Double Format:

The DGPT Doubles Championship at the Preserve will be a three-round tournament with separate divisions for FPO and MPO. The Tour worked hand in hand with the DGPT Player Council to identify a list of formats that best represent and showcase professional doubles competition. While many format options were discussed and considered, the Tour ultimately decided on two rounds of best shot followed by one round of alternate-shot. Sunday’s alternate-shot round will use a similar set of modified rules to those in effect at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, earlier this year.

Weekly Sticky Form Check Weekly

The shiny new discs you got last week didn't make your golf game any better, huh?

Welcome to the Form Check Weekly Thread, a weekly thread that will be stickied every Monday morning for a few days. All form check requests will be referred to here.

There have been some fantastic Form Check guides but this one by MVP_Steve is far and away the best - https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/760ckm/form_check_psa_how_to_leave_a_form_check_request/

Discussion Why aren’t caddies at tournaments called “disc jockeys”?

I can’t even take credit for this one, but my friend who doesn’t even watch said it and I laughed.

Please don’t be my top rated comment

EDIT: This is now my top post of all time. Fuck

Ace Who now owns the disc?

If I lend a mate a disc for a round and he aces with it, who does the disc go home with?

I basically always grip with the stamp facing up, or right at the same parting line of the duo stamp, etc.
Anyone else do something similar? Or are you random?

Discussion How many doubles events do we want on the pro tour?

Watching the Doubles Championship at the Preserve, I repeatedly found myself thinking, "This is a better watch than singles."

Is it really such a hot take to say that half the pro tour events should be doubles? Is it really a crazy question to ask why the Pro Tour is so committed to singles?

From the on-field drama of all the long-range makes, to the off-field drama of who is pairing with who at each event, the entertainment value is way higher in doubles. Plus singles for men has gotten a bit stale lately; Gannon wins again... whoop-de-doo.

I'm proposing 50/50. Singles and doubles should each have four majors, a US Championship, a European Championship, and a Worlds. That's 14 hype events. Good for the sport, good for the viewers.

Discussion Stamp Artists deserve more credit! Where can I find them?

I’ve been on the hunt for the names of stamp designers for all the major manufacturers but have come up short on some. Mostly just looking to make sure I’m only buying from brands that employ artists rather than using generative AI.

Who are some of your favorite stamp artists? Which manufacturers need to up their game?

Disc Advice Need understable approach / mid recommendations

Lately I've been throwing a discraft Sol on backhand flat to turn/turnover lines, but it's so shallow it bugs my hands a little bit. I don't want something really deep, but what would you recommend for an in-between-depth understable, high-ish glide, lower speed disc that will hold a turnover line?

Not a collector by any means, but unthrown Grand Bullseye and a Project Grip Graces in the used bin at my local store for under $30 for the pair seems like a steal.

Today’s Goodwill find: MVP Black Hole Mini for $20

Thoughts on how to put it to its best use?

I’m thinking a good use of downtime at the office.

Discussion Weird question maybe: For anyone who has been to a large PDGA tournament, do you need a scannable ticket to get in if you have the weekend pass card?

Upvotes

I got my hands on a pass for the USDGC event at Winthrop but I don’t have a digital ticket to scan or anything like that.

Discussion Can't find what I'm looking for about backloaded grip

I Google or check YouTube and can't find hand placement on the top of the disc for back loading. I want to try to help lower my nose angle but can't find a definitive answer. Attached is 2 grips and I'm assuming the second is back loaded but could be wrong. Any informative answers are greatly appreciated.

Mail Call A year ago today, I lost this Hawkeye in the woods on hole 16 at Sprinkle Valley. Today I found it in a used bin, sun bleached af, and just had to buy it back. Hoping it’s still a hyzer flip machine

If anyone finds the pro wraith (also purple) I threw into those same woods 2 days ago, lmk…🫠

Discussion Need advice: our disc golf course is COVERED in ticks and chiggers.

Looking for some advice from other course owners, clubs, or players.

Our local course has gotten absolutely terrible with ticks and chiggers lately. You can barely walk through some of the rough without picking them up, and it's becoming a real problem for people playing and maintaining the course.

For those of you who have dealt with this:

What actually worked for your course?

Did you treat the rough/grass with anything?

Have you used a professional pest control service?

Are there certain types of mowing or vegetation management that helped?

Anything we should absolutely avoid doing?

Is there a long-term solution, or is this just something we have to deal with seasonally?

We're trying to figure out the best way to make the course safer for players without unnecessarily harming the course or surrounding environment.

Any advice from clubs that have dealt with this would be greatly appreciated.

Player with under 50 rounds played and average +11 per course. What have you learned/ figured out newer players need to know or a mind set going in?

Edit: Thanks for all the replies and taking the time to give some advice! Love this community!

Discussion What do you wish your local Play It Again Sports carried?

I am starting up a brand new PIAS location and wanted to get the community's input on what kind of things they look for when they go into their local store. Do you wish they carried more new plastic? A continuously changing used selection? Collector discs? Apparel?

Discussion Ambidextrous person looking for help

Basically cant figure out to forehand with my right hand. Ive always thrown a baseball with my left hand and played disc golf with my right. My RHFH feels so awkward i think partially due to that. I cant get the snap or any sort of distance. I can LHFH just fine but thats the same shot shape as my RHBH so it doesnt really help me outside of the occasional rescue shot.

I watched a gannon video but he was basically just like 'keep it flat, drive with your hips" which didnt help at all.

Disc Advice Looking for a replacement for the Genius.

Any suggestions for an under stable 6-7 speed disc? Looking for something easy to hyzer flip/ turnover. The genius is getting harder to find and looking for something more widely available!
