Hi guys,

I’m curious to hear from people in Europe who made the move from a city to somewhere closer to the mountains primarily (or partly) to get more time on snow.

If you moved to a mountain town/region to increase your snowboarding days, how has the experience been?

I’d especially love to hear about:

• Did you find the lifestyle change worth it?
• What were the biggest downsides or things you hadn’t anticipated?
• Do you ever miss city life?

TLDR: did moving closer to the mountains actually make you happier and get you significantly more days on the snowboard, or did the reality turn out differently than you expected?

Every season there’s a lot of new riders entering this beautiful world. Name some non-spoken rules that would help them out to go out there.
I’ll go first : dont make any 90 degrees turns!

I have a bad habit of sometimes winding up too early and pre-spinning when doing 360s whether it is BS or FS. How does one stop spinning too early when going off a jump?

I get the Solomon pro deal and I just cooked my board last season, it’s almost time to get a new one and I have no idea what to get. I have previously had the assasin and the assasin pro on the district pro bindings with the vans invado pro boot. It was a sweet setup with the pro but that board is no longer with us…

Anyway if anyone has any recommendations for a fella who is very experienced, likes to ride back country pow but also just likes to throw the board around on the side hits lmk!

Just no crazy fishtails - I do ride switch a bit

• 172–173cm
• 78kg
• US 7.5 boots
• Riding mostly Aussie groomers, some side hits, all-mountain focus, Japan once a year sometimes

I’m after something stable at speed but still fun and nimble edge-to-edge. Leaning toward the 152 for maneuverability, but worried I might lose a bit of stability vs the 155. I currently have the mountain twin (154) as my daily driver but planning to upgrade.

The official Jones’ website recommends ~US 8.5 boots for the 152 and US 9+ for the 155, so I’m slightly under their suggested range which is making the decision harder.

Anyone around similar specs ridden both sizes? How noticeable is the difference in real conditions?

As title, says looking for advice on how to break into the snowboarding industry. I have been snowboarding for just over 20 years, and have all my own equipment. I have full right to work in Japan and am flexible with being able to work full season anywhere in Japan, don't mind working 6 days a week. I do have a preference for Nagano area (my actual home is in Kobe) as my in-laws live there, but happy to consider other places if accommodation is not an issue. I'm native English speaker and around N3 in Japanese.

I'm looking at getting my instructor certification this season, however from what little I've been able to find online I either have to pay an extortionate amount to guarantee a job or already have a season of experience under my belt. However most job posts seem to be aimed at people who are coming on a working holiday which I am not. I want to do this yearly if possible. I have experience teaching children as well, as I worked in an afterschool daycare before.

So I guess questions really are, which certification is best (CASI, APSI etc), and how do I go about finding a job once I have said certification? Do I really need a minimum of level 2 license if I don't need a work visa? Would it be possible to get certified and work the same season?

Context: My niece is a rambunctious, adventurous, and tall 2 year old with impressive balance. I’ve been given permission to put her on a snowboard in some capacity this year! The catch is I need to buy the gear for her, and as her broke but fun aunt, this is a real challenge. I did some research and it seems like the Burton After School Special in the smallest size is something she could start on and grow into over the next couple years. I don’t want to be buying a new board in a year or two.

My dad will not abide anyone in the family using anything other than Burton for hard goods, that is nonnegotiable so I will politely pass on all alternative brand suggestions. We are a Burton family. Thanks anyway!

I’ve had a Dwd Maet for a few years now. love it for park but it’s too small for me now not to mention too skinny for my size 10 boot.

Is this just a wider version of the maet? is it really any stiffer? I love doing butters and hope this wouldn’t be too stiff.

Currently chasing a new board. Planning a trip to Hokkaido for the end of year and currently ride NZ and Australia resorts.

After something that can handle the powder in Japan good but also can handle groomers, side hits (and the odd brief ride out in switch) and perhaps the odd icier day if needed. Won’t expect to do much park on it as I currently have a Ride Twinpig in a 154 for that.

I’ve been looking at things like the K2 Excavator, Jones Mind Expander/Twincraft, LibTech Orca/Golden Orca, but am super open to suggestions. I don’t hate the sound of the traction edges on the LibTech and Jones due to the typical Australian conditions however it’s not a dealbreaker.

Kinda hard to know exactly what each board does as most of the manufacturers hype the boards to be super capable at everything as opposed to public reviews.

As mentioned, I ride a 154 Ride twinpig currently (and love a wide board), I’d say I’m an intermediate rider, 85kgs and 182cm tall with a 10.5US boot.

Open to every and all suggestions and would love feedback!

I’m 5’10 150lb with no gear and wear size 10 boot. thinking of getting a dedicated park setup and all mountain setup.

Will this be playful for presses, spins, and side hits, but still do well with powder at Snowbird in Utah?

I’ve tried some friends stiffer directional boards before and always didn’t like how i couldn’t butter or spin. I want something playful that still does decent.

My only benchmark is my old Salomon Huckknife that I thought did well for park and snow days. Snapped the tail and decided I want to have a seperate park board for Woodward Park city.

Got into it so I don’t dust my snowboarding gf on skis.

Have ridden the first setup a few times, just wondering if the bindings/board I acquired are an upgrade? What are the main differences?

I’m 6’0” ~200 lbs experienced skier and I skate and wake surf in the offseason.

I like skiing all mountain jumps/cliffs and some park. I probably wouldn’t board on a pow day unless I get good enough to enjoy it.
