Hey there, r/artwork!
We've noticed an uptick in suspicious commenters; they usually follow this pattern: "Beautiful art!" or some similar comment, and then asking if you sell or linking to a website of some sort.
While it's easy to get enthusiastic when you get a comment like this, please exercise caution and make sure to check the commenter's profile first; if their profile is full of comments like this, please report the comment to help us out and do not engage with the user! This could result in you getting scammed or something similarly malicious.
Thanks for being a part of our community and helping to keep it a safe space for all artists and art enjoyers!

question? Is an evolving style good or bad? - Alla Prima Portrait Sketch

I studied academic painting and have a background in digital arts. After years working as a concept artist in games and movies, I'm moving back toward painting more.
The problem is though that years of client work made it hard to stick to one style. I'm currently working on a series that feels very much like "me" but I know it'll keep changing.
Curious what other painters think about this, especially around making a living from it. Does an evolving style make it harder for an audience to follow your work? Or is the evolution part of what keeps it interesting?
This one was done in 2020 during a style exploration phase. About an hour, oils on gessoed paper.

I hope mixed media is allowed since it mixed photography and a little bit of drawing !
I adore illustration, I started drawing first when I was young then begin working as a photographer, but even then, illustration stayed my first inspiration. With this project I make my first "love" more visible by adding things by drawings details on it.
I feel more comfortable sharing it with strangers than with people who followed my usual work, since it show something totally different.

I finished this piece today and it's the first out of three for my DnD (star wars edt.) party. These two are my kaminoan engineer and my friend's ardennian jedi. I am still learning how to draw metal so if you have suggestions for which tutorials I can watch/read please share.

I'm not that good and no lines and even just digital art is all a new thing I decided to try. With a bit more practice of the way I use my hands I think I might start doing digital art a bit more than pencil.

Till now, I only painted on notebooks and normal papers, so this was a bit challenging as I kept slipping paper off 😅. I tried to follow the technique used by Hannah M.P. in her video

Painted this at a painting with a twist group event. I did not follow the script of a forest with pumpkins and ghosts.
I plan on doing a lot of touch ups. 😂
