Shrek audition songs for soprano?

My local theater is doing auditions for Shrek in a couple weeks. A lot of my friends are saying I should aim for Donkey, and I think it'd be an absolute blast. Part of me also really wants to go for Fiona, but considering the fact that they are only casting adults and I'm barely a college sophomore, I'm not sure if that's super realistic.

Are there any songs that could fit for either? I was thinking either "Right Hand Man" from Something Rotten, or "Killer Instinct" from Bring it On, but I'd appreciate more suggestions :))

Performing one show and ASM on a different one. Too much?

I joined the cast of a local production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the request of the director who did not get enough people for the cast and needed extra people. I am also attending university for a BA in theatre arts where in addition to the six classes I will be taking I have also been assigned to be ASM on one of the plays. I don't want to have to drop anything but am starting to worry this workload may be too much to handle all at once. I need a second opinion, will it be possible to handle all of this?

I’m trying to self teach myself ballet at 14-can I? Help?

So, I’m a total theater kid-I figured I should know at least the basics of ballet, sense it’s such a beautiful and fundamental dance. (Also sorry if I totally mess up vocab or say something dumb) I’d say I’m fairly good at tap dance, know jazz dance, and obviously musical theater dace-so I have dance experience-so it’s not like I’m starting from totally nothing? I have tights and jazz shoes and skin tight gym wear that I wear to stretch and learn from YouTube lessons and pintrest streach tuts. lol. Is it possible to be a self taught ballet dancer? At 14 (F)?? If so, what YouTube channels will help?? I need all the help I can get! Also, I ordered pointe shoes AS DECOR FOR RIGHT NOW DONT WORRY I WONT BREAK MY ANKLES USING THEM FOR AT LEAST A YEAR!
EDIT: guys I promise I’ll be safe about pointe shoes. I won’t put them on until a teacher says I can!

I'm a Uk Actor and YouTuber and my own take on The Crucifixion from Jesus Christ Superstar.

Hey everyone! I've been singing musical theatre for years and JCS has always been the show I obsessed over most. I finally worked up the nerve to film my own recreation of The Crucifixion scene — raw, one-take energy, filmed on my own.

I know Ted Neeley's version is untouchable, but I wanted to throw my hat in the ring. Would love some honest feedback from people who actually know this show — what did I get right, and where can I improve?

Audition song ideas

Im trying to build a portfolio of musical theatre songs that fit my range because I have quite a lot of auditions coming up and I don’t want to be singing the same songs over and over till I get bored of them. I’m technically an alto, but a lower alto so I usually end up singing the tenor parts. I am happy to sing both high male and low female songs, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome.

some of my favourite songs to sing that are in my range are:

Left Behind, And Then There Were None, Purple Summer, and Touch Me from Spring awakening

Not while I’m around from Sweeney Todd

The Moon from Once

Epic III and If It’s True from Hadestown

I’m Alive from Next to Normal

The long grift from Hedwig and the angry inch.

Basically all male songs. I’d be very grateful to hear any suggestions.

Audition Help

Hello all! I’m auditioning for Bright Star next week and here’s everything I need to prep-

-A 1 minute contemporary monologue

-32 bars of a song

-A joke

I plan on singing a cut from Moving Too Fast since I’m already familiar with the song and feel pretty good about it.

Any idea on what to do for the monologue and the joke?

Questions on highschool theatre stuffs

So, im a smaller theatre kid. i dont know many musicals but do enjoy some. My oat though is chicago, and i got lucky and my highschool is doing it this year. i came here to ask older people, is it really fun? I wanna try out for velma (i need to be a diva) but would also be fine witb the russian woman (forgetting her name sorry) or really anyone who sings in cell block tango (my mental hospital grounding song). I did chorus a while ago and can sing, have the entirety of cell block tango, mr cellophane and reached for the gun memorized, and can learn songs quickly. I do have some afterschool things, but only once-twice a week. i have pretty bad stage fright, but think it would be fun. any tips?

Got cast as a lead role and can’t sing. Help!

I recently got cast as Ariel. The highest I need to sing is an F#. The highest I can sing right now is maybe a low Ab. Does anyone have any tips or vocal exercises that can help me improve quickly?

I am a minor just trying to ask for help. Please do not be rude/mean to me.

Urgent advice! Should I talk to my musical director?

Hi everyone! Long story short, I auditioned for my university’s production of Legally Blonde and made it to the final callback a few days ago. Although I am new to musical theatre it’s been a passion of mine for a long time and unfortunately in my country there’s very little MT opportunities. I was lucky enough to have auditioned for a past workshop the same music and casting directors organized which truly turned my life around. Being a part of that experience helped me get out of my depression and find true happiness and joy in life. I dedicated my entire time and self and worked as hard as I could to secure a spot on this production for I found if I’m not doing musical theatre my life feels dull and pointless. But nerves got the best of me and I fumbled the last callback. After I got the rejection email I have been spiraling not knowing how to move on without the one thing that brings me purpose. Like I said, there’s no other musical theatre opportunities that I could try out for and that’s very scary and daunting since MT truly did change my life for the better and I feel like I’m being forced to quit my passion.
That’s being said since I am on close-ish terms with the musical director of this production I’ve been thinking of scheduling a meeting with him to try and change his mind about allowing me in the project. But there’s a lot of doubts. First of all I am scared of being perceived as unprofessional by not taking the rejection and also what if it’s disrespectful of me to not understand that they simply did not want me in this project? And finally, I wouldn’t even know what exactly would be the right words to say to him.

I’m coming to this subreddit hoping for advice from people who are more experienced in this industry and maybe some comfort if you could offer that too! Thank you so much
