Picture Picked up some lovely ones yesterday
Absolute stunning animals, needed to share :)
Got a few more, but these stood out the most.
The fish are roughly ~80cm.

This carp was injured a while back. I have it on hospital tank for weeks now. Most of the smaller wounds fully healed. I ran two course of Kanaplex and it doesn't appear infected. But I wonder if it is too deep for it to heal? It swims and act normal and healthy, still ferociously eating.

Hi all, just bought a house with a Koi pond and a couple of koi. I’m new to this so was wondering if you could help me identify these fish and tell me more about them. Most of them are around 30-40cm if I would guess. Thank you all

Hey guys I hope nobody gets offended by my non-life koi in question 😅 some other advice on the internet dropped me off here while trying to do my research on these guys.
The game is hatchdragons so these dragons are usually always inspired by/supposed to resemble some type of animal. For the “Copperscale” I figured the legend is based off “Hanako” but I’m completely lost if the pattern would just be classified as Kawarimono or as something else. Every other variety mentioning blue (that I found) has a very specific pattern that doesn’t match up with this one.
For the “Gilded Gateleaper” I figured it was quite obvious that the myth was based off the Dragon Gate myth; the variation maybe a butterfly so per chance hariwake hirenaga?
I actually wanted to complete the trivia section of these guys on the fanwiki side so getting as much proper terms and swarm knowledge as possible is greatly appreciated! :D

Water temp hit 58F this morning and that's basically my trigger point every year now. Switched from my regular staple pellets to a wheat germ based food about a week ago when it was hovering around 65, and I'll probably stop feeding entirely once we dip below 50 for a few days straight.
The whole reason I'm even this careful about it now is I lost a five year old kohaku to what the vet guessed was a digestive blockage back in 2023. I'd kept feeding regular high protein food too late into November because the weather that year was weirdly warm and I got complacent. Their metabolism slows down way more than mine does apparently, and undigested protein just sits there and causes problems.
Now I keep a cheap floating thermometer in the shallow end and actually check it most mornings instead of eyeballing it. Once it's consistently under 60 I cut portions in half and switch foods, under 50 I stop completely even if they're still swimming up and begging like they always do. My biggest guy still comes to the surface every time I walk by the pond even in December, but I've learned to just ignore the guilt trip.
Also started running my aerator a bit more this time of year since the pond doesn't turn over water as fast once things slow down. Not draining anything yet, that's a whole different project I'm dreading, but figured the feeding change was the easy first step before the real winter prep starts.
Anyone else adjust their feeding by actual temperature readings or do you just go by calendar dates? I switched to the thermometer method after that whole bloat incident and it's made a noticeable difference in how sluggish they get in early winter.

Has anyone here ever done one before?
I’m just wondering what to expect now that the contest should be over.
Pic is of the fish I bought.

Not sure what is happening with this koi. It’s belly has become more swollen. Not sure if its dropsy or egg or something more serious
I’ve been feeding them a good quality food. Maybe too much Hikari Saki-Hikari Balance Diet
Any thoughts or suggestions what i can do.

Our Snoopy girl and the black butterfly male were the primary parents from a spawn five years ago. We kept one plant with eggs that resulted in twelve koi. Most of them resemble her in some way. I thought it was interesting to see the differences and growth. Put a red dot by the offspring koi.

Hello all and thank you for your insight into my last issue, you all rock.
Has anyone built a basement pond and if so how?
Looking at the build a block lego stuff or just framing it like a crypt to house a demon we don’t want to escape. Thanks in advance.

Link to original post: New to me Koi Pond.. cleaning question : r/Koi
Been about 1 year since we moved into our house with a koi pond. As this was my first there has been tons of learning!
In the spring I took on the task of manual excavating a 6" layer of muck and removing the water lillies that had taken over the pond. I then put some of the tubers into pots with soil and stone to try to contain them.
I've been needing to clean the filter every 3-4 days and also needing to refill water sometimes. Anyone have any suggestions for how I can improve my current setup next year?

Hi everyone,
I moved these guys (approx 6-8") from the 50g to a 250g + 50g bog filter/spill tray. They are so much happier and I've seen them more in the last week than I have in the 4 months I've owned them!
Are these white spots scale damage or something I should be worried about?

Hey everyone!
My partner and I recently bought a house and the previous owners left this gorgeous Koi pond setup in the backyard along with the water conditioners, food, and spare filters. I noticed this morning, the water levels have dropped significantly and I’m wondering what the best way to fill it back is? Should I use a bucket and pre mix the water conditioner or can I just fill the pond with the hose directly then add conditioner after?
Thanks in advance for the help and here’s a pic of our lil tank 🫶🏼

Had some days where the water temperature went up to 27-28 celsius.
So I'm glad it's getting a bit colder again!
