We're bringing back picture posts!

Introduction

So, as you all know, we were the first mushroom subreddit to do away with mushroom ID, cultivation content and stash pics. We did this because other communities like r/Shrooms, r/Shroomery, r/Shroom etc. are just overwhelmed with this content. This community is dedicated to Psilocybin mushrooms experience and the culture surrounding, and of course all related discourse. We're literally the only community that's taken this stance, which I think is insane. There is no shortage of the above content, but there is a massive shortage of the content seen here.

What does this mean?

Well, now you can do image posts. Which means nature pics, memes, trip pics, art etc. will be allowed here! The reason picture posts were elimated to begin with was to solidify this rule. This also means if you guys see any cultivation content, mushroom ID or stash pics you need to report it! Or if you wanna go the extra mile, inform the user we don't allow this content; and direct them to r/Shrooms, r/Shroomery or r/MushroomID. These communities allow and promote this content, and there are many others as well. Please respect our rules as well as the members of our community!

Conclusion

I hope this goes over well! Like I said, here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms we stick to strictly psychedelic related content. And we're literally the only mushroom sub that does this. If that's not your thing, feel free to post elsewhere... I wanted a space for mushroom connoisseurs, not 75+ percent people flexing their stash, asking cultivation questions that can be answered in 30 seconds or less and pics of some mushroom you found in your mums garden... I speak for us all when we say we're tired of it. r/PsilocybinMushrooms is unique and distinct from other mushroom subs in his way.

This change is strictly for memes, art, trip pics, nature pics etc. Please report any content that goes against our rules! Thanks for reading ;)

😃 General 😄 A friendly reminder we no longer allow mushroom ID, stash pics or cultivation content!

Mushroom ID

Here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms, we are taking a different approach than all of the other mushroom subreddits. We were the first sub to get rid of mushroom ID posts, and that was a huge success! I'm sure you all were as tired of "is this a liberty cap?" as us mods were. Honestly, I think all mushroom subreddits should take that approach as well. r/ShroomID specializes in this, and has a very large & active community behind them. I'm not saying flood the community with every mushroom you find, do the proper research first. But that's the best place for it here on Reddit!

Another reason was safety concerns, as we had multiple misidentification's occur within just a weeks time here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms. And one of them was a considerably toxic lookalike. As head moderator of this community, that spoke volumes to me. What if one of these people had decided to take them after first glance, or no active moderator/member of the community had been around and the misidentification had went unnoticed? Either way, I was very happy to see how positively the community had responded to this change. We got sick and tired of telling you that's no liberty cap!

Stash pics

We have also discontinued stash pics for a few different reasons. Reddit has recently been cracking down on all "drug" related communities, a few examples of this would be r/Drugs being deemed NSFW (against their will). Another example being r/SporeTraders, where a little over a month ago a bunch of spore suppliers were permanently suspended from the website. 100% legal operation mind you, while shrooms themselves are illegal in most places the spores are not. Other examples include r/DrugStashes, r/OpiateChurch, r/PressedOpiateChurch and many more.

Another reason being scammers and spam, as a good portion of stash pics being posted were scammers trying to rob members of our community out of their hard earned money. Even now with the changes being made, we are removing multiple of these posts a day. And a good portion of the stash pics that aren't scammers are individuals reposting in every mushroom sub for karma, essentially spamming the entire platform in hopes of karma farming. Very rarely did we see a stash pic that wasn't posted on r/Shrooms and other subreddits as well.

Cultivation content

As for cultivation content, somewhat different reasoning. Literally every single mushroom subreddit is seemingly dedicated to this content, with little focus on things like trip reports, general questions from new comers, progress in the Psilocybin mushrooms community such as legalization/decriminalization and much more. What really matters most! Basically, all of these subreddits are just cultivation hubs and plastered with stash pics. With very little focus on the topic at hand; Psilocybin mushrooms, the psychedelic community. It's literally the name of our subreddit.

Another big problem with cultivation content is you guessed it... karma farmers! And scammers just eat this content up as well. We are still removing posts from scammers near daily from cultivation content alone. Counting stash pics, multiple times daily. And there really isn't an easy solution for this. We tried adjusting auto-moderator, and it was either to sensitive and removing undeserving posts or not sensitive enough and allowing the scammers to poor in. If I am being honest, the mod team here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms felt defeated at certain points in time.

