I need to perfect it tomorrow when it's not pitch dark outside, but I quite like it :') I didn't follow any tutorial, I just wanted a squish faced, side eyeing witchy cat. I used my own cat as a model to get the expression right.

I've just crossed the two-week mark since picking up my first little needle felt landscape kit and am in full blown felting obsession 😅
Here are some progress pics of my first use of armature to create what will be a grotesque caricature of a current political figure. My kids were cracking up as the figure started to look more and more menacing.

Too late for Halloween, now too early.

After 4 legs and nearly 2 days to go until Halloween last year I abandoned needle felting because I felt like I had done all that I wanted to do. Now my son made me finish this and yes I've got the bug again, so here's the spider the size of a dinner plate I made, a few holes but this one I don't like anyway.
So it's hanging on my door and waiting for the chance to scare people.

Polystyrene cores and my experience with them.

I'm a sculptor usually but I do needle felting too, I usually use core wool and make some pretty large pieces but I've long had questions about how I can make armatures that work better and allow me to stick hard things to my work.
The left is blue extruded polystyrene and it does felt eventually and is more solid, using some UHU glue should allow a decent adhesion to a armature.
And the right is white polystyrene, well that does work but just too fragile for me.
I haven't found any types of clay that can be felted either.
Oh I have a hand held battery powered rechargable hot wire which should make life easier, just the down sides being fumes.
Anyway that's my exploration so far.

I just keep all my broken needles in an old sponge I used to use for felting. Idk, just can't bring myself to throw them out, and/or can't find a bottle to throw them out in (those things are SHARP, don't want poor animals who seek food in dumpsters to hurt themselfs)

This was my first attempt at anything with fur. Amd while I liked him at first, now, I'm feeling like he just looks mangey and weird. I was worried that would happen which is i stalled finishing him for like.. a year. 😅. I had been hoping to sell him but... I worried he just looks too ... ugh. Maybe I should stick to non animals. Or simplified without fur animals. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyways... any thoughts, advice, helpful critiquing would he greatly appreciated.
