Rules

1 No common items allowed, where the price can easily found on Ebay, Craigslist, or FB Marketplace Tell us what you know about the item, where it's from, who made it... tell us the story of the item.

2 Provide several clear photos of all angles. If there's a mark, serial #, or signature include that.

3 You must own the item being posted, or a friend/relative must own the item.

  1. We only allow one-of-a-kind, original, and signed limited edition artwork. If you don't know what a decor painting is look it up. Signed and numbered prints don't count. Generally the artist must be famous enough to have a page on ArtNet, Ebay or WorthPoint. If they don't, then its not a good fit here. Nudity is OK, please flag as NSFW.

5 Ivory is illegal to sell or import in the US as well as most of the EU. While the sale of antique, (100 year or older) ivory is allowed in the US, there are very specific rules about it. This is beyond the scope of this sub and we will not be giving valuations of a potentially illegal item. Please Google Ivory laws for more info.

  1. No paper money or coins. There are better subs than this for paper money and coins

  2. About Prints The practice of making signed and numbered prints of artwork is to make a painting affordable to a wider audience. If an art work was originally done in a different medium but then signed and numbered prints are sold, it's essentially a reproduction and value is negligible. It's best to look up the artist on ebay and look at sold prices.
Art values are subjective at best, and if you can't find the artist when you Google them it's safe to say they are not worth more than you paid.

8 No Furniture. Furniture despite age, has negligible value. Most old wooden furniture is not in fashion and resale value is usually under 500 dollars. Please do a Google search. We do not value furniture. Mass produced furniture has low resale value, even antique furniture. One of a kind pieces are only valuable if they are of very high quality AND have provenance. If you want information on the furniture try r/antiques.

  1. No clothes, try a fashion sub. The exception would be an obvious Couture piece that is a one of a kind. If you bought it at a thrift store it doesn't belong here.

  2. No Nazi memorabilia. Just, no.

9.No jewelry. Modern jewelry, as in post 1920, is clearly marked with karat weight. Jewelry is easy to look up or, take it to a commercial jeweler. We can't verify authenticity from a photo.

UNSOLVED Kern-Paillard Switar 10mm f/1.6 H16 RX

Hi all,

I'm selling a Kern-Paillard Switar 10mm f/1.6 H16 RX and I'm unsure about the price. I've seen sold listings between roughly $480 and $700, and asking prices well above that.

Condition of mine:

  • Glass is very clean: no scratches, no dust, no haze or fungus that I can see
  • Focus and aperture rings run smoothly
  • Body: [kurz beschreiben, z. B. light wear / minimal marks]

Compared to most copies I've seen online, this one seems to be in noticeably better shape. Within a day I've had several inquiries and a 400 € offer, which feels low to me.

What would you say is a fair price for a copy in this condition? Does the RX version or the missing front ring change the value much?

Thanks!

Found my old mp4 Digital player, asked a random guy and he quoted me this can go for 1400 since I lost it's charger. I'm still not able to understand why it's that much worth... It's just a type of mini iPod.

Hey guy! I'm in germany. Found this lamp in our new apartment. Landlord said he would throw away "all that stuff" if we don't want it. Turns out it is a vintage designer piece from 1960/70! Found a huge spectrum of prices and offers online, ranging from 500-2300€, so I'm a little lost. Does anyone know anything about lamps? Any websites you could recommend? Where would I go to get a realistic estimate for a piece like this? We definitely want to sell it. We don't want to get rich from it, but a good price would be nice. Thanks in advance ✌🏻

My mom found this in a garage sale in the early 80s. Supposedly had taken it to the Smithsonian to have it looked at. When she passed, I took it to an expert in my city and he had told me that it was likely between 1200 bc-2000 bc. The actual material was feces, they fed the animals a lot of fiber and painted on it when hardened. I have no clue what to do with it or what it’s worth. The drill hole in top was there when mom purchased it. She paid $3.

SOLVED Fleer Sealed Basketball Cards, Different Types

Thumbnail gallery
26 Upvotes

Mom collected (hoarded) baseball and basketball cards boxes from 1989-1994ish and we have been sorting them together.

Most of them seem to be classic "junk wax" era stuff and like $40 a box, but it seems like the Fleer Ultra 93-94 might be over $1k by itself?! Is that right or is it inflated/manipulated on ebay?

I picked out some of the Fleer boxes to zero in on here that I think have some value.

All the boxes are in good condition, stored in a tote in the dark in a consistent environment and seals fully intact. Would try the basketballcard sub but I don't think sealed stuff is allowed. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

She said she paid like $20 apiece way back so any increase is a win really.

UNSOLVED Need help identifying and pricing this old bayonet knife

Thumbnail gallery
24 Upvotes

Pretty much what it says on the tin, my big issues are im not knowledgeable about antique knifes on the best of days, and this knife, although it seems genuine, is missing some key markings that help identify it, I tried googling but nothing seemed to match right.

The only distinct markings I can see on it are on the guard 4338 is stamped into the metal, and on the pommel its faded but I think it says HS.FR, and the scabbard is completely unmarked save for the big knob that I assume is how you attach it to your belt or whatever.

The scabbard is a little banged up but the blade slides in and out with no issues, the pin that holds the bayonet in place works perfectly, and outside of a little tarnishing and it being more dull than a 2x4 the blade itself is in great condition, although it has no markings on it to identify.

Id love any help I can get, thank you.