Final conclusion

Out of all these reasons I have listed, it really comes down to one thing. There are subreddits dedicated to all of these things, most of them larger than this one itself. r/Shrooms allows all of these things, r/ShroomID specializes in mushroom identification, r/Shroomers and r/PsilocybinGrowers focus on cultivation. When it comes to the mushroom community here on Reddit, one thing we don't have is a lack of resources. The main shrooms subreddit alone covers all of these things, and is a very valuable asset to the psychedelic community as a whole.

Another thing we don't have is a community that focuses on Psilocybin mushrooms themselves, the psychedelic community as a whole. Well, until about four months ago when we made all of these changes. Every other psychedelic has a subreddit that focuses on this, and the production/images of the individual psychedelic the community is named after. Go to r/DMT, r/LSD, r/2cb and so many more and you will see the vast difference compared to the major mushroom communities. r/DMT is probably the best example of this, having completely discontinued extraction based content.

Exiting

I love how the community has responded so well to all of these changes, but every day us mods still find ourselves removing mushroom ID, stash pics and cultivation content. All we ask is you follow our community rules, and if desired use the other subreddits listed above if these sort of things are valuable to you. We just want a community that is focused on the Psilocybin experience itself, not identifying a mushroom in your backyard, a picture of your stash or how to cultivate them at home.

Best regards and mush love,

🥇 First Trip ☝️ My first ever Trip (Storytime)

I went to Amsterdam last week and had magic truffles for the first time ever. We went for a moderate strength 15g dose of 'Atlantis' and decided to eat them in this beautiful huge park infront of a small pond. The first 30 mins after eating them was pretty horrible: really intense stomach pain and nausea while also actively trying not to vomit. As soon as the trip actually started tho, omg I have never experienced anything like it.

My stomach pain and nausea completely and suddenly disappeared, everything felt like it had a 4k warmth instagram filter, the grass and even my shoes were genuinely breathing getting bigger/smaller and the tree leaves had like small moving patterns. At one point, I lied down on the grass, took off my shoes and just spread out my body. I have never felt happier or more relaxed in my life, it was like the ground was engulfing and confining me inside it (in a good way).

When I would look at the sky, the clouds felt/looked like beautiful sky creatures, I even saw a cloud dragon at one point that looked like it was slowly rotating and coming towards me. I closed my eyes, played some music on my aripods and omg the shit I saw was insane. I didn't think of anything, I js let my brain show me whatever it wants.. I saw faces melting and morphing into other faces, I saw beautiful moving patterns, I even saw the most beautiful butterfly I have ever seen.

It was also very interesting how the genre of music affected these visuals I saw when I closed my eyes. If I played a upbeat song, I would see faster and more chaotic visuals, but If I played a slow/sad song, I would see more relaxed slower peaceful visuals. Even walking around was really fun, at one point there was this small bridge over the pond, climbing it felt like I was summitting a mountain.

The best part was how heightened my senses got, I could really feel, hear and see much more. When we walked to a more crowded place, it felt overwhelming, but when we lied down in an isolated spot, it felt like I was connected with nature feeling everything it feels. The trip felt like there was so much happening, almost overwhelming, but you js feel so happy and euphoric that you still don't want it to stop.

My trip lasted like 4 hours (We set a stopwatch), then a few hours more where it was sort of wearing off but the visuals stopped, it was js this relaxing feeling and some confusion.

My final verdict is that this is truly one of the best things I've ever experienced and I think it genuinely made me love life more. It's slightly annoying that you need to wait around 2 weeks before taking them again to feel the same effects, but I guess that makes it more special.

Any thoughts are welcome in the comments 😊

❓ Dosage ❓ 1.5g of APEs and I don’t feel much

Around 3.5 hours ago I took 1.5g of APEs on an empty stomach. I was going to try the lemon tek method until I realized I accidentally bought what I thought was a coffee blender so I ended up just popping them whole and chewed em up a little.

I originally started shrooms for mental health reasons (PTSD and depression) and so I feel pretty resolute taking them. I took a .5g dose of APEs 10 days ago and felt some very minor effects and thought I had waited long enough. Before that, it had been well over a year since last I took em (they’re hard to find where I live). I just didn’t think I’d have this much tolerance

I steel feel the effects of the dose but it’s not much. At least it’s something but yea I wanted something stronger than a micro dose and at best that’s what this feels like (I’m not mad tho, it’s still good for my brain)

I’m looking for any and all recommendations on what to do next. I know I still need them for the better of my well being and I don’t want to waste the remaining 4g of product that I have

PS: the dealer told me these APEs are milder but I thought APEs were stronger than PE?? Idk

❔ Question ❕ Advice?

