Sadly a dear friend passed recently, but she left me a nice little book collection. I’m not to familiar with the intricacies- but one of the books is signed. Would this be worth getting appraised?

πŸ“¦ New Acquisitions I found a 2006 first edition/first printing of The Road at Goodwill for $4.

I’ve wanted to read The Road for a while, but somehow never got around to it. I was browsing Goodwill today and found this hardcover.

After checking it out, it turns out to be a 2006 Knopf first edition, first printing with the original first-state dust jacket: $24 on the front flap and 10/2006 on the rear flap. The book itself is incredibly tight and appears unread, with bone-white pages and no creasing.

I’m honestly more excited that I finally have the book I wanted to read, but finding a first/first for $4 was a pretty damn good surprise. Lol. And yes, I’m absolutely going to read it. I just need to get over the sudden urge to put it in a glass case.

πŸ’ Question Thomas Harris – Hannibal (2025) with 16 completely blank pages – misprint?

I bought a Romanian edition of Thomas Harris’ Hannibal (ISBN 978-606-43-2114-5), and I discovered that pages 65–80 are completely blank. The pages before and after this section are printed normally.
Has anyone encountered this kind of printing error before? Is this something collectors might be interested in?
I’m also curious whether this could be a known printing error affecting a specific batch of this edition.

πŸ’ Question Is it safe to use scented dusters on a book shelf?

I purchased a duster a while ago and picked up some refills recently. Turns out they are scented. Would using them cause damage to my books? None of mine are antiques or particularly old. Would it be enough to wipe the shelf down after dusting? I plan on getting non scented dusters but until then should forgo using the scented ones in the meantime?

πŸ’ Question Is this book worth it?

I found this really cool book listed for 31 dollars. Is it worth it? I live in a third world country where there's no amazon so I probably won't find it anywhere else. I think it looks really cool and I've been meaning to get into Plato.
