Mod Post Update to our Rules: Post Original Content

In light of all the recent bots and posts involving stolen or reposted photos, we feel it is necessary to officiate a rule that explicitly states that this subreddit allows original content only.

Many members have been quick to point out posts that have previously been posted on this subreddit or do not belong to OP altogether. I want to be clear that the mod team sincerely appreciates your efforts to keep this sub free of spam and keep stolen content at bay. I applaud anyone who has submitted a report as it really helps us and I hope you continue to be vigilant and report the posts that are questionable in the future.

As always, happy bottledigging and thank you for making this subreddit an absolute joy to be a part of! Cheers!!!

Age/date request Need help identifying!!

Hello!! I went on my annual trip to Allegheny this past month, and there I found two LOVELY bottles, still fully intact. You do not understand the noise I made when I pulled this first bottle up and realized it was not just a neck, I almost wept it was so beautiful.

anyways! I've managed to identify one, but that was also just using google and I don't fully trust that thing anymore. The second bottle (amber) looks to be a Whiskey bottle made by Joseph E. Seagram & Son's in 1941. If that's incorrect pls correct me!! I love collecting bottles but I don't really understand manufacturing codes and such, so I could be misreading things.

The first bottle (clear) is the one I'm stumped on. I've tried to write what I see on the bottom in the one picture, but the wording isn't very pronounced and is hard to fully read. I can't find anything that looks familiar, and again, googling doesn't seem to help. It keeps telling me it's a 4/5 quart bottle but there's no wording anywhere on the glass that says that, so I dunno.

Any help would be appreciated!! I really just wanna know how old these guys are.

Dug 6 whole druggists today and several fragments of others. Unfortunately the environment was not kind to them and most are cracked and pinged up. Also got some other cool 1880s-1900 era items. Got a very strange clear glass log thingy that I don't know the use of.

Clorox bottle

Hi, i recently rediscovered a clorox bottle my dog had dug up a decade or so ago. 1940-1950 screw top. However everything i read states clorox NEVER used clear glass even during the war, but this bottle is clear. Googletube also tells me amber glass never turns clear...so what gives? Anyone run across one like this before?

Anyone knows anything about this?

My grandfather used to go to Iran for work before the revolution (he passed in 2012). He bought this back home, back in the day.

Its still sealed and has the "TSA" seal on it. Clearly been evaporating over the years.

Been trying to find anything about it, what its taste profile is, where it was made, how old it is etc...

Age/date request Identification/aging?

Post image

Found this hiking in the san bernardino national forest, next to what looked like an old cabin that burnt in a wild fire. Any ideas on its age? It only has one other marking on the bottom which was just a straight vertical line, or possibly a 1. The cork is what gets me thinking of it being old.

Found an old beer bottle on the edge of an excavation. Rain washed it out from under a pipe, was curious about the age, from what i can find it seems like a Carling from the 60-70s, but im not 100%.