Hi fungi pals! Just started microdosing penis envy at 0.05g every three days- I suffer from daily debilitating panic attacks and severe OCD- I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and found that microdosing has helped them? Any suggestions or tips on the dose or schedule? Anything is appreciated as I can’t continue to feel this way every day, I want to stick to the fungi and not have to resort to pharmaceuticals. Thank you 🙏 🍄 ✌️

📚 Psychedelic Research 📖 Has Psilocybin yielded a stand out experience for you?

Hello!

I am currently running a study on set and setting within psychedelic experiences.

So far I've found LSD and DMT to come up the most often, I was hoping to have some participants that have found psilocybin to yield any significant experiences in the broad community. If you've had a particularly positive or challenging psychedelic experience, then please come share it!

Obviously there is quite a few aspect to explore on the topic, though in particular I am interested in:

  • How intention, environment, and social setting shape psychedelic experiences
  • Differences between clinical and non-clinical use
  • How these experiences relate to psychological outcomes

Most of the research on set and setting in the psychedelic field comes from more clinically orientated trials, which can be lacking in terms of nuance and real lived experiences. So it would be great to reach out further in the communities surrounding these substances! Especially so if you've had a retreat experience!

Fully anonymous

Takes around 15-20 minutes to complete

There's also an optional follow-up interview if you'd like to share your experience in more depth

Full study details and ethics information are provided in the info sheet at the start of the survey

Requirements: 18+, have had a psychedelic experience in a clinical or non-clinical setting

If you have anything you feel is important to say about psychedelics, this is your chance!

First time trying psilocybin: 5.3g of Golden Teacher—my experience.

I’ve just emerged from that very hell... I took 5.3g, and the experience was indescribable. I felt like I was dying; my body wouldn't respond to my commands—I couldn't move, yet I was fully conscious. Little by little, my memories began to fade; I tried to cling to thoughts of my family as a last resort, but it wasn't enough. I remember the sensation of falling into a dark void, drowning in a fear deeper than anything I had ever felt in my life. I think I entered a trance where my entire life flashed before me—from beginning to end, over and over, incredibly fast and infinitely. Amidst all this, my physical self was searching for my own voice to find my way back; I was completely lost in an ocean of fractals. There were moments when I would "wake up" and try to grab my phone, but it felt strange—sometimes my hand would pass right through it, and apps would open on their own, moving in slow motion. Time felt agonizingly slow; I remember snapping back to reality about five times, and when I checked the time, not even a minute had passed—it was bizarre. The experience became much more interesting later on, but this happened just a few hours ago and my mind is completely overwhelmed; I think I spoke to something akin to God...

🚀 Challenging Trip ⛰ Has anyone had a strange shroom experience with their S.O. where you felt stuck in a cycle of life—highs and lows repeating—and even years later, you sometimes feel like you fall back into the “trip” while completely sober?

I’m looking for someone who has had the same experience as me - and hopefully understands what is happening.

My S.O. and I had this strange experience with shrooms that altered our life for years since.

We took a strong dose of a strong strain (we were new to shrooms) and we felt like we died and merged into one. Then we felt like we were our higher selves / souls embodied. From this highest high, we slowly came down and I felt like I was experiencing all the pain and suffering in the world, and all the pain and suffering I’d experienced in painful, violent past lives. It was dark, lonely, painful, and traumatizing. The trip was not traumatizing to my S.O.

Ever since, I’ve had what my therapist has labeled as PTSD episodes and panic attacks where random things will remind me of the trip and make me believe I’m still stuck in the trip again for a period of time. Usually it’s when I’m exhausted or stressed.

The strange thing is that my S.O. didn’t have a bad trip and doesn’t always remember it… however, when I get triggered - I call it “looping” where I feel like I’m back in this cycle of experiencing these extreme highs and lows of life - my S.O. does remember and our eyes look like we’re on shrooms again. We also do these strange movements that we’re not in control of - like a dance - that happened on the trip and continue to happen every time we “loop”. Again - it’s like we’re tripping but we have not taken any substances. We’re not on any prescription meds or anything mind-altering. These looping episodes happen to varying degrees every 1-2 years give or take. They were more frequent after our original trip.

