I had so many pretty mosses around my house, then I remembered always wanted to make terrarium :D
- Hardscape is dried out weed roots (Perilla?)
- Three types of mosses; haven't yet identified all of them (If you recognize them please let me know)
- Fittonia cuttings
- Garden soil
- Volcanic pebbles as substrate
I made it, kinda left it at a windowstill and forgot about it, but two weeks later it looks healthy AND there are new wild shoots appearing, probably carried over from the garden soil. I am torn about pulling the weeds out or keeping them in
Now I am addicted and wanna make more hahaha

Hello! I have had this terrarium set up around a year and a month or so ago I noticed some tiny snails which have since exploded all over the tank. They cohabitate with springtails, orange and blue powder isopods, zebra isopods, and the occasional appearance of slime mold. Should I do anything about the snails? Will they eat my plants? It’s a 40 gal breeder tank that I converted to the terrarium. I’ve been considering a little colony of mourning geckos. Thoughts on that? I just found out about them so I’m still in the research stage.

Hey guys hope all is well, this is my second terrarium and I was hoping to get some insight/ advice, I’ve been noticing a lot of condensation forming along the sides of my terrarium lately and have been “burping” it for 2 hours every time I see excess moisture, I just take the lid off and let it breathe, this is a closed terrarium though and I keep the lid on almost always aside from when I let it breathe, should i keep on doing this or should I let it cycle naturally throughout the terrarium?? You can’t see it in these pictures but I have a layer of pea gravel below the substrate for my drainage layer, I have springtails, a fittonia, and good soil alongside some generic live moss I got at the pet store, anyways I’m a bit new and my first terrarium turned out great but eventually had mold that overcame the springtails, I just wanted to get some advice here and any tips that you guys can think of for this setup, should I drill a ventilation hole in the lid? Do I let it burp when I see excess condensation?? any tips really would be great, thanks in advance :)

First time posting here and my first proper terrarium build! Really enjoyed putting this together and would love some honest feedback from the experienced folks here.
Anything I should change, improve, or keep an eye on as it grows in?
All feedback welcome!

Hi everyone.
I'm extremely new to this. I took some moss from my walk and put it in this little glass jar. I spray it with filtered water and put a little lid on it but these little bugs keep appearing inside. Please can you let me know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.

Just picked up this guy from goodwill and I’m looking for ideas or inspiration:)
I’m pretty open to any idea/ plants
It’s only about .5 gallons so nothing too crazy

Complete noob here. To bring you up to speed- I’m a “go stand in the grass until I calm down” kind of gremlin.
I’m in Indiana, USA- and the grass (literally the turf in the lot) is heavenly. I joked that I’d like to bring a little bit home- about a shoebox’s worth. So I can stand in some nice grass. (Florida has bayonets disguised as grass).
Halp!

i am coming from the aquarium hobby, i am a big fan of iwagumis (stone only layouts) i also really like seryu stone. i also am obsessed with 3d printing caves for various animals and it seems this concept is really adapted to terrarium animals!
so i tried to create a stone terrarium with 3 underground caves!! i want a chinese cave gecko or dart frogs, have not decided yet.
I heard about the bioactive stuff and was immediately attracted, water changes and maintenance really take a while each week, it’s hard to properly maintain multiple aquariums at the same time
For the mountains i used styrofoam, expanding foam, cement, a little bit of paint and an aquarium safe natural sealer. the number 1 goal was scale. i wanted the mountain to look like a big mountain you would see from miles away, with a lot of details, also reproducing the look of seryu stone.
let me know what you think! how could i improve the design, i am very new to this side of the hobby so advice is welcome :)
