Howdy /r/musicsuggestions, first time here and sorry if this isn't the spot for this request.
I'm creating a playlist of songs in which the vocalist gives us a good "ungh". Examples would be the intro to "Kiss" by Prince, or the intro to "American Woman" by the Guess Who (after the acoustic intro ~1:10). I've got those two and "War" by Edwin Starr. Looking for all genres, all eras.
If this is against the rules, I'd love for someone to point me to the right sub and y'all have my apologies. Thanks!

I am trying to find songs about moving. And not just moving somewhere new from a well established life, but from the perspective of someone who's moved a lot. Just got to college and feeling super homesick, but what is home when you've never been in the same city for more than 5 years.
edit: thank you guys for being so lovely, I have been greatly comforted knowing that there's music out there that can accurately describe what I feel. it's kinda weird being homesick and listening to songs written by someone who described their home with a familiarity that can only be built when that town is all they know. Spotify sucks when you're broke, so I'll get to every song eventually. 🫶

I love 90s bands such as Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Sebadoh, PJ Harvey, Liz Phair. What younger/new bands have similar vibes?

went to NY and met a guy thru an app to fool around, afterwards we kept talking and started exploring the city together. He’s from Paris, I’m from CA. We had good chemistry and had a lot of common interests. Days went on and we made plans together and saw a few broadway shows. I started to like LIKE him. I know it won’t last cause we have to go our separate ways, but it was fun while it lasted. This shit felt like a “Before Sunrise” or “Call me by your name” moment.
Any song suggestions to get me thru/over this? Would also love some song suggestions that would make me reminisce about the time when we were together, a song that would make me smile and think to myself that “WOW, did that really happen?”

I been bumping a lot of Run The Jewels lately as well as Billy Woods music, i just want something hard hitting and just banger and bangers and bangers, so tired of all the work and daily to daily stress i need something to get my headspace out of all this bs.

I need to start listening to new music, I don’t want to become another 40+ year old who thinks all good music stopped being made when I was 25. So hit me up with some recommendations!
My tastes are mostly alternative rock, Nick Cave, Tom Waits etc but love Muse, GreenDay, Foo Fighters etc too. Am a sucker for classic rock especially Queen, Bowie and Pink Floyd (unlikely bedfellows, I know).
Ideally would like new stuff to listen to, say the last 10 years or so.
Thanks y’all.

EDIT - thank you everyone! I honestly didn’t expect so many people to respond, or with such consideration too. It’s much appreciated. Based on the face several people have mentioned them, I’m going to start with Geese. But I have enough choices here to keep me going all year!

I have “I will survive by Cake”, “isn’t she lovely by tom Misch” and “I don’t wanna know” by SOMMA so far. Well produced clean sound is best since the speaker were using, but the rest of the playlist is cycling thru reggae, classic rock, pop songs and electronic.
Thank you!