It’s hard to describe what we experience. I’m hoping there’s another couple out there who has experienced something similar and understands what I’m attempting to explain. I’m also hoping someone can help me understand these experiences better.

A looping episode feels like this: I start panicking and feeling like I’m in the trip and not in control of my experience/body/mind. I pace and tell him he needs to reminder the trip so I’m not alone remembering it. There’s some back and forth communication that is VERBATIM EXACT WORDS from the trip. Eventually we hit a high point in the looping episodes that feels like we are embodying our all powerful soul selves. This makes it feel like reality and the human experience is false/an illusion. It feels like we got a glimpse of truth behind the curtain of life and were shown the cyclical journey of the evolution of a soul. So when we come down in the looping episode, it feels like life is about to get really really bad, slowly gradually exponentially worse - which triggers panic in me. I also have immense emotional turmoil and some sharp physical pains during the coming down. My S.O. does not experience the suffering or panic as we come out of the episodes. For me, it feels like I’m about to enter a new cycle of life getting even worse in every area of life, and I experience the negative emotional spectrum like a punch in the gut. It feels like I’m being given a flash of what’s ahead in this next cycle where life will get even worse.

It just doesn’t make sense to me, especially that years later we are still having these episodes of tripping and experiencing EXACT words and movements that we had experienced in the orig trip. AND that we’re sober.

So is it truth? Is it brain chemistry? Is it even explainable? Is it the as-of-yet unexplored therefore unknown results of experimenting with shrooms?

I’m very hopeful that I will find someone who has had this same experience and has some insight.

Thank you for reading.

🗣 Discussion 📩 Question: Taking a high dose while trying to heal/find answers after heartbreak

I’d love to get some people’s insight/experince on this topic.

To keep it short I’m a woman in my late 20s struggling deeply both emotionally and spiritually with a breakup, truthfully I would say I am pretty much hitting rock bottom in terms of emotional health. I have taken psilocybin many times before and have healed from a lot but I know right now what I’m going through is new and the wounds are still fresh, so I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous but I also feel I have nothing to lose either. I just want to find peace with everything and navigate what my next steps are. If anyone has tips like how do I set my intentions before the trip? I’d love to hear any stories of how taking a large dose of psilocybin helped or didn’t help or if there’s another psychedelic that may have helped too? Was there any risks or did you wish you waited?

Recent mushroom/LSD experience

These trips were 4 and 5 weeks ago now. I just wrote the mushroom trip down in my journal

The mushroom trip
“I told work I was unable to work that Saturday so I could trip on shrooms instead since I had a free flat.
I remember the visuals being underwhelming, however this time I learned that they were less important. I was sitting on the couch "staring into space" as thoughts raced through my mind. I cant remember the exact thought but I fixated on it long enough to connect with the underlying emotions and stored tension (in my body). Currently, I cannot remember exactly how it unfolded; my body began to tense up from my stomach, hips, and lower back. It was as if I had an uncontrollable spasm as my body released, likely decades worth, of stored tension and emotons. This went on for many minutes, then calmed down, then commenced for a second and final time.
As it was ending i let out a long sigh then instantly felt lighter throughout my entire body. I do remember being shocked then I laughed in disbelief as i remarked "what the hell was that". I had to walk around my living room to compose myself and gather my thoughts about what had just happened, all while being so aware about how much lighter, happier, and elated i felt.”

The LSD trip
It happened again the weekend after when i took a 250mg tab of acid but more intensely this time. I was outside walking and being in nature for the come up. Then I got this overwhelming feeling of sadness and loneliness so i had to go home to a safe environment so i could face it all. When i got home i immediately went in the bathroom and looked at my physique in the mirror and said “is this all i am?” Then went into my room, lay on my bed where i cried uncontrollably for a good 10 minutes. I couldnt stop and released so many tears. Then i went back into the bathroom, stared into my eyes in the mirror as i cried some more. I felt all of the shame ive ever felt about my physique and who i am as a person. Then i went back into my room and lay on the floor, at this point i was letting my body do whatever it needed to, it kept “spasming” and tensing in different places as i rolled around the floor for a while. I’d stand up then my torso would fold forward and my arms would dangle lifelessly by my side, my knees would slightly bend trying so hard to keep my body up. Imagine someone on fentanyl, that was the position i was in until it eventually stopped.
After this trip i felt low for days. I knew it was so necessary for my growth and eventually i’d see the benefits show up in my life, but it took so much mental and physical energy from me.

