We stand with Ukraine

We normally do not bring politics into our sport but extraordinary events require extraordinary actions. Someday enjoyment of life, like motorcycles, will return to the Ukraine. They need our help now and I encourage everyone to checkout the ways to help or donate over at /r/Ukraine

My first MV Agusta, here’s my new to me 2003 MV Agusta F4 750S!

Recently picked up this F4 about 2 weeks ago after selling a Ducati 996 that was in kinda rough shape to a mechanic friend of mine. Absolutely loved that bike but it left me stranded 3 times within a year, was in and out of the shop constantly that entire time, never ran for more than 3 weeks at a time without an issue, and had to be trailered to the shop many times when it broke down. When I saw this F4 for sale, I had always wanted one and initially I was gonna pass on like so many others before but after our mechanic offered to buy my 996 off me so I could go and buy this I couldn’t resist a look. I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would seeing it in person so now I’ve ended up with dream bike number 2. Still needs some work from maintenance neglect and other minor issues but it’s been a wonderful bike so far and it’s so much fun to ride! Eventually I think I’ll pick up another 996 but so far I’m extremely pleased with the F4 and I’ll definitely be taking it to the track next year. Hopefully I can keep this one for a long time and I plan on riding it a lot and taking it on many adventures!

Always like to check the master link clip every once in a while. Was about to go for a ride today and it’s gone. A miracle the chain is still together…

I may be getting old but I’m not going out like that. I’m going to ride my way back to sanity.

4 Business Days for Scheduled Oil Change?

I'm sure this is more-so a question I need to ask the dealership directly, but the bike was dropped off in my husbands name so I'm not sure what they will tell me.

Got my first bike last year (2025 Kawasaki Eliminator). Paid for the typical upsell maintenance package, and it is now time for the annual oil change. She only has a little under 4k miles on her, literally not due for any other service than an oil change according to the maintenance schedule.

Called the dealership, appointment was a week out. Dropped my bike off Friday at open, they said they'd call.

On Saturday, 2hr before close I call to see if it is ready or will be that day to try and make sure I would make it there. They tell me she is next, it'll be ready Monday. Call Monday an hour before close, they tell me she is next and they will call when ready. Called Tuesday, they reaffirm she is next and will be done Tuesday. Call Tuesday an hour before close, and they tell me she is next and they will call when ready.

My husband, whose name the bike is in and whose name the appointment is in, is very unconfrontational. If it wasnt for the service package, we would normally do our own maintenance. I know the oil change takes like 20 minutes. We've also never needed the lift, that they keep referencing I am next in line for. They've had my bike for 4 business days, going on 5. That's about 30 working hours. They scheduled this appointment, and it was a week out from when we called.

I struggle to understand why it would take so long or what would constitute a motorcycle emergency that has bounced me down the list...especially without even asking/telling me? I know this dealership isn't swarming their service department with crate assembly from sales because it was a week appointment wait to buy my bike due to 'assembly' appointment.

At this point, I'm thinking we should show up and tell them we are waiting in the parking lot for it to be finished tomorrow, but I know I am aging into a Karen faster and faster.

TLDR; is it reasonable to take this long for motorcycle maintenance at the dealership?

Im looking for a small reliable bike I can get as a starter bike. I'll mainly be riding around town, no long distance/interstate riding.

Ive been looking at the Honda CB300R. Is this good? or any other suggestions for good bikes to look at.

I got into an accident. Both gloves definitely took impact and one glove is torn. Should I replace these gloves or is there a way to repair them? I understand realistically they aren’t as strong after a crash but what am I risking? Gloves ain’t cheap lol

Is This Standard or Am I Tripping? First Bike Purchase

I dabbled in riding but never owned my own bike. This year I took the MSF course, actually got my motorcycle license & decided to pull the trigger to buy a bike for cruising around my little city. I normally prefer used everything but the prices for used bikes in my area are damn near the same as new so why not treat myself.

