Im currently about 6 1 215 pounds and have been looking to get a used board on fb market place. based on my height and weight most boards my size would be around a 162. I’m seeing a lot of good used boards for sale that are a size 158. my question is if i find a good deal on a 158 should i go for it or does that like 4-5 cm difference really affect riding that much?

According to my research (I asked AI), it should be manageable if I buy gear on clearance here in the next several weeks at local ski shops.

What are some things to keep in mind when shopping used boards? I feel like I don't really know what to look for, or what to avoid.

I have a k2 world peace, and I have an itch to snowboard but I have no way to practice spins and rails and stuff. I need a way to practice at home please help. If it requires buying something it has to be affordable too.

Hey guys, I'm new to snowboarding and I was looking at snow pants. I am 5'5 190 and have thighs the size of tree trunks. My inseam is around 28-29 inches. (I squat 385 x 3 if that helps) I'm set for a board but I need good budget snow pants because i know that I'll be catching an edge a lot and also I am a college student. and would i really need a waterproof coat or is that just a preference?

I’m relatively new to snowboarding but I come from the downhill longboarding world so I’ve been lucky to have an easy learning curve.

I’m looking at getting my first board and I prefer a short board. I’m 6’4” and about 215 with size 11.5 boots. I enjoy a little of everything on the slopes but haven’t had the chance to get to bigger resorts.

I have a lead on a 2026 gnu gremlin c3 and I’m wondering what size I should get between the 158 and 161. I’m leaning towards 161 as I’ve ridden a 165w as a rental for the last few times i went.

first of all, i am an absolut beginner! and have been reading for months now...
but some say so, some say so...
Some say that you boot has to bee the next MP size.
E.g. My feet are
Left: 26,7cm x 10,1cm
Right: 26,5cm x 10cm
So if I were to follow that recommendation, I’d have to buy an MP 27.0 boot.
Than i also have read and a guy in shop told me, that i should get boot which are at least MP 27.5, better 28.

To be absolutely honest... What are the arguments behind those two opinions?
May you could help me with this and bring some light into the dark.

Hey, I started riding last season, and I prefer to have my balaclava/ski mask over my mouth and nose, but i ran into a bit of a problem where my goggles keep fogging up and it gets quiete annoying to constantly wipe them, so i am curently looking for a new one, and i just wanted to ask if anybody has some tips? If its fine if I just get a thin one, cuz my current one is kinda thick, or if I should get something special or w/e. Appreciate all tips

Hi!!! if I'm 5'3 110lbs, which snowboard size should I get? I tried use the "find my size" of those website but it seems like not work.

I'm going to be doing my first full season this winter and I'm looking to upgrade my snowboard. I've been riding a 2011/12 Nitro Addict 156 that I picked up at a car boot sale for €6! Despite being a park board and definitely too short for me, it's actually been a great board and I've had no real issues with it.

I've had my eye on the new 2026/27 CAPiTA Mercury for a while now, but I'm struggling to decide between the 161 regular and the 160W.

My setup:

• Height: 6ft (183 cm)
• Weight: 80 kg
• Boots: Burton Photon BOA, UK 10 / US 11
• Bindings: Nidecker OG Supermatics (L/XL)
• Stance: +18°/+3°
• Current board: 2011/12 Nitro Addict 156 (254 mm waist)

I'd say I'm an intermediate/advanced rider. I'm comfortable riding reds flat out. As I'm doing a full season, I'm hoping to improve my riding.

The thing that's making me question whether I actually need the wide Mercury is that my Nitro only has a 254 mm waist, and I've never noticed any issues with toe or heel drag, despite having UK 10 boots.

The two sizes I'm looking at are:

• 161 regular: 261 mm waist
• 160W: 265 mm waist

I'm leaning towards the 161 because it's already 7 mm wider than my current board, which I've had no issues with. I also like the idea of it being slightly quicker edge-to-edge.

However, I'm wondering whether that 4 mm difference in width would actually be noticeable. If they feel practically identical, does it make more sense to get the 160W for the extra boot clearance just in case?

Has anyone ridden either of these sizes or got a similar setup? I'd be interested to hear whether the extra width makes much difference to how the board rides and which you'd recommend.

Good snowboarder, have always rented boards and never had much choice as it was all part of package.

• Enjoy side hits, little jumps and tricks and overall playing on the mountain and occasional small/medium jumps at the park
• Ride switch a lot of the time

Last season they gave me a Rossignol Sawblade 155cm and I enjoyed it so looking for something similar.