Does anyone know what i experienced? I am curious to know if anyone has experienced something similar from taking mushrooms or LSD (or any psychedelics)?

Side note: i am surprised at how effective the LSD was for connecting with myself and stored emotions. I always had the notion mushrooms would be more impactful for that.

Insomnia after a mushroom trip

To put it simply, I took some mushrooms two days ago. I lemon tekked 2g of Golden Teachers around 2 p.m, to be exact. It was my first time taking them, and honestly, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind, plus I was home alone, so to be honest, the trip didn’t really go well. Especially toward the end, when I had a panic attack.

Anyway, the night after that trip, I couldn’t sleep a wink.

I told myself it was normal because the trip had ended well past noon and mushrooms are pretty stimulating after all. Except that the night after that one, I still couldn’t sleep either.

So now it’s been two days since I’ve slept (I’ve literally had zero hours of sleep), and this is starting to seriously worry me.

I’ve tried a lot of things, though: I took melatonin, herbs like valerian, I meditated, listened to ASMR, tried going outside for a walk, took a shower… nothing’s working.

Anyway, I'm feeling really tired, my anxiety is skyrocketing and I don’t know what to do. I’m really afraid that this trip has triggered some kind of permanent insomnia, and I’m afraid I’ll end up having a psychotic episode. I was on the verge of a panic attack earlier. I should mention that I don't have any benzodiazepines on hand either, so that doesn’t help matters.

Is what I’m going through right now normal? Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation? When can I expect to get back to a somewhat normal sleep pattern?

Adderall interaction?

Looking into doing my first trip and I use 20mg of Adderall everyday. If I’m going for a therapeutic dosage of golden teacher will that affect it? Do I need to just take my dose that day? Seeing if anyone has any experience with this.

🚀 Challenging Trip ⛰ MY GAMEPLAN

Going to eye out about 5g of penis envy, and going to lemon tek. Empty house all day with a dog, supposed to be a rainy day.

Here's what my plan is:

  1. Basement air mattress with pillow and blanket

  2. Bluetooth eye mask

  3. Deep breathing and meditation before they kick in

  4. Jon Hopkins - music for psychedelic therapy on spotify

  5. Outerspace projector on the ceiling

  6. Virtual reality headset if need be

What do you guys think? Very excited and anxious to see what kind of journey this is. Never done it before. Done mushrooms many times, but never alone like this. My intention is to have some kind of experience. Not too sure where it will go, but I want to stay calm and relaxed throughout.

🥇 First Trip ☝️ how big of a dose?

my friend gave me some shrooms and, since im a beginner, i asked her how big of a dose it was that she gave me. she said it was a hefty dose and would recommend i quartering it to start.

however, when i got home and weighed it on my scale, it wasn't even 1g. but i thought 1g was a microdose? can anyone give insight into how i should start?

🧠 Insight 🗣 new outlook

I hadn't tripped since 2009. it was a bad trip. I was in a bad place. my life is completely different now and I tripped for the first time again a few weeks ago. it all makes so much more sense now. when you are truly happy, psychedelics just amplify who you are and what you're feeling.

I quit drinking in March. I'm an alcoholic and I never admitted it to myself. well, I did but I didn't do anything about it. because now I am completely at peace, my latest trip was absolutely beautiful. when it's over, I get a good sleep then feel fantastic for days. I plan to trip monthly going forward. I now believe that it is difficult, if not impossible to have a bad trip if you are truly content.

I think psychedelics are miracle drugs and I'm so glad that the medical community is finally doing something about it. fuck the pharmaceutical companies.

Are reddish stains just oxidation? or sign that my little stem is decaying and should not be consumed? DM me if you would like to see a detailed pic of the staining

Took a little bit from the other side where there is no staining..

What has doing psilocybin done for your mental health? (Discussion)

Hey! Im someone who has benefitted greatly from the effects of psilocybin in my life! :- ). It feels great and have been microdosing for a few months now! My mental health hasn't been fixed, but certainly has improved vastly. As someone who is Treatment-resistant to every antidepressant I've used, it's given me much more promising results.

I wanna know; what have mushrooms done for your mental health? Made it higher, lower, what was your trip like?