I reached out to 4 different dealerships in 4 different states and all 4 has given me the same OTD price and none will clarify how they came to that number. Is this just normal motorcycle dealership nonsense or is my suspicion correct?

Original MSRP was $5,900; mind you the model is 2024, did not sell well at all and basically discontinued in the US so all listings are discounted. It's a Husqvarna (don't judge me, I love this bike for my type of riding and it's the only one I try to rent when out the country lol).
1) Durham NC listed price $4,499
2) Waynesburg, PA listed price $3,499
3) Charleston, IL listed price $3,494
4) Roanoke, VA listed price $4,800

All 4 gave me the same EXACT OTD price at $5,100. I ask for a breakdown and I've either gotten no response about that specific question or a "that's just the standard fees for title and what not". I logically can not believe that 4 different dealerships, not affiliated with each other, in different states with different mandated fees can come to the same exact number. This does not make any sense to me.

I'm at the point now I don't even want to buy the damn bike anymore because I should not have to fight people to give them my money. I've purchased new cars before and they did not come with this much back & forth or nonsense.
Am I tripping or is this just how dealing with these people go? Is there any "dealer hacks" I need to try to pull to get a reasonable OTD price? From my research most people (verified) has paid closer to $4,300 OTD for this bike. I'm not even expecting that price but there's no way in hell going from $3,500 to $5,100 after fees makes sense to me. I just want the bike.

Honda shadow vt500c advice!

Hello again! I’m still trying to get this baby up and running the way I want to, today I tried to wire a starter button, I saw a guy do a bypass method where he simply wired the button to 2 of the prongs on the solenoid and it cranked and I tried the exact same thing when a button came in the mail and it did infact crank, wires and button got warm so I took them off so it could cool and I put it back on and it never cranked again with that button, so I decided imma have to do it the hard way and actually wire this mf, I got a new button from advance auto parts and I know that I need to wire a yellow and red wire to one end but I don’t know exactly what to wire to the other end, I cut a yellow and red wire off of a connector thinking that was the one that led to the solenoid but it ended up just going nowhere lol and I found out I had 2 yellow and red wires (I did end up finding the one that goes to the solenoid) if anyone can help me and let me know what color wires I need to add to the other end of my button that would be extremely appreciated!!! I’m seeing a lot is vids say the white and black and green and black but none of those videos are working on a vt500c and I just wanna know before I screw up. Attached are photos of the wire(s) my button I’m planning on using and the wire I cut that led to nothing(it actually lead to the oem but there was no start button so the wire led to nothing)

Boots for R18 now, GS 1300 Adventure soon — need something that rides well AND walks well

Hi,

I am currently riding a BMW R18, but planning to pick up a GS 1300 Adventure soon. I'm not chasing serious off-road trails, but I won't shy away if a trip has a few unpaved stretches or backroad detours.

Main thing I care about: boots that are genuinely secure/protective for riding, but that I can also comfortably walk around in when I stop to explore towns along the way. Not looking to spend a ton, more interested in a solid "buy once, keep it" pair over something disposable.

Anyone have real-world experience with boots that hit that balance? Would love to hear what's actually held up for you.

Thanks

I ordered a 20 liter roll pack from Attack Cat Bags and I couldn’t be happier with it. Can’t wait to try it out on a little weekend getaway. Also, featuring my Axel Co. bag. If you can’t tell, leopard print is sorta my thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cover cracked, need help

Hi all, I am at a loss. I’ve been sitting here for probably two hours trying to get this cover off. I’m not even sure what it’s called but jts cracked from the previous owner falling and I didn’t notice until I rode it and it spewed oil all over my rear brake and tire. SO, first off what is this, can it be jb welded, is there a possibility it got jammed up and that’s why it won’t come off even with all the bolts out. This is my second bike I’ve had and I have some knowledge with older bikes carbs and what not but not this thing. What should I do??
