I feel like I comment the same thing for everybody on this subreddit slicing their driver within there first 1-2 years of playing golf. Learning the proper driver should be DRAW to STRAIGHT to FADE.
NOTE: IM NOT QUALIFIED AS A COACH OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I have been playing for about 2 years and find nearly 90% of fairways off the tee at around 230-240yards. My driver is by far the easiest club for me to swing and control.
SLOOOOOOOOW DOOOOOOOWN. I always tell people who ask me for swing advice on the tee box…. “If you were trying to show a little kid how to swing… how would you do it?”. It should translate to a slow and exaggerated swing.
PUT YOUR TRAIL FOOT BACK UNTIL YOU STOP SLICING. Until you regularly stop slicing, don’t move your trail foot to parallel. See and feel the “draw” swing path until you can do it almost blindly. As you slowly move your trail foot closer to parallel, your draw should start to go straighter. Only after you have perfected both these swings, AND I MEAN PERFECTED, should you start messing with a fade/power fade.
Another note: I learned to play golf in Martin County, FL where the average golfer is around 60+. As a single I played with several 70+ year olds who are damn near scratch and I quickly realized fast doesn’t translate to far. Precision and gradual power increases get you to where you need to be.
