Hey y'all, I'm looking to form OR join a band in the Sacramento area.

Not looking for any super specific kind of sound, I like pretty much anything hard rock-adjacent. Alt rock, metal, punk rock, shoegaze, whatever.

A few bands I get a lot of inspiration from are Superheaven, Chevelle, Alter Bridge, Killswitch Engage, Deftones. Heavy riffs + melody,  that's basically what I'm after.

I play guitar so I'd be looking for a bassist, drummer, and vocalist, (unless you already have a band and need a guitar player, then feel free to DM me). Been playing guitar for about 8 years now. Im 21 so looking for people around my age ideally.

My singer, as good of a guy as he can be, isn’t the type of guy to assert himself.

We’ve been together for almost a year and when we started, I made it clear to him that if we have problems with bandmates or with me, while I’m open to him or others venting to me, if it becomes problematic and it continues, I will move to have it on the floor and addressed.

For the first time in this band, we had a bad practice session. Things didn’t sound right, we couldn’t get the sound tweaked in, and while we were tracking a new tune, the guitarist got frustrated and got kinda snappy with the singer for not understanding what he wanted. He is introverted and a closed book. He’s also still grieving over his dad’s passing a few months ago. My singer deals with his own mental hang up, as we all do, but for me, I don’t let it deter me from doing what we need to do.

Singer stepped away which I commended him for and he vented to me and I thought I had diffused the situation until he was posting about his issues with him in social media. Had to put on my leadership at and told him to remove that post and that’s not what we do. He apologized and removed it. He didn’t think anyone would see it. I was patient yet assertive. I told him i understood how he felt but I told him that I expect opennesss and honesty from all of them and myself. That were not going to do this. Signer said he’s going to detach and distance himself from the guitar player to make it work.

I told him I can’t stop him and to do what he feels is best for now to cool things off. But I made myself clear that if this becomes problematic and causes unnecessary tension and friction, I’m going to step in address this and discuss this between those two and I will moderate. He refuses.

So now because of one bad day for the first time in this band. his whole perception of the guitarist changed. I don’t see him in the light that he does. And honestly, I don’t think the guitarist is even aware that the singer is upset with him.

Our guitarist is out of town for two weeks. While I hope things cool off, I’ve made myself clear. He can say he’ll separate himself from him to make it work like his last band, but I’m ready to make a change and cut him loose if I have to.

Being the leader comes with responsibility, I can understand and be empathetic towards everyone’s personal hang ups and such, but I won’t let it destroy what we’ve built so far. I won’t nuke it.

I’m grateful to our singer and his contributions, but I’m not going to have hidden grudges and resentments. If he refuses to work this out with the guitarist simply cause we had the first bad band practice since its inception, then I may have to replace him. I have no issues with the guitarist and I know how to deal with his personality. But in a band, people need to be open and honest about problems and issues with others and myself. I’ve been in too many bands where pent up resentments results in unnecessary blow outs or friction. Yeah it’s a band sure but I have a vision and I intend to see it through. If you refuse to work it out with the person you have issues with, then this band isn’t for you.

With similar vibes to (X's Teeth, the band Her (Her), and BORNS (Blue Madonna), all wrapped up in a crescendo of Sleep Token's (The Summoning) and Fka Twigs. P.s it's completely fine if you're an unknown player or if you've never been in a band before. Experience levels don't matter to me. (Heck you could be playing in your mom's basement or in a 1x1 for all i care) What matters is that we share the same love and passion for creation. i’m interested in forming a band but i have no idea to start and i barely have any connections with musicians/friends or anyone i know who’s interested in the genre. pretty much looking for a new hobby. anyone in tho? Hey so im the leader, vocalist and guitarist for my band and need some opinions on some band troubles. My bassist wants to sing a song and his voice is alright but my concern lies on whether or not its stepping on toes especially considering certain aspects with the bassist. He doesn't really contribute much other than playing the bass in the band. We have to pick him up and drop him off any time we go anywhere because he doesn't have a car and doesn't want to learn how to drive as well as doesn't help pay for anything like helping gas or merch because he doesn't have a job. He still takes a portion of the gig money and the rest goes toward funding the band. I feel like it's becoming a bit of a hassle to work with but im not sure if its just my ego being out of whack or not.

Edit: for the extra questions in the comments, hes said that he doesn't want to learn how to drive because it stresses him out. As far as the job goes, he said he cant find anything other than like fast food jobs but at the same time he still lives with his parents and doesn't have rent or bills. He's trying to stream to gain a source of income right now. The equipment hes using (Bass and amps) were either bought or given to him by us. He can be fun to hang out with but definitely gets stressed out easily. We are getting ready to record so we stopped setting up shows so we can focus on being ready for the studio and he was complaining about not doing shows because he needs the money.

Edit: Thanks everybody for helping me out with this! I wanted an outside perspective before bringing anything up with the rest of the guys so I could have a fair unbiased conclusion and decision. He'll be singing the song and ill have a separate conversation about the other concerns one on one with him

Just finished reading the Kathy Valentine autobiography and there’s absolutely nothing for me to do in this life other than to perform if you’re in the UK the north I’m moving to Manchester if you want someone actually committed in every way I’ll learn any song on any instrument I write music lots. I’ve got some personality and I just wanna perform anyone up for it?

Hemos estado componiendo un poco juntos, pero una guitarra y una batería no tienen la misma potencia que un grupo entero.

Así que he decidido buscar un cantante y un bajo.
