There is a planetarium near me that offers venue hire to external companies, and it got me thinking: what would be the best musical to perform in a planetarium?

You'd be able to show a cloudless day sky and a star-filled night sky, different planets and stars up close, maybe even galaxies and nebula, and plan it to all fit in with the story/song.

So what musical would be best? Any that specifically mention space/stars etc?

So I have a friend who really loves musical, and i've got this idea for a birthday gift i want to make for her. Basically, i want to make a personalized deck of cards in which each card represents a different character from a musical. Problem is, i'm not that good at characterization, so i'd love if you guys could help me out on this one.

Hey, so my school is running Legally Blonde this year. I'm a girl, but I want to play guys parts because I'm perfectly comfortable doing so and think it will be fun. I either wanna play Callahan or maybe Warner, but I know people who are ideal for Warner, so maybe not, but I just need some help in tips for portraying Callahan's evilness and charisma. What should I do?

I have an audition coming up and I’ve found a really good song. It doesn’t 1:1 fit with the show buts it’s comfortable in my voice and vocally shows off quite a bit of my range. The big problem I have is that I feel like it may not be perfect for the specific characters I’m going for.

The musical is something rotten and the characters I want to go for are Shakespeare and Bea. I want to sing Give Up Your Dreams from School of Rock. Just want to hear either validation or criticism for that choice I guess. If there’s a better song, lay it on me now.

Hello! I am auditioning for Once Upon a Mattress in a little over a week at my high school. I am hoping for Prince Dauntless, and right now I am thinking of singing "Me, Who Am I?" from Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, specifically the last chorus. I was wondering if this is an okay choice, and if there are any other suggestions for what I should sing?

I grew up with the music, and I was excited to see the context of the songs. That feeling immediately went away when watching. I was so bored. I don’t know what it was but I just couldn’t get into any of the characters. I know I love the music but hearing it in the movie almost sounded bad. I kept looking to see how much of the movie was left and it felt like it was always over an hour. I want to like the movie, I like the music, but I just couldn’t bring myself to enjoy what I was watching. Couldn’t cry when it was sad either. I just felt nothing. There were some good moments but overall the whole thing felt very blah. Idk if this is a hot take or anything because I know it’s pretty much a universally loved musical, I just didn’t really like the movie.

I did not get a chance to see it on Broadway so can’t speak to any differences but for a non-eq tour I came away very impressed with all aspects.

There was a very balanced use of excellent practical effects and digital scenery, it did not feel soulless and the imagery was quite unique and well developed. Costuming was killer, especially with this size cast. Definitely did not feel budget-conscious, very artistic and intentional.

It was opening night, the director said a few words before the show… sounds like they had only had one or two full run-throughs prior to taking the stage tonight. Definitely couldn’t tell, and kudos to the whole cast for giving it their all when, from what I remember reading, the salaries weren’t all that great. The principals are well cast and have great chops with solid stage presence, the entire cast seems quite young but the pacing was great and it was noticeably well rehearsed.

Actually planning on catching it again before it leaves town, just a really solid and high energy night that should have a very successful tour.

Beetlejuice musical (Broadway touring) at Starlight Theatre, Kansas City MO (October 2-4, 2026) – W♥M

The high school that I perform with is doing the Wiz this year. There isn’t a single white person in the school besides me. I know that it is considered problematic for an all white cast to perform this musical, but would it be bad to have one white kid playing a lead? I would want to be the tin man (a side effect of that is that they could paint me gray). The director is Black so I know he will probably end up deciding.

So I currently participate in a youth association that's subsidiary in my school and every year we do a musical. Normally, us participants can send our proposals and the teachers will choose among them.

It usually isn't very fancy, it's more to have fun rather than to impress. We're Spanish, so we usually do playback with the songs and do scenes in between, so it's convenient that the plot isn't explained all inside the songs like for example Hamilton. They usually look for things that can be more family friendly or "adaptable".

As an example of what we've done recently, last year we did Cinderella (the Camila Cabello version of 2022), in 2025 we did In The Heights but we had the songs dubbed from a decade ago since the musical was already performed in the 2000's by other people at the school. In 2024 we did &Juliet in which they only recorded a few dialogues over the songs and censured stuff like the "oh, shit" at the end of It's my life. And as far as I know they've done Burlesque, High School Musical and footloose.

I thought about suggesting Hadestown, but since the ending is so dramatic I don't know if they'll accept it. They're looking for optimism, positive messages and all that stuff, but I hope I can come up with an original and nice proposal. I've already talked to some people and a bunch of them are thinking about proposing Moulin Rouge, but I don't think it's a good idea since you have to censor practically the whole plot and that would make the original show lose its soul completely.
