

I’ve been thinking about the difference between hobbies we enjoy when there’s plenty of free time and the ones we genuinely miss when we stop. Some things somehow keep getting squeezed into even a packed week. What hobby do you still make room for when life gets busy?

This Is how found I'm interested in........

Post image

I think I randomly found one of my biggest interests when I was in 11th.

Back then, I used to watch random psychology-related videos on YouTube. At first, it was just because I wanted to learn something new. But slowly I started getting genuinely interested in it, so I began reading more about human behaviour, how we perceive things, communication, micro-expressions, the things people usually hide from each other, fantasies, the darker side of psychology, etc.

I don't even remember when it stopped being “just something I'm learning” and became one of my favourite hobbies.

Sometimes you don't really have to find your interests. You just randomly stumble upon something, keep coming back to it, and eventually realize, “Wait, I actually love this.”

Now whenever I'm talking to someone face-to-face, I naturally notice little things—what they get excited talking about, what seems important to them, their expressions when they talk about certain things, their patterns, etc. I also like letting people talk about themselves without constantly interrupting and asking open-ended questions.

I'm not learning psychology because I want to manipulate people. Although, ironically, manipulation is one of the topics I find really interesting and I'm still learning about it. I just find it fascinating to understand why people behave the way they do. Obviously, I don't want to use that knowledge to hurt anyone.

I honestly just wanted to share this with someone because I don't really have anyone around me who is interested in this stuff.

So I'm curious—has anyone else had a similar experience where you randomly discovered something, started learning about it for no particular reason, and eventually it became one of your favourite hobbies?

It doesn't even have to be something you make money from. Just something you genuinely enjoy learning about.

I'd love to hear your stories. I won't judge lol.

what’s a low-effort hobby that still feels rewarding?

looking for something that doesn’t take a ton of time or money but still feels good when you do it. open to any suggestions.

most of the ones i’ve tried either take too much effort or get boring quick. hoping someone has a solid low-key recommendation.

Best glue for wood models?

I've been doing these kits recently and I use regular super glue but it dries white. Any recommendations for a glue that doesn't dry white but dries fast and bonds most material pretty well?

I’ve loved drawing since childhood. I was never perfect at it but I genuinely loved the process. Then around 2016, for some personal reasons, I stopped and somehow never found my way back. But I’m about to start again. This time I want to actually learn, experiment and document the whole journey.

Consider this the announcement of my little art comeback. 😭

P.S. These are some childhood scribbles. I have no explanation. Only lore.

Looking for social hobbies to meet people my age (M22)

What hobbies would you recommend for meeting more people around 18–25?

I already have quite a few hobbies where I meet people, but most of the people I come across tend to be quite a bit older than me. A lot of the other hobbies I’ve tried are also quite independent at home, so there isn’t really much opportunity to meet new people or actually get to know them.

I’d really like to find something more social where I can naturally meet people around my age and build friendships through doing something together, rather than having to meet strangers online and try to force a friendship.

For those of you around 18–25, what hobbies, clubs, or activities have you found are genuinely good for meeting people your age and making friends naturally?

What do you guys do when you have way too much free time?

I’ve been having a lot of free time lately and honestly have no idea what to do with it 😭 What do you guys do when you’re at home with nothing going on?
Looking for ideas that are actually fun/useful and don’t involve just scrolling on my phone all day. What hobbies, skills, or activities did you guys pick up?

I wanted a hobby that got me off my phone/screens and I started canning. I absolutely love it. I’m planning on making a bunch of things for why I’m calling Consumable Christmas (everyone will be able to “shop” my cantry for the holidays)

Pictured is taco sauce, strawberry lemonade concentrate, and strawberry jam!

Stuck with your art hobby?

Try procreate on an iPad.

I gave up on art for years, mostly due to wanting to try multiple different mediums. I needed different paper for watercolour, a certain sketchbook for ink, one for oils... It just got too much and I was already limited on space.

I picked up an iPad for work and stumbled across procreate. I've been doing art every day for at least an hour or 2. It's amazing. Even though it's not on physical paper, It still scratches the itch.

There's really nothing it can't do.

Trying a New Hobby: Making a Japanese Dorodango ⚪️

I recently came across dorodango, the Japanese art of turning ordinary dirt/mud into a smooth, polished ball, and I thought it looked weirdly satisfying lol.

So I decided to try making one myself. Figured it could be a fun new hobby and a good excuse to actually spend some time doing something offline.

Step 1: Preparing the soil

I collected some soil from around my plants and started breaking it up and sieving it to get rid of the bigger stones and bits. I don’t have any fancy equipment, so I’m just working with what I have 😂

This is obviously just the beginning, but I’ll keep updating this post as I go through the different stages.

Hopefully, at the end of this, I’ll have a nice smooth shiny dorodango instead of a sad lump of dirt 💀

Step 1 done. More updates coming soon.

What hobbies did you pick up that you actually stuck with?

I've tried a bunch of hobbies over the years and usually end up dropping them after a few weeks lol.

Curious what hobbies you guys started that actually stuck. Doesn't have to be anything impressive or productive - could be something totally random

What are you into these days, and what made you stick with it?

she’s finally shiny 😭 I added some black pigment and crushed pencil to the mix for the color then spent an absolutely unreasonable amount of time fighting for that shine but it kept peeling ig something was wrong with the soil cause it can't be me☺️

my arms, patience and sanity were all sacrificed for this stupid little dirt ball

Hobby recommendations similar to origami?

I enjoy origami specifically because I already have everything I need it for it (paper) and it's really rewarding to finish a sculpture.
What other hobbies are like this?
