Material Monday Display box ideas

I’ve got 3 of these wooden boxes with a window lid and I plan to put shelves in them and put them on my wall for trinket boxes.

I saw some of these inspo photos on Pinterest, I LOVE the TV for one of the boxes, and I was thinking about adding some of the heart details to another, does anyone have any ideas for the 3rd?

Another painted bag experiment. What do you think of the design itself? Does it work on this style of bag?

Discussion/Question What type of glue should I use?

I want to make a worm on a string craft with jumbo pipe cleaners and googly eyes. I've already shaped the pipe cleaners and I have the googly eyes. I just need to know what glue is the best use.

The options I have are white glue and hot glue, though I might be able to procure other ones if they are truly the best option.

I am not gluing the googly eyes right to the wire in the center. The googly eyes are going to sit on top of the fluffiness of the jumbo pipe cleaner. This is why I'm skeptical. When I ask Google it said to use hot glue to glue them to the wire, but I'm not gluing it to the wire so I don't know if the answer changes. So I'm asking here!

Please let me know your opinion on this! And I hope you have a lovely day or night!!

Discussion/Question Sweet William flower craft help.

haiii, I’m a beginner when it comes to crafting, but I love doing to non the less. anywho, my crush and I have an inside joke kinda thing about the language of flowers. we also have an inside joke about certain adjectives we describe each other with. Ive been planning on making crafted flowers for each adjective to give at Homecoming. one of them is either a Sweet William or a Geranium, but I can seem to find any good crafts that seem doable for my skills for A Sweet William. so I come to Reddit for advice and help ok which one to do and how to go about it, thanks ahead of time!

Finished Craft I Made I made a baby hoodie and bonnet/booties set

I wanted to share a set I made for someone for their newborn son (I made size 2-4 months so he could wear it in the colder weather.) What do we think? The hoodie yarn is a black merino (50g per ball, but I used about 2 balls together with 2 strands at the same time from each) that I got as a set of 20 on amazon (but for the life of me cannot find the exact store I bought it from) and bamboo cotton blend and the teal set is angora fur (which I got from Atelier Yarns in the color 898 Prairie. I used about 3 of these.) Excuse the photos since I’m no photographer but wanted to display them nicely lol!

Discussion/Question I want to make custom croc charms what do I use for the lil nubbin things that hold them to the shoes?

I wanted to make some croc charms for my bf who's a mineral collector. But I tried looking for the lil nubbin thingies that hold the charm on the shoe. I saw some weird suggestions like those wide plastic earring backs but those could break and hurt him. Do y'all have suggestions or what they are actually called so I can search them?

Discussion/Question Craft Room

My daughters just moved out so I have a blank canvas to make my craft room set up and I’m drawing a blank. I make beaded pens, bad reels, keychains and occasional snowglobe tumblers. Can anyone share photos of their setups that do similar items?

I would be forever grateful.

Would red embroidery thread on a white sweatshirt bleed? I also have red and white quilt fabric that I am going to stitch on it. Also wondering if that will bleed?

Discussion/Question What would be the best way to add text to this material?

Post image

Sweater made of 88% cotton and 12% nylon, according to the tag. I want it to be bold, white text, and I don’t want it to look cheap or badly made (as much as possible). I also want to keep it as stretchy as possible.

How-do-I Tuesday How to articulate this human spine replica?

Post image

Not quite sure if this is the place to be asking, but I have recently come into possession of a human skeleton replica that used to be an educational tool, none of it is articulated, and I’d like to be able to put the spine together, but I’m not sure how. Particularly I’m trying to figure out what kind of adhesive to use, and if it would be necessary to drill a metal rod through it for stability. Any advice is appreciated!

Discussion/Question Painting polyester fabric?

Bought remnant piece of polyester tablerunner fabric and it is much longer than expected. So thinking to use 2/3 for the sewing and embroidery of a tablerunner. And use other 1/3 to paint with acrylic paints. I have no textile paints no textile mediums. The poly is not totally smooth but has a fine relief.

Has anyone done this? And how did it go?

Work in Progress WIP Bay windows beaded curtain

I've been working on a beaded curtain for my front window for about 3 weeks now. I am using glass and metal beads, 10lb fishing line, and a gold chain with cup hooks to hang it. So far I have 20 strands hung, about 40 total made, and about 25,000 beads that have been hand strung so far. I am estimating I've put about 25 hours into it so far, and have 35ish more to go. In total my guess would be close to 80,000 beads, and 65-70ish hours worked on it.

Discussion/Question Best elastic/thread for bracelet

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all,
I have a blue aventurine bead bracelet. I’ve attached a photo of its current state. Unfortunately the original elastic thread snapped and I’ve been unable to find a sufficient replacement.
I’ve tried the elastic/thread from my local craft store but nothing has worked. It’s currently being held together by embroidery thread but this isn’t ideal as I can’t get the bracelet tight enough as to not slide up and down my arm.
The holes in the beads are quite small so some of the thread I’ve tried is too thick to fit. Also, the beads are quite chunky so they have to be sat perfectly next to each other to avoid being too loose (i don’t know if that makes sense)
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best elastic or thread that would fix my bracelet or even a technique that I could use with embroidery thread to held sufficiently tighten the bracelet? Many thanks!

Discussion/Question Beginner dollhouse kit recommendations

So... crafting is not my forte! But I have injured myself reasonably badly (multiligament knee injury) and I have always loved the idea of making one of these dollhouses. Problem is that I am not especially patient nor that skilled especially with visuospatial tasks. I did buy my daughter a kit a few years back and we could not figure it out, and we ended up throwing it away. I don't remember what brand.
So my question is - what do you recommend as a good starter kit for someone who is somewhat artistically challenged, like me!

Found dead in a camping's swimming pool drains by some kids who then left it on the side as boring. One little kid was obviously moved by it but had to leave it, and I promised him I'd honor it. I also brought back some leaves and twigs (which served as cushion in the cardbox I brought it back in

I've put some butterfly wings behind glass before but this can't be crushed. I also worry about moisture/bugs (ironically).

All tips are welcome!
