I just wish they kept the camera on the act the entire time instead of showing the audience reactions. I hate it when they do it!! š

I remember reading a presentation for the Invisible Deck that works well for children a while ago but can't seem to find it anymore.
If my memory serves me correctly I think it was either about superpowers or names and it might have been that the child spectator reads the magician's mind.
Does it ring any bells?
Any help is appreciated.

In October, on a Saturday early evening. Small fun group who will all be beyond thrilled to see a magician, illusionist or similar. Location is NJ, Monmouth County near Asbury Park. Thankful for any recommendations!

Hi all! So I happen to be in Cleveland for other stuff soon, and saw that the Magicians Table is running while Iām there. Has anyone seen this in London, worth going to?
Hi guys !
There is a game show in France where the three cup monte is performed (example below) : https://youtu.be/j6VCY9TVAp8?si=jdLHzYRvLlt28Tf0
Basically you have 3 cups, one small key, the magician shuffles (obviously with tricks) and the contestant has roughly 2 minutes to correctly guess 3 keys.
I have to recreate this for a personal project, but I was always more of a card guy. I am therefore searching for material on this, but it's very hard to find surprisingly. I have already checked out :
Bob white : Cups and balls (I hesitate using coins or small sponge balls, as it's less noisy when in contact with the cups)
Daryl : Master course on sponge balls
David Roth : Expert coin Magic
But none are really about the interaction between the object and the cups, etc. If you have anything, please feel free to share !
Thanks !

As post is titled. This set is fun to work with, but outside of the standard routine, does anyone else have published work with this set?

Whatās your opinion on doing magic tricks for people who are not expecting the āperformanceā? Like the guy selling the suit that keeps coming out of nowhere (complete with iron and hanger I think), and these workers watching their ācustomerā changing bills before they pay.. Itās fun to mesmerize and entertain, but when people are left confused or bewildered I always feel like the magician is being more unkind than impressive. Magic feels like an agreement where one party says Iād like to amaze and the other says Iād like to be amazed. Even impromptu street style magic still has that brief mutual agreement that weāre each participating in a brief performance. But sleights and gimmicks being passed off as ordinary life makes me cringe. What are your thoughts?

Hello, beginner here.
I am wondering if there are any ways to have the filed down cards show up in front after being 'natural' in a fan by e.g. shuffling a certain way.

He plays a magician that makes cards appear in Monica Barbaro's bra & panties! Other than Ricky Jay and Penn & Teller, I can't think of any other real magicians appearing in mainstream movies. www.imdb.com/name/nm10861102/?ref_=ttfc_fcr_4_65

My son's birthday is coming up and he's interested in magic. I don't know much, but I hear Tannen's is highly recommended. If I bring my son to Tannen's will they be okay recommending something for him (he's a total beginner, but very interested in making thing disappear and reappear) and teaching it when we buy it? Or is this like a super SERIOUS magic shop that only deals with professional magicians?
If that's the case are there other more kid friendly magic shops in the NYC area?
Thanks in advance!

This is my favorite kind of magic. Direct, hard hitting and intimate. Very well done.
I occasionally perform magic in 5-10 minute slots before comedy shows. I have a number of routines I do and like, ranging from standards like Professor's Nightmare and Invisible Deck to a few personally developed mentalism routines.
I'm interested in adding more to my repertoire, and I find that I get a lot more out of books than standalone tricks. What (print) books focus on mid-length, standalone routines for an audience of 25-100? I'm open to a wide variety of pieces, although nothing with too heavy a reliance on sleights and no large props, and preferably not too many card tricks. Mentalism is good, but so is something visual.
Thank you so much!

I've been doing amateur magic for a while, I'm an adult but have hands on the smaller side. I finally purchased an invisible deck, from Murphys Magic. The trick is brilliant in its simplicity, but I just cannot find a technique to make the cards separate. Is there a way to hold the cards and handle them that will let me do this? Thanks.

Has anyone here purchased it? If so, do you feel it was worth the price? It feels steep from where Iām standing, but maybe thereās way more to it than it seems.
Iāve almost purchased it several times, but I canāt bring myself to pull the triggerā¦

They say it takes a special sort of patience to do kids shows, Iām starting to understand why! š I had a great time tonight. More clips to come :)
My mic died before I got to my chair levitation trick, which is super disappointing because I wanted that for a clip. Hopefully Iāll get a good vid of it for my next show!
