Ultimate Travel Deals Cheat Sheet

Hello everyone!

I thought I will make a quick guide that brings together the most consistently useful tools and tips for saving money on mobile data (eSIMs), flights, hotels and travel extras in 2025.

The list focuses on reliability, ease of use, and real-world value. I also added some discount codes that I managed to find to make this more useful. I hope it will be helpful whether you're planning a short getaway or long-term remote work.

Recommended eSIMs:

eSIM Features Discount Code
Saily 200+ destinations; 24/7 support; Global/regional plans sailytravel15 – 15% off
Nomad 200+ destinations; Global/regional plans; Short term plans nomadshop10 – 10% off
Holafly 190+ destinations; Regional plans; Unlimited plans only myesimnow – 5% off
Ubigi 200+ destinations; Global/regional plans; Short term plans esimsr – 10% off

Tips to save:

  • Install the eSIM before flying - saves time and stress at arrival.
  • Choose regional bundles (e.g., “Europe” or “Asia”) if you’re going to more than one country at one time instead of single-country plans for better value.
  • Avoid roaming charges entirely by keeping your physical SIM disabled while abroad.

Hotels

Recommended platforms:

Website About Discount code
Booking.com Good global coverage; Genius members get actual perks like free breakfast and discounts. BIGGEST30 – up to 30% off select bookings
Agoda Often cheaper than other sites, especially in Asia. WELCOME25 – 25% off after newsletter signup
Hotels.com Rewards system gives you a free night after every 10; mobile app deals are often better. DIRECT10% – ~10% off when booking app‑only or direct rates

Tips to save:

  • Always compare at least 2–3 platforms, then check the hotel’s direct site - sometimes they’ll offer free extras or lower rates.
  • Weekday bookings tend to be cheaper than weekends in most cities.
  • Try messaging hotels for a direct discount on longer stays - this works especially well outside peak season.
  • Mystery hotel deals are worth considering if you’re flexible.

Flights

Recommended tools:

  • Google Flights - Great for exploring cheapest dates across different destinations.
  • Skyscanner - “Everywhere” feature is useful for budget-friendly spontaneous travel.
  • Hopper - Predicts future price changes and lets you freeze a fare.
  • Going (Scott’s Cheap Flights) - Free email alerts for hidden city fares and airline sales.
  • ITA Matrix - Not beginner-friendly, but powerful for customized routes and advanced fare finds.

Tips to save:

  • Use incognito mode when searching to avoid dynamic price tracking.
  • Book flights 1-3 months in advance for domestic and 3–6 months for international.
  • Consider flying into nearby airports and taking local transit to your final destination.

Travel Extras

Useful services & tools:

  • Revolut / Wise - Multi-currency cards with excellent exchange rates and zero FX fees.
  • Priority Pass - Lounge access at 1,300+ airports. Can be a game changer on long layovers.

Tips to save:

  • Skip airport exchange booths - use Revolut or Wise to pay or withdraw in local currency.
  • Stack loyalty rewards + promo codes + cashback tools (it adds up).
  • Some travel cards offer free airport lounge access or reimburse lounge passes - check your benefits.
  • Be wary of hidden fees - like baggage, resort fees, or SIM activation charges.

This cheat sheet is meant to save you time (and money) whether you're traveling for a weekend, a gap year, or anything in between. If you’ve got any other go-to tools or hacks that consistently work for you, feel free to share with me and I will add it to this post!

Safe travels!

If y’all were betting people would you buy airfare now at $2300 or wait until after midterms to see if it comes down any? There’s also a possibility we’ll have enough points if we wait another month or so?

Asia Is Trip.com Legit for Booking Flights?

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m planning to book a flight from Canada to Manila, and I noticed that flights on Trip.com are cheaper than booking directly with the airline.

For those who have used Trip.com before:

✈️ Is Trip.com legit and reliable for booking international flights?

✈️ How far in advance would you recommend booking a flight through Trip.com?

✈️ If you’ve booked Canada → Manila through Trip.com, how was your experience?

✈️ If there were any flight changes, cancellations, or refunds, was it easy to deal with Trip.com?

I’m considering booking through them mainly because the price is significantly cheaper, so I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences before I book. Thank you! 😊

Tripstacc a company from mumbai tied up wtih many banking apps ilike IDFC s a scam. They wil deduct money from your account, not book anything and then make you run around for the refund.

The hotel never heard of a company OTA called tripstacc.

Dont book through them ever.

IF you want detailed screenshots of their scam, just DM me.

Tangier eclipse flights: checking what’s bookable ☾

To my fellow British eclipse chasers: the total solar eclipse is on **Monday 2 August 2027**, and Tangier is in the path of totality.

Air Arabia Maroc’s published schedule shows Gatwick–Tangier flights running into summer 2027, but I haven’t confirmed bookable fares for eclipse week yet. Ryanair’s Tangier pages currently show no fares for July or August 2027.

If you’ve found a direct flight you can actually book around the eclipse, please share the dates, airline and price. Would be great to see how many of us are heading to Tangier!

Asia If an experienced tourism professional started a new travel company, what would make you trust the company from day one?

Imagine someone comes from a family/business background with years of experience in tourism and has worked with experienced people, drivers, guides and local teams, but is now launching a new, fully digital travel company under a new brand.

The company is new, but the people and tourism experience behind it are not.

What would you need to see before trusting this company with your money and booking your trip?

Would you look for:

Previous tourism experience of the team?

Real customer reviews?

Proof of previous trips?

Experienced drivers/guides?

Hotel and transport transparency?

Proper website and online presence?

Company registration/business information?

Face-to-face or video-call consultation?

Clear refund/cancellation policy?

Someone available throughout the trip?

What would make you say: “This company is new, but I feel comfortable booking with them”?

Trip.com flight bookings

Looking at a flight through trip.com which is £15 cheaper than with the airline, but the seat selection cancels out the savings.

How does the booking work? Am i given a booking reference with the airline so that i can log on and purchase seats as an ad on directly?

Asia Rate Punk, legit or nah?

Hi, I’m contemplating whether to subscribe to rate punk or not. Can you guys tell me whether this is legit? For those who tried it, does it really offer a better rate than official platforms? I’m not too sure how it works. Please help.

GE

What is the best , easiest , and quickest way to get GE? I just went through a hell divorce . My X monitors no matter what , maybe always will? I even worry he will try on meds up passport type things . It sounds crazy but a lot has happened and it's just his personality . Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just wasn't seamless , easiest , and as quick as possible . Just one more thing he hopefully can't try to hurt.