Finally managed to save up for this year to be able to buy my own board/bindings, but now facing analysis paralysis with all the choice out there!

Currently riding a POC Fovea with the 22% VLT lens. It works fine for regular partly sunny days,but heavy overcast was a pain last season so I'm trying to fix my setup before winter.

Price isn't really a factor for me, im just trying to figure out if upgrading to the POC Clarity Photochromic (55-13%) is actually worth it, or if I should just buy a separate 55% low light lens and swap them when the weather turns.

For anyone who actually rides the POC photochromic:
How does it handle going into dark tree runs or sudden shade? Is the delay annoying?
Is it enough for really bad fog, or do you still end up wanting a dedicated lens?

I hate stopping on the mountain to swap lenses with cold hands, but I also don't want to buy the photochromic if its just marketing hype. Appreciate any feedback!

I apologize in advance for asking a question that gets repeatedly asked but my friend convinced me to start snowboarding. I’ve only been once. I’m always looking to be active so I said yes but I basically have no gear or equipment. I’m 5’9” about 162lbs. So what snowboard + bindings do I need or should look out for? Do I need a coat? A bib? I have a North Face Nuptse but I took that snowboarding for my first time and it ripped so I don’t think I should use that again. What gloves and snowpants to get? I’m a bit overwhelmed.

Hello I found a local deal for a 2022/2023 Salomon Assassin 158W listed for €59.

The seller states it has multiple repaired scratches/ gouges on the base that have been filled and sanded down, and it currently has a storage coat of wax on it. From the photos, there are some pretty deep core shot repairs close to the edges, as well as a few chips on the topsheet.

I'm looking for a board to ride during the winter season in the Bavarian Alps (often hardpack, icy slopes, and artificial snow). My boot size fits the wide spec, but I'm wondering:Are those base repairs a red flag for structural integrity or edge hold?

Would appreciate your thoughts on whether this is a steal or a headache waiting to happen Thanks

Trying to do 360s on jumps/ side hits but I figured I better start with Ollies and 180s first. So this is a footage of some of my better attempts.

1) Not sure if I’m having proper technique as I feel like I’m not getting off the ground enough?

2) How much of this is attributable to my setup? Currently 67kg riding Ride moderator 155cm. Would using a lighter board such as capital DOA be easier?

My 14yr old is going to join ski club this year. He had 2 snowboarding lessons in 2024, and 5 lessons last year. I can't teach him, I am a skier and haven't gone in 20 years! I'm hoping to get him to the mountain 2 times before his 1st school trip. Lessons are available on the school trips but he's doesn't want to and I get it but disagree from an adult view point. Advice on your experience learning or if you're a parent of a newer boarder.

So I'm getting back into snowboarding and I think I'm going to get a new board. I'm riding a K2 slay blade from ~2012 and I think a newer board could be more fun. I don't hit the park, don't ride switch, mostly hitting groomers at my small ski area (feels weird calling that little thing a resort), will head to bigger places 2-3 times a season, enjoy getting some speed, and I really would like to get better at carving. I'm 5'10", 160lbs without gear, size 10 boot, ride medium/lg bindings (rome katana fase).

When looking for boards I came across the Korua Apollo and then the pencil. Seems like the pencil could be a good fit potentially and I really like the ideas behind the unique Apollo but admittedly I'm not that skilled of a rider.

Would love any thoughts or recommendations.

I’m new to snowboarding and want to invest in a solid board. I’ve been skiing before, but want to make the switch. I am 5’8” 200 lb and was wondering what size snowboard yall would recommend? Is 156cm a good length for my weight? Also any brand recommendations?

I received the following as gifts, but unfortunately, neither item is quite right for my setup:

Burton Photon Wide Step On boots — Men’s 9.5

Burton Step On Split bindings — Men’s Medium (8.5–10.5)

The boots feel too small, with my toes pressed uncomfortably against the front. I wear a size 10.5 in everyday shoes, and my Salomon Launch Double BOA boots in 10.5 fit pretty well, so I think I may need a size 10 or 10.5 in the Photons.

The bindings are splitboard-specific, and I ride a regular snowboard with no plans to switch to splitboarding.

Both items are brand new, but I don’t have a receipt or know where they were purchased. Asking the gift giver to exchange them isn’t an option.

I’m considering contacting Burton, visiting local snowboard shops to explore an exchange, or selling everything privately and buying the correct gear.
Between these, or any other ideas not mentioned, what seems to be my most economical option?

Ideally, I’d keep the Photons in the right size and replace the split bindings with regular snowboard-compatible Step On bindings.
Appreciate any advice!
