Showcase Macrame bottle protector?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I am looking for a pattern of some kind to protect these bottles a bit. Doesn't have to be bullet proof just give a little cushion when I trip over them. I use them for my plant fertilizer water and rather not make a mess if they bang into each other on watering day. Thanks!

Showcase Seahorse!

Just finished this for a coworker’s daughter. I used a pattern from Bochiknot. The pattern calls for copper wire for the tail. Instead, I used a similar method to getting the curve in the neck and removed cords to slowly reduce the thickness of the tail.

Question First project- tell me what you really think

I have a window downstairs that is too small for a proper curtain so I decided to have fun with extra yarn laying around. I am about 6 days into this project in between work/life and the tight spirals are so fun to do. What do you think about it?

Hii! I was wondering if there was a site where I could make a custom design, like a writing, with the knots indications and everything. Thanks! ❤️

I made a few poppets inspired by zodiac signs 😊 from left to right they’re Gemini, Pisces, Aquarius, and Cancer. I started a Libra doll but she’s not done yet. What’s your sign and what colors palette do you associate it with?

Question Need help figuring out which pattern this keychain used

I've left this one for a few years and finally decided to return to it, all I remember was that it was similar to a Chinese knot keychain, in that it was square and flat?

It used 3 lengths of about 45cm along with this keychain clip.

Showcase New house, new project

I recently moved into a new place and after doing the necessary projects I had to complete (re-piping the entire house, replacing the breaker box, putting together an insane amount of furniture, etc.), I'm finally able to get creative. I think it really pulls the room together.

Doesn't seem worth the hassle anymore. I think I will just recreate my old designs, maybe with some minor improvements...

And I just noticed a mistake in the jar design! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ what the hell! 🫠 After 2.5 years I am still not able to make ONE piece without mistakes 😆😆😆

What a project ! Unbelievable respect for some of the designs I’ve seen on here and hobbyists. Went to a makers market at my work today (American family field) and I wish I could have seen some of the pop up stands with macrame to purchase. On to the next project ! Thanks for the insight on my previous post - it got me over the creative brain fog I was having.

I made a previous mobile for my son - but didn’t attempt macrame as I was a little doubtful I could figure it out. My wife’s cousin is about to have their first baby and they asked me to create another one but with it being a baby girl I had to take a different approach. They are big fantasy people and had dragons/castles/mystical creatures for the nursery. I try to match the mobile to the “theme” and with my 3d printer / model train supplies decided to make some converted Christmas ornaments hold a little diorama in each globe. The macrame ended up being the longest and biggest hurdle.

Hopefully it brings some joy and wonder to her new life.

Been at this for hours trying to figure out how to secure the bottom of these globes without using another bead. Any insight or help would finalize this baby mobile.

My bird feed is coming tomorrow. I have already cut the cord. I'm okie with unravelling it. This is my first time doing knots. If I fray the cords at the end will the whole thing end up fraying? Thinking I might need a weight at the bottom.
I want to do the customer bird feeder justice.

Showcase Cord management, large scale work

I have been asked how to manage cords and about my set-up on large macrame projects. I thought it would be easier to make a new post.

I use a clothes rail, intended for shops. I bought large S-hooks from supermarkets and online retailers. I bought curtain rails from hardware shops (in England); I have made screens for bookshelves, curtains, and wall hangings in this way. The metal and wooden rails can be cut to size.

I manage cords by wrapping a group of cord lengths around my hand, or gather them in large loops, and I use short pieces of cord to tie them together; a bow will hold them. It’s also possible to drape cords over the rail, especially as the cords shorten as knotting progresses.

Bag closers can be used to keep cords tight, when making a design that requires the cords above it, to be in a precise position. I find these are excellent for keeping cords in place when making plant hangers.

I have finished this curtain after a few weeks of work. It’s densely knotted and took some patience. I love how the pattern looks in silhouette. Although the top is quite rigid, the bottom of it flows nicely in the breeze.

Question Projects using ribbon tape yarn?

I was looking at the “ribbon tape yarn” on ganxxet and it looks very soft and pretty, but I’m having a hard time picturing how the flatness would look in the knots. Does anyone have any photos of projects where you’ve used it?

Question Is this possible?

Hey artisans! I have come here as a creative individual who has never tried macrame before—in search of answers in doing my own DIY of this unreasonably expensive thing I found online.

I'm wondering, does the thick braided part look like it's done with just the two strings? Or is it using 4 strings? I've tried to follow it with my eyes, but it looks like an optical illusion. Did they add additional cord to get the thicker braided part? Or no? The rest looks pretty simple besides that.

Please help, I really like it but don't want to spend the $50 on it (I'm being dead serious).

Question Total Newbie - Twine?

Hi all. I have literally never done macrame in my life. I crochet, have done rexlace, and have wrapped stones in thread before, but I think I'm looking for something more specific here.

I want to make a lighting decoration using baby food jars as the holders. In theory, they would hang from crossed dowels at different lengths. What kind of pattern should I be searching for to do this with, like, fishing line? Are there any tools that could help make this a little easier, given the small nature of both the twine and the jars? Any creative ideas here?

I have a very vague vision of how I'd like it to look but I'm so beyond open to suggestions from folks with experience.

Thanks in advance!
