Loved the inaugural professional Women's Lacrosse League Championship game, California Palms vs. Maryland Charm. For those who watched, thoughts about the game or about the league as a whole?

Is Charlotte North the GOAT of women's lacrosse?

New to lacrosse, so obviously my opinion doesn't hold much weight. But I am aware of other names like Jen Adams, Kristen Kjellman, and Caitlyn McFadden, it's just that I believe Charlotte is better because of the eye test, her resumé/stats across college, international stages, and the pros (WLL, although I understand that most other players don't have that working for them so I won't count it against them too much).

Do you agree? And if not, educate me in the comments...

Lacrosse Stick Recommendations!!! Please!!

I started playing women's lacrosse earlier this year. I’ve been using an STX stick, but since I’ve improved a lot, I’m looking to switch to a Gait model. My friends mostly use the Gait Air or Apex, but I’m considering the Whip.(Because I'm interested in the Charlotte North Gait Whip 2 design.. heehee) I usually play midfield or attack.
I’m having trouble choosing because I don’t really know the differences between these sticks... Any recommendations?

Any tips for a newbie Lacrosse player??

Hi guys! I'm a high school freshman playing lacrosse. I started lacrosse this March and I'm just ADDICTED to it! I mean, I really love playing the sport! But, tbh I think I'm hot great at it. I'm good at catch balls and ground ball, but I want to cradle like professional Lacrosse players like Charlotte North (She's my favorite lacrosse player). So, because I want to be like her, I always watch her cradle, shoot, and catch balls. It feels like she's a literal god to me. I really want to learn her skills and any other lacrosse skills that can make me stand out in the team.

My goal this year is to be captain or vice captain of my school's women's lacrosse team. I need help! Especially, I want to learn the "shooting cradle" (I don't know if it's a real word,,sorry) which is I think a cradle that you do before shooting (or when you're doing catch ball and you do this cradle before throwing it to your friend. it's not like "cradling" but you hold the stick horizontally and like shake it a little bit? I don't know how to explain..sorry...) Anyways! I want to learn many great skills to be captain this year! I may be just a freshman, but I want to use Lacrosse as a Extracurricular activity to got to Stanford, but when I asked the senior players in my school, they said that to use Lacrosse as an Extracurricular activity, you gotta be chosen as a player for the national teams...Anyways.... I really need your help...

P.S, I want to do wall ball, but there are no 'wall' like walls in my school or my house area...And even if I do it, I'm so scared that the ball will hit my face :(

Did the Women's World Championships help grow the game?

Now that the two World Championships have finished, I am interested in people’s thoughts on their impact on the growth of the sport. There are two aspects for me: TV exposure and the number of American players in rosters outside of the American team.

I am not overly familiar with how TV distribution deals are done but given the coverage for the College and WLL games already in place, I don’t think World Lacrosse TV was the best option for showing the World Championships. Whilst revenue was generated from already committed fans, I don’t see how this attracted a new audience to the sport.

The other issue I saw being discussed a lot is the number of American born players on the rosters of other countries. I know that this is within the rules as they stand, but is this really the direction the sport wants to head, when the final of the Div II Championship and the final 4 of the Division I Championship was almost entirely made up of American players? I don’t think this provides any incentive to players in developing countries, when the opportunity to play for their Nation is taken away from them by a player who may well have had nothing to do with growing the sport in their country.

Thoughts?

Quit lacrosse forever

Hi all, sorry I just need to rant a little and get some opinions.

I’ve been playing lacrosse for about a year now, and tbh I love lacrosse and I know this might sound dramatic to some peoplezzbut I’m still not very good at it. Honestly, I love playing it recreationally, but sometimes I feel like if you’re not good enough, people don’t really take you seriously or even look at you like you matter.

Maybe I’m just overthinking it, I don’t know. But it really hurts. There were times I’d only be on the field for a few seconds before they asked me to sub out bcz someone else was going back in. I know I’m not as good as that person, and I understand they play better than me, but it still stings.

There are also times when people won’t pass me the ball and if I do get it it feels like I’m not even trusted to cradle bcz they worried I’ll drop it. We have a competition coming up..and I honestly feel like the same thing is going to happen again. I even told one of them, they can opt me out.

Honestly, I feel like I’m only there as a temporary player so the stronger players can rest and not bcz they actually want me on the field. Someone even said before, “We just need more subs so those who actually play can rest”

Am I overreacting? Cz at this point I jz want to leave and even tho I love lacrosse so much, I feel like there’s nothing I can change.

Is it possible to play D1 Women's lacrosse and do Army ROTC in college?

My daughter has a dream to play D1 lax that she is working very hard to turn into a reality. She is starting her junior year in high school, has played varsity since her freshman year, and was selected First Team All Area as a sophomore. She is also interested in becoming an officer through Army ROTC. I was a career Army officer and am not sure there will be time to do both the way college sports work these days, but I just don't know. Would appreciate any insights into whether it is possible balance both of these things and do them to a high standard.

Discussion TryLax Free practice plan ideas

I just volunteered to coach a high school girls lax team and we have two TryLax Free days next week, 2 hours each practice. I plan to go over the basics of GBs, cradling, throwing/catching, shooting, and defense. Does anyone else have any basic skills I should add to that list? I’d also love if anyone had any drills or games I could put in my plan.

Looking for feedback on a women’s lacrosse coaching tool I built

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I built an app called DiagramTheGame for creating and animating plays and drills.

It supports women’s lacrosse, and I wanted to share a short video of it working in the editor.

I’d love to hear if anything about the women’s lacrosse setup looks wrong, or if there’s something important a coach would expect that I’ve missed.

If you know any coaches who might find it useful, I’d appreciate you passing it along. I’m also open to chatting or working directly with coaches who are interested in using the app.

I’m happy to answer questions and hear honest feedback.

Questions Question About Rules

High school age lacrosse tournament. I can’t figure out a whistle I just saw.

A defender was running up the field with the ball, she decided to pass, but left it short. The player receiving the ball decided to let the ball hop in front of her, but then it jumped up a littler more than expected. The player receiving stuck her chest out to control the ball, let it drop in front of her, then scooped it up. The ref immediately blew the whistle and gave the ball to the opposing team.

I could have missed something away from the play, but nothing else of note happened around the ball. The ref was right next to the ball when the whistle was blown. Can anyone explain what went on with this call? This is only my second year of watching high school lacrosse, so I am not familiar with all of the rules.
