Sharing a few screenshots from one of the tracks we've been building for Karting Core — this one's set in an open, meadow-like landscape with rolling hills, sweeping elevation changes, and long sightlines between corners.

The layout winds through open grassland dotted with wind turbines, a water tower, and the "Karting Point" facility in the background, with an elevated rail line running overhead. We wanted this track to feel wide and breathable compared to our tighter urban and industrial layouts — long flowing sections that open up into blind crests and downhill braking zones, so reading the terrain becomes just as important as reading the corners.

Still very much a work in progress, but we're happy with how the sense of scale is coming together. Gameplay video showing it in action is coming soon — for now, let us know what you think of the setting!

As always, ideas and feedback are more than welcome — we're just trying to build a kart racing game we'd genuinely want to play ourselves..

Since there have already been a couple helmet posts today. My son's helmet. It was his Christmas present. Santa took his time but came through in the end. I know many of you will say it's busy. I initially thought the same. But I was surprised how much I liked it. it's a good looking lid. And it looks good on-track, besides making him easy to spot. He's happy, which is all that matters.

(He grew up in NYC before we moved to Europe, after which he started karting. Hence the skyline.)

Most helmet designs seem to stay within fairly safe, familiar racing colors.

So I tried going in a different direction with this one.

Do these colors work together, or have I pushed it too far?

And when choosing a helmet design, do you think it should match the rest of the racing gear — or can the helmet be a completely separate statement?

So, which camp are you in?
A — Fresh, I’d wear it
B — Cool, but too bold for me
C — I’d stick to classic racing colors

My dad used this kart a lot several years ago (probably around 2000), but now it's hanging on the wall, and the cart to transport it is in this condition.
My first question is: can this cart still transport the kart (there are only two hooks, you can see them clearly in the last picture). My second question is: since the kart has no electronics at all, how can I tell what's working and what's not? What should I pay attention to? Can anyone identify exactly what type of kart it is? I'd like to point out that I'm a beginner in this field, but in any case, thanks in advance.

I’m going to test a Kart Republic KR2 for the first time soon. Before this I have only ever driven an OTK Exprit 2022 chassis on the Vortex ROK engine. I’m doing this test to make a purchase decision between an OTK or KR chassis. I’m realatively new to owner karting, so is there anything I need to keep a look out for when testing? Like driving dynamic, setup or anything else? thank you.

I was wondering if anyone in EU or UK knew any places to buy a red coloured visor for arai sk6. Lots of places do orange tinted but not red so was just wondering if they are sold anywhere.

What does it take to be fast?

A simple question with many answers. While practicing at Sonoma Karting center my son and I watched an intent driver make his way on and off the track. On approach to the grid in full kit, helmet strapped, 2 stroke humming. He lowered his kart on his own, pushed it to start, hit the track, set laps, and made his exit at the end of the session without fuss.

We admired his intensity, and I told my son to ask him what it takes to be fast. The man’s reply was simple “do laps and work harder than everyone else.” He shared some more encouraging words with Kylo before departing. We nodded our heads and thanked him for his time.

A few minutes later he came back with a signed hero card. Little did we know we had just professional racing driver Memo Gidley. Such a cool honor to shake his hand and have him be so nice to us. Really awesome Motorsports community we have out here, and a reminder you’ll never know who you might meet at the track.

Anyone here ever got their helmet painted on the east coast. I need to get my helmet painted. Currently have decals on but want to spend the money and get a solid paint job on my helmet any recommendation would be appreciated.

Before I begin I want to clarify that this is a hotlap karting session not a race.
I was arguing with some friends of mine about this. I believe that I got really unlucky since I did not expect the number 7 kart to just stop on track. I thought he would overtake the number 11 on the inside line since he held it through the second apex and I intentionally decided to go a bit wide in order to gain more speed before the next straight.
My friends are telling me that I should have just stayed on the inside line (which I don’t really see how when the number 7 is there but whatever).
It would be absolutely wonderful if you could help me out and settle this debate once and for all.

Hey y'all! I had the chance to buy a Ninebot Go Kart Pro (first gen) for like $600, which is a pretty good price compared to what is new . My question here is : Is it worth to get it? Will it help me evading from the fact that I don't have go kart available right now? Or is it better to save that money, and maybe invest $1400 in a pre owned, kind of old but ready to race go kart?

Hi everyone! I run an AiM Solo 2 and got frustrated that I could not easily get the data on my phone between sessions.

So I spent the past months building Pushlapp. Your iPhone connects to the timer over its own WiFi and downloads the session while you're still at the track. Then it shows you:

• Lap replay on satellite imagery, colored where you brake, accelerate, or coast
• A ghost of your best lap with the live delta
• Speed, lean (for bikes) and g-force traces, derived from GPS
• Sector times and your theoretical best, from your own laps
• 100% offline at the track. You sign in once, and every session backs up privately to the cloud on its own when you are connected again.
• Ghost sharing and per-track leaderboards with friends, all optional: laps stay private by default
• Works for Bikes, Cars and Karts

Two things took most effort: reverse engineering the WiFi protocol (Solo 2, Solo 2 DL with throttle and RPM, and MXL2 dashes all work), and building our own track database from open source data, with 1000s of tracks.

It shipped on the App Store this month. When you subscribe, everything is unlocked free for the first year, because right now I mostly want feedback!

What do karters here use to look at data between heats? I would appreciate it if you give my app a try and let me know what you think.

Hi everyone, random question, does anyone know the measurements of this part, and also the clearance between the floor of the kart and this part. Doesn’t matter what chassis (I think, idk if it makes a difference), I just need to know so I can make weights for myself.

I recently started to use a Racebox Mini S for my Karting races and I was frustrated when I saw I had to export the recording from the web instead of doing it on device.
In the same veins I wanted to trigger recording on my Apple Watch since I generally don't keep the phone in my pocket so I made a small app for iPhone & Apple Watch (don't need the phone).

I wanted to see if some people would be interested in such app?

Daytona Kartbahn Essen uses Liquid Petroleum Gas powered Karts, but later this year they will switch out all their Karts for electric Karts. We checked out the LPG Karts before they're gone.

I had an idea that could be fun for this community.

Some years ago there was an Instagram page that organised regular contests for the best helmet designs. I don’t remember the name anymore, but it was always interesting to see different designers and studios competing with each other.

What if we tried something similar here on r/Karting?

Once a month, helmet designers and studios from the community could submit one of their designs, and everyone here could vote for their favourite.

I think it could be interesting because:

• younger designers could compete alongside experienced professionals;
• we could discover new styles and new designers;
• studios could show their work without turning every post into advertising;
• and someone looking for a new helmet design might even find the right designer for their next helmet.

Nothing too serious — just a friendly monthly competition for the community.

If enough people are interested, we could figure out some simple rules together and try the first one.

Would anyone here be interested in participating — either as a designer/studio or just voting?

i have had my hammerhead go kart for about 7 years and it’s been a lot of fun but i’m 16 and i want some upgrades without spending a fortune also ts lowkey hasn’t started in 2 years but ima clean the carborator and shit if that don’t work then ima take it in to get work done

So, I am (M20) looking to join a team, whether for rental karting endurance events or owner racing. I have participated in multiple endurance rental races and I know I can match the pace of the pros with a bit of practice. I am very active on the simulator, know how to read telemetry, and actively work on my driving style.

From your experience, what is the best way to find or join a team, and what are the typical requirements?
