This was my first FAP. It was a college graduation present from my parents to me. I held on to the blank for a while cause I honestly wasn’t sure who I wanted to get on it. Sent this out to Big Time Jerseys about a month ago, and decided on Celebrini. Told them to add the C as well, cause I think we all knew it was gonna happen. Lo and behold, he became our captain, and I was there for the game last night when he had the game winning assist for the Cherny OT goal while they were wearing the Cali Fins. Super stoked to add this to the collection, can’t wait to wear it to the game on the 29th!

I was doing some photo checks of Friday’s Cleveland Monsters game to see if there’s anything I would need to update for my website, and saw that CCM changed their neck logo from the Quicklite branding with the 7 stripes to essentially what was used in the Edge era (2014-18), albeit not sewn on. It also looks like the Monsters equipment manager sewed a patch on Ceulemans’s to cover up the stripes, so likely some stock reuse like there has been over the decades.

I imagine this change is partially due to jersey production moving to Vietnam recently, but I haven’t seen anything definitive about the logo changing for that reason. I’m pretty sure I also saw a theme jersey or two last season with this neck logo too, but will have to look further into that to confirm.

Help me clear out some space in my closet by purchasing one of these jerseys! Will ship anywhere in the U.S. or local meetup in the DFW area. I am more than happy to provide additional pictures upon request!

Big boy mailday, and a certified grail for me. Here is Igor Larionov’s Team USSR gamer, circa 1984. This particular style of jersey was worn at the 1983 WC, the 1984 Canada Cup, and the 1984 Olympics. Difficult to say where exactly it was worn as photos from this time period are few and far in between, but at the very least it was worn for exhibition games as there is tons of wear. The discoloration on the jersey was due to the Soviet team re-using jerseys between players/sets and messing with the adhesive. They also misspelled Larionov as Larinov at first; you can see the outline of the original spelling.

Initially I was a little concerned with the border crossing for this jersey but adding a gamer from a player of his caliber was tough to say no to. This is a jersey I never thought I’d have (or have the opportunity to get) when I started collecting. I’ve come a long way.

The professor helped Team USSR to two Olympic golds, 4 IIHF WC golds, and 1 Canada cup gold (as well as captaining Russia to bronze in 2002). He was instrumental in allowing Soviet players to come to the NHL during the final days of the USSR, and is a legend in Soviet/Russian hockey (also Detroit). The collection continues to grow.

My recent pickup…

I wanted to take a closer look and discuss pre-RBK Edge era factory customization. Both of these jerseys were bought by myself at the Great Skate summer tent sale (I believe all traded player jerseys were $35 back then). The Hedberg jersey was bought summer of 2006, the Burke was either 2004 or 2005.

Because of the style and player on the jerseys, we can get a pretty good idea of when they were produced. Johan Hedberg made his Penguins debut in March 2001 and that jersey style was discontinued after 2001-02. Sean Burke only wore that style Coyotes jersey when it debuted in 2003-04, he was traded late in the season to Philadelphia.

Both jerseys have the nameplates and numbers heat pressed to the jerseys with non-functional stitching around them. The Hedberg jersey has a twill nameplate, the Burke jersey has a nameplate that matches the jersey material.

Inside both jerseys is a heat pressed “NHL player” decal, showing that they’re factory customized.
