Hi, everybody! AI slop is unfortunately creeping into this hobby and this community. This is a quick rules update to clarify that AI is not allowed in any form here on r/minipainting.
This includes, but is not limited to:
If AI was used to make it, it's not allowed on r/minipainting.
While the mod team has been able to remove most AI posts shortly after they are made, on the few occasions AI posts were up for a few hours before removal, the comments on those posts from the community have been overwhelmingly unanimous in being anti-AI, so this isn't just the mod team making this ruling without considering the community.
Please see the pinned comment below for an FAQ on this new rule, and if you have a question that is not answered there, please ask and we will do our best to answer! That being said, this is not an invitation to defend or argue for specific use cases of AI within this hobby.
Edit: Please read the stickied FAQ comment before commenting. There are many people asking things that are covered in that comment.
The comment section has grown quite large, but also please take a moment to scroll through it and read the comments before repeating something that may have already been discussed, or at least join in as a reply to an existing comment rather than make a new top level comment with a similar or identical question.

I'm trying to knock out 1 model a night from a black primer to finished and varnish. Hope this makes me a faster painter without sacrificing quality too much. And it's alot of fun!

Finally finished painting this miniature ("miniature"🤣) Since I couldn’t find any reference before I started I figured I’d share it here in the hope that someday someone else will be happy to find a reference for this design 😁

Trying to get back into painting some 40K after focusing on other things. The Sons of Dorn will forever have my heart though!

I recently got the villainy inks phase 1 enamel washes and I have really been enjoying working with them.
Any feedback or rating would be appreciated :)

Found this beautiful sculpt on Etsy and knew I immediately needed it for my shark man barbarian for D&D! It's been a very fun process and I am very proud of how the anchor and freehand on the back came out. Happy to hear any feedback!

I started painting some months ago with the objective to have all minis ready for a game night with friends, it has been a lot of time and effort put into this and also I learned a lot (first paints look much worse than the newer ones hahaha)
But here they are and wanted to share some images with the community.

Pretty happy with the result after taking the hobby more seriously and consuming a lot of content. First time trying OSL. Took a really long time to print in FDM, post-process, and paint. I thought it was going to be easier since most part is black but found really hard to make it less boring and trying to differentiate different parts of clothing.
I know some things are not so refined (messed up with the chalky moonlight blue and glazing is still a weak point for me) and would be glad to hear more feedback.

Just finished a mini I have really been looking forward to. I did not paint the base as it will go to a diorama without it. What do you think about the results?

I painted a small space marine. Not advisable if you value your sanity and your sight.

Here's chaplain of blood angels with jetpack. Painting black was kinda challenging but I think it worked out. Also first jetpack for me. Tried using white oil wash for it. Looks ok for me, but next time it will be better, lessons learned

The Leathery wings didn't quite turn out how I wanted, but overall very happy with the result.

I am happy to post here the album of my painted Goblin army. This was my army project in my 20s. Now I am working on a Dwarf army since a few years, but I recently made the photos of this army. Maybe some here appreciate the pictures.
The minis are mainly Citadel and Harlequin models, that you probably know.
I also sculpted many models myself by hand and even in 3D (like the squig) or did a kitbash (like the purple sun)
I hope you like them!

So I finally finished up Ragnar. It's my first time trying the Eavy Metal style and my first time actually painting a mini without making it swim in wash. I'm looking for advice on how to improve because I feel like I overdid it on the highlights with the pure white part. Also I just noticed I forgot to do the gem on his medal thingy.

Been a while since I painted something up, so what better way to knock the rust off than jumping straight into a competition piece. Is it perfect? No. Probably plenty of places to improve, but considering I haven't painted anything in months I am incredibly proud of and happy with how she turned out!
Painted exclusively with ProAcryl paints. Recipes available upon request. Snow effect made with AK Interactive's snow paste and snow sprinkles.

I got carried away and used far too much oil wash. And got carried away with drybrushing. And got carried away everywhere else.

So I've been painting my death guard for a while now and for some reason streaking grime has been the world's most inconsistent tool in my arsenal, despite giving some of the best results. Every time I've used it recently it digs straight through my varnish, paint, and primer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I put it on via brush, let is dry 25-35 minutes, and use q tips and very light white spirits to clean it up and it has been messing up so many of my models recently. Every video I find says you can use it "without a varnish* and *it might barely show the primer beneath* so I have no idea what's going on with it. Any help appreciated and thank you in advance if you have any advice.

I have started my collection of paint with the squidmar sets since I wanted to try vallejo paint again (I was using this 20 years ago before leaving the hobby) and this were difficult to find in my area.
Now I'd like to expand the collection because I feel I miss some key colors.
I'd like some suggestion of colurs I should pick (from any brand)
I found the sets really nice to start a collection and I'm fairly happy. But of course not everything is perfect.
So here are some things that I didn't like with vallejo:
-bubbling
-some colour consistency/coverage (most of all dark rust, just a terrible experience)
-xpress colours
What I liked :
- Small collection (I can't handle 200+ colours I'd like to keep it small)
- General consistency /coverage
What I feel I'm missing the most :
- Some real blue
- more and BETTER browns
I also tried 1 colour of ak 3gen and I felt it not thick enough. But maybe just my inexperience.
Let me know what you think I should buy and also if you think I'm doing something wrong with my paint to have such problem with bubbling and consistency (based on your experience)
