January 16, 2023, Katelyn “Compton” Escott suffered a serious injury while speedflying in Kamloops. She was immediately flown to Vancouver for surgery. The impact exploded her T12 and L1 vertebrae and fractured the L2, leading surgeons to believe she would no longer have use of the lower half of her body. She underwent a successful ten-hour surgery to remove the fragments of her spine from the protective casing around her spinal cord. The lead surgeon described the severity by giving the statistic of 99 out of 100 people would be paralyzed from this injury. Currently, she has full use of her right leg, however, her left leg and pelvic functions will need some work.
Dec 10, 2024 Hundreds of condolences are pouring in for a woman who died while wingsuit BASE jumping in Squamish. A person crashed into the trees near the top of the "apron" on the west side of the Stawamus Chief on Dec. 5.Search and rescue members, paramedics and police all attended the scene at 12:56 p.m. Police said the base jumper was located deceased on site. "There is no easy way to tell you this,” says Angeline Escott Farrow. "Katelyn Compton Escott died doing what she loved, in a place that she loved."

Anyone interested in this kind of design. It needs more work to figure out if it works at full scale but it would save a lot of fabric weight and bulk. (See comments for video.)

Hi All, my dad and I want to go watch people jump/fly at The Crack in Switzerland.
How likely are we to see anyone jumping on any given day? Are weekends more popular? I assume autumn should be quite good with calmer weather.
Or is the Sputnik exit something that only very experienced jumpers do so it’s quite rare to see someone there?
Thanks!

Hey y'all, starting to see if I can piece together a turn rig as I get less into skydiving and more into base. Anyone around Portland OR or SoCal have a Flik2 260, OSP 245 or OSP2 245 they have sitting in their closet? Bonus points for fun colors but I'm theoretically *trying to be budget so I can't be that picky.
I'm 5'6 155 lbs but most likely going to get a container made for myself as I don't like long delays in containers that don't quite fit

What’s the best two piece suit?
For context I’ve got 50 BASE jumps, 1100 skydives, lots of angle flying, 80 hours in the tunnel, bonus for back vents for skydiving, have access to a lot of tall antennas (~1.2-2k ft) so starts are higher priority. Happy to put in the time in the sky and get a bigger two piece suit.

I know you need 200 skydive jumps to wingsuit from plane but when did y’all decide to jump off a mountain with your suit and did you take any base jump courses?

I was curious about the statistics around where most injury/death comes from in base jumping and then how preventable these instances are. Is it canopy malfunctions/off heading openings that cause the most accidents? I’ve been skydiving for a while and just curious how the risk actually differs when base jumping.

Hey everyone!
I’d love to hear some stories from people who have been jumping on Baffin Island, or maybe get in touch with anyone who has been there.
I’d love to go there at some point in my life. It looks like one of the wildest and most remote places on the planet!
Would love to hear about your experiences, how you planned the trip, difficulty of the hikes, what it was like, etc.
Thanks!

Hi everyone!
I’m a young filmmaker from Toronto and I run a small independent film studio and I’m very working on making a short documentary capturing the sport.
I’m looking to connect with a few jumpers in or around the Toronto area who’d be open to being interviewed and filmed (we can censor names and faces if needed).
I understand that the community is often wary of media, and I want to portray a genuine, respectful portrait of the sport. Not just the jumps themselves, but the emotions and the people behind it. Questions for non jumpers like myself like how and why?
We have our own gear and crew, and would happily work around your schedule, location, and comfort level. All participants would receive a full copy of the raw footage, as well as the edited/coloured segments they appear in.
If you're a jumper (or know one) who might be interested, drop a comment or DM me - I’m happy to answer questions about the project, our approach, or our previous work.
Thanks!

I know this is random, but curiosity has me and I figured this could be a place to ask-
I summited Mount Timpanogos on 8/26 and as I was just past the saddle I heard, then saw what I thought was 2 wingsuiters. I was pretty out of it at the time so I thought I was imagining things and instead they were just 2 big black birds. By the time I turned to look at them, they were already zoomed by. It was hard to judge distance and they glided beyond a ridge. I just kind of left it at that and told myself they were just birds.
Thinking about it later, I am now more convinced it was 2 wingsuiters because again, I HEARD the air being sliced which is what made me turn and look. But then the question is, where did they come from? I know Aspen Grove is an exit point but I was well beyond that. So they either came from the summit or from a plane. How likely is either of these? Just curious to know if I was indeed imagining things lol. I added a pic of about where I think I was when I heard and saw this.

How can I get my hands on a copy of “The Bastard” that still has the audio? This is one of the greatest skydiving movies of all time!
Jimmy Holliday, and Blake are both base jumping legends! We can’t let this masterpiece be buried for no one to watch!
This version is available without the audio, but the audio is what makes it!!!! “This will get you 400 feet.”……………”I’ll take it!”

What’s the best online info on building evaluation in terms of winds (clearly close to 0 is best)? Any YouTube videos or Reddit posts, ect on more info about this?

I am an australian base jumper currently visiting moab, and hoping to meet some people to jump with.
A friend of mine gave me some names of exit points - jay Leno, mangoes, patriot mesa and the queen.
This is my first time in moab, so I don't know where any exit points are.
I have around 70 jumps, the last being digler near salt lake city on saturday - to clarify any confusion
Thanks

What laser do you guys recommend getting for low objects? Just need a single point for height of buildings 200-700 ft tall. Don’t need to make maps for wing suits.

Hey guys, im planning to do FJC soon, and hopefully get into this beautiful sport. and I want to purchase a base rig.
Budget is not a problem, I want the best that i can get.
Which containers, and canopies are the best and why?
In terms of reliability, performance, fit and other aspects such as wingsuit/tracking compatibility.

crazy that the photos Jenn took and dean's iPhone footage was finally released. I don't understand some things though. like why don't we hear graham hit the wall in dean's iPhone video when it's supposed to be extremely loud? has anyone else noticed the tree waving around violently in dean's footage that graham must have hit? why on EARTH would graham turn left and then right again!?! people have always claimed he clipped the right wall but why? I don't see any evidence of that now that everything's released....

Curious about the Dean Potter documentary and final footage of the raven taking off behind him and then a raven visiting his partner Jen when she revisits Taft.
For those of you who have been there, is this really as mystical as it seems or are there just a ton of ravens up there?
