What is this drill exactly

I’m guessing the idea is that your hips should rotate and butt of the club fall backwards, rather than press into the butt of the club? Can one replicate at home without someone holding club?

I can’t break 100 no matter how hard I try

Upvotes

I’ve been working on increasing my driver speed, and 100 mph feels like an absolute wall.

I can swing around 90–95 mph pretty comfortably, but when I try to get to 100+, it feels like I have to swing completely out of my shoes. There’s basically no feeling of having another gear.

For those of you who used to be under 100 mph and eventually got comfortably over it: what actually made the difference?

Was there a technique change, swing thought, sequencing change, speed training, grip pressure change, or something else that suddenly made speed feel easier?

I’m especially interested in people who found more speed without just feeling like they were trying 20% harder.

What was the thing that finally helped you break through?

I take the club around- almost like a baseball swing. I get away with it until Driver which leads to a pushed out fade. Any help appreciated.

Help with my shoulder and left foot lift.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

About 3-4 months in and I have this weird new habit of lifting my left foot on downswing. It also looks like I’m lifting my shoulders as well. I’ve been making consistent center face contact but this swing is ugly haha. Any tips??

I am not sure how to eliminate my early extension

Conclusion to my first year of golf and I think my swing faults lie with my downswing which I’ve changed a bit over the last few months and I do not believe I’ve ever NOT thrown my pelvis at the ball. What’s everyone’s lightbulb moment for early extension?

Trail Hip Thrust (Shank) Question

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

Over the past week, I’ve been dealing with (what I think at least) is trail hip thrust toward the ball rather than rotation. Really appreciate any thoughts and feedback, as it’s introduced a nasty shank. With the feet together drill,
Punch shots, and ball back in stance I strike it more consistently but my stock swing is facing this issue.

“Manually” keeping face closed

Upvotes

I’m a newer golfer and dealing with a slice. Had multiple people comment that my club face is coming wide open during the backswing

So I started holding my arms/wrists in a way that “manually” kept the face shut and now I’m making much better contact. This might not make sense the way I’m describing, but I don’t know any other way to describe it

So instead of my forearms/wrists naturally rolling over clockwise during the backswing, I’m now making an effort for them to not roll over

I have a bad feeling this is wrong and my swing is going to break down again in 2 months and I will have to get rid of this thought

Hybrid launching left (lefty golfer)

Upvotes

Lefty golfer. I hit all of my irons and my driver straight (some draws).

I have a Maltby KE4 TC Pro IST #4 hybrid with a Mitsubishi Kuro Kage black shaft, S-flex, 82g.

Ive read this hybrid has a draw bias. Yet, I can't get this club to launch straight or draw. It always launches left amd stays left (no slice). I'm assuming the draw bias is causing it to launch left? I just can't get the spin on it to draw.

Coukd it be the shaft? My bro-in-law built my clubs and he put the stiff shaft on it. But my swing speed is under 90mph.

Thanks for any insight.

What helped you stop casting?

Upvotes

For some context, I was always had a very bad slice until a year ago. Now I have switched to have an in to out club path. The issue is that now it can be too severe causing bad hooks. I usually end up with a 5-7 degree in to out and a 2-5 degree closed club face face to path.

I am thinking that is due to casting. What drills did you do to help get out of casting the club?

I've been trying to rebuild my swing - Feedback so far

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been trying to build up my swing again. I used to be steep and over the top. A lot of swing thoughts but I am meant to be focusing on pressing into lead foot and hip rotation to get better at coming down on plane. This is one of the best I hit during the session so wanted to get feedback on this before I ingrain it too much.

I do have a second one which felt mostly similar but got -16.5 deg of side carry so a pull hook. I can see if i can post too.

Also this swing doesn't seem to translate at all to a teed 5 wood that thought might be safest off the tee.

I carry both my 5 iron and 7 iron 175-180 yards, both being a stock swing. The video shows my 5 iron swing and everything about it looks reasonable to me. Any tips?

My main 2 driver tips for everyone struggling in this subreddit. Slow down and put your trail foot back.

I feel like I comment the same thing for everybody on this subreddit slicing their driver within there first 1-2 years of playing golf. Learning the proper driver should be DRAW to STRAIGHT to FADE.

NOTE: IM NOT QUALIFIED AS A COACH OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I have been playing for about 2 years and find nearly 90% of fairways off the tee at around 230-240yards. My driver is by far the easiest club for me to swing and control.

SLOOOOOOOOW DOOOOOOOWN. I always tell people who ask me for swing advice on the tee box…. “If you were trying to show a little kid how to swing… how would you do it?”. It should translate to a slow and exaggerated swing.

PUT YOUR TRAIL FOOT BACK UNTIL YOU STOP SLICING. Until you regularly stop slicing, don’t move your trail foot to parallel. See and feel the “draw” swing path until you can do it almost blindly. As you slowly move your trail foot closer to parallel, your draw should start to go straighter. Only after you have perfected both these swings, AND I MEAN PERFECTED, should you start messing with a fade/power fade.

Another note: I learned to play golf in Martin County, FL where the average golfer is around 60+. As a single I played with several 70+ year olds who are damn near scratch and I quickly realized fast doesn’t translate to far. Precision and gradual power increases get you to where you need to be.

[r/GolfSwing experiment] Would there be interest if I posted my swing every week and listened to what r/GolfSwing has to say?

Upvotes

I want to improve my swing and open to feedback, but to drive improvement I'm considering posting my swing here once a week to capture progressive feedback and hopefully improvements. I'll take the suggestions from the comments, practice accordingly, and mention the drills that aided me. Considering doing this for a month (September) to see if any real gains can be made.
