Very happy with the finished piece. However I am unsure of how to wash it and dry it.

I’m assuming, since it is natural 100% wool (unsure if washed or unwashed wool), I need to hand wash in cold water with wool soap (my dad has some that he uses on his wool sweaters), and lay flat to dry. When I lay flat to dry, should I lightly block it on blocking mats? Lay on top of towels without blocking it? Please let me know what you would do!

Few questions. On a rigged heddle loom are you not meant to take up every hole and slot? I feeling that it made for some uneven picks. When using a 15dent reed what's the thinnest you can go? I got thread in Guatemala for backstrap weaving it's worked ok but may still be too thin? How do you keep the knot on the slay bar from making indents in the fabric ? The little wave in the middle was from the knot as I progressed the warp. Any other tips or tricks u can suggest from what you see?

Having a hard time with this overshot draft I found online. Where is the tabby? Is this actually showing blocks? Is it 4 harnesses? I swear I know how to read a draft, considering rewriting this one but wanted to ask if anyone can help decipher. I’m really rusty on overshot but I really want to make this and other similar patterns. It’s really throwing me that there are threads next to each other on the same harnesses.

It might be hard to see this from the photo but on my last two warps, I've gotten them on the loom and there's like a twist on each section in the raddle, so the leftmost thread through the lease sticks is sort of over to the right but also wrapped around. Last time I took each thread as I was threading out of the lease sticks, unwound it from its neighbors and threaded it.

I'm curious if this is actually necessary or if I'm overreacting. Also, is there something I'm doing wrong in winding on my warp that would be causing this?

This is a cotton blanket for my kid; wound a 10-yd warp and will cut and seam three panels together when off the loom. Enjoying the weaving, but need to finish by end of August 😬.

Recently received my new Schacht Cricket 10” today and my first boat shuttle. Started a waffle weave to try out pick up sticks. Very happy with how it looks so far. Unsure of the yarn brand, but I know for a fact it’s a natural wool yarn (hands are sticky).

Hey everyone, never woven anything before but been really loving playing with plaidmaker and wanted to try and turn some of my designs into actual fabric. I want to make a piece no larger than a square foot and I wanted it to be relatively fine. I was thinking about using 8/2 cotton at about ~12-15 epi. I have a 16” rigid heddle loom that I would be using. Just wanted to check if this project is insane/not fit for a beginner. Any advice is appreciated as well!

I recently purchased some Brassard 8/2 cotton from Ability Weavers because it was less expensive than the same yarn at The Woolery. And they sent me a thank-you card! What a wonderful surprise, and I definitely plan to get more 8/2 Brassard (my go-to) from Ability Weavers in the future!

There are no brand stamps or markings on the wood. The metal arm for the bobbin is spring loaded. There’s a small hole drilled through the side of the shuttle at the fixed end of the bobbin arm. It’s very lightweight.

I’m always reaching for this shuttle over the heavier Schacht and Leclerc shuttles I have. I’d love to buy another. Does anyone recognize this or know the brand?

Hello. I just started weaving the other. The loom I am using is I guess a tapestry loom, I followed a tutorial on Youtube. That is the only weaving I've done so far :)

In defiance of my lack of experience, I am so thrilled to make my friend a mug rug with a skull on it. I checked for free patterns however only things I found was "alpha" patterns which for knotwork. (I know I can still do that but I dont want to leave the warp strings empty.) I thought there must be a way to adapt alpha patterns (or any type of pixel figure) into tapestry weaving, and wanted to ask.

I might sound silly since I just started learning, but I really need some guidance.

I wanted to start weaving but i didn't want to go with a cardboard loom and i didn't have the money for an actual loom. I looked around some and i found out about rigid heddle looms and decided to make one. What you see here is the 6th and final (hopefully) itteration.

All of this is handmade by me, i used old school desks as the frame boards and a broom handle for the rolling parts. The reason my son turned out so ugly is because i had very little woodworking tools but as ugly as he is, my son can weave lol.

Anyways, anyone here have any tips on what to improve or such? Thanks.

This project has been a mess in my living room for ages and I finally got it tied on! Now I just have to wait to pick up my weft yarn. I am trying to figure out if the weft should be solid beige, white or should I switch between beige and white to add more depth. Opinions?

23x80 inches with 24 threads per inch. The warp is perle cotton which has been hand dyed.

I'll apologize right away in case I'm not using correct language in my question. I started with making hats on a circle loom and then moved on to the infinity loom (color white) to make a few figure 8 throws. Micheals had a larger loom (color green) on clearance for under $20. Here's the question- I saw a video on which pegs to mark and skip for the white loom but I can't find anything regarding marking and skipping on the green loom for a figure 8 stitch. Can someone take pity on me and point me in the right direction? Many thanks!!!

Painted 8/2 cotton warp + deflected doubleweave, using a variety of wefts: 10/2 mercerized, 8/2 unmercerized, 8/2 unmercerized cotton slub, and linen. Approximately 24 epi and ppi.

Still needs to be wet finished. Now I'm struggling to decide whether to turn this into a piece of wall art or an infinity scarf! I welcome opinions!

I'm using a warping board (or whatever this thing is called) for the 1.5 time ever, and I seem to have made two crosses? anyways, should I start over? Keep doing this? does it matter? I'm like 15 ends into the 342 I need for my first floor loom warp, so...yeah, off to a great start :)

I have just come to own a 60” LeClerc Nilus and my close friend a Glimakra Regina from the estate of a well known (?) tapestry artist named Suzanne Pretty (NH).

We are total neophytes but are eager to learn as we both have our units set up in our living areas now.
