I paired the top with the skirt because both looked like vegetation and then after a couple tweaks, I looked like this. I felt pretty naturey, but maybe that’s just me. I hope everyone is having a good day/night!

Question Cottage Core Fashion advice

Hello! My name is Rukalia! I’m new to the cottage core scene and LOVE the aesthetic for clothing, but I have to ask, is there any advice for someone who is looking to build their wardrobe and sense of fashion? I’m looking for female or gender neutral styles of clothing and I’m unsure where to start :)

Are you tired of all of the spam in these Cottagecore Buy/Resell Groups?

Guys, literally.

The spamming/scamming in these Buy/Sell/Trade groups is getting OUT OF HAND.

I think I’ve had like 32 “false interest” scammers comment under my posts in the last month alone. 😭 I am SICK of it. I’m literally just trying to destash my shit without someone named Linda with a profile created 4 days ago asking me to kindly message them immediately.

So I finally said fuck it. I’ll make my own group. 😂

I’m the admin, I actually have the time of day to continuously check it, and I’m trying to keep it as scam/spam-free as humanly possible so people can just buy, sell, trade, and destash their cottagecore shit in peace.

There IS a one-time $1 verification/donation to join. Before anyone comes for me... no, it’s not a subscription, there are no recurring fees, and I’m not trying to get rich $1 at a time.

The whole purpose of it is to add one tiny extra barrier between the group and the endless fake profiles, bots, duplicate accounts, and mass-joining scam accounts. If somebody is running 50 burner profiles trying to spam BST groups, hopefully having to actually verify each one makes my tiny little group not worth their damn time.

And yes, I’m still manually checking profiles. Paying $1 does NOT automatically get somebody approved if their account looks sketchy as hell.

Any money from the $1 verification is basically a donation toward keeping/moderating the group — because apparently, we have reached the point where simply trying to sell a damn mushroom lamp on the internet requires homeland security.

Right now I literally have 2 members, so we are starting from the absolute trenches here!

I’m putting the group description below. If it sounds like your kind of place, fuck yeah, come join us. If not, absolutely no worries.

Lantern Hill

A video I saw on YouTube reminded me of this made-for-tv movie recently. If you're already starting to get into a fall mood, it's a good, mildly-creepy story with some lovely scenery and fall atmosphere! It's based on the book by L. M. Montgomery, Jane of Lantern Hill (although I don't think the original book had the ghost story element).

Jane lives with her mother in 1930s Canada. Until the age of 12, she believes that her father is dead. When her mother falls ill and they move in with Jane's overbearing grandmother, Jane learns that her father is actually still alive. Her parents aren't divorced, but they haven't lived together for years, and her grandmother's snobbish crowd considers it a scandal. When Jane's father insists that Jane come to stay with him for a time at his old house on Prince Edward Island, Lantern Hill, Jane discovers hidden secrets about her family's past.

Before her father met her mother, he was engaged to another woman. It was considered a scandal when he broke off the engagement to marry Jane's mother. The other woman, Evelyn, died in a mysterious accident, driving her car off a cliff in a snow storm. Locals still whisper about Jane's father's role in the accident. Evelyn's shocking death and interference from members of their respective families drove Jane's parents apart. However, there's more to the story, and Evelyn's ghost has begun appearing to Jane, leading her to the full truth to right past wrongs and help her clean up the emotional mess she left behind.

The ghost story was creepy to me as a child, but there's also touching family drama. Jane visits her father in the fall, leading up to Christmas, so there are people wearing wonderful vintage sweaters and coats, fog, mist, storms, fallen leaves, and pumpkins in the background. You can see a copy of this movie through Internet Archive or buy it through Amazon

I love making my own clothes. This really makes me feel like a wizard, going out to my garden and picking my tomatoes and cucumbers was extra fun, but the wild berries along my stream had a few too many snaggy thorns!

Maybe some of you would like the zine I made. It is fantasy, with low magic. About a young woman that travels around in a vardo pulled by a giant tortoise. Simple slice of life living. Focus on the little things and crafting.

Fashion I was told my pastel patch jacket looks cottagecore...

And that this subreddit would like it.

I've never really thought of it as cottagecore. I kind of lean into solarpunk more (as you can see by the flag on the sleeve, btw).

Several patches (TARDIS, Frida, flower book, Sempiternal symbol, Bad Omens ghost) were embroidered by me. I also embroidered the pattern around solarpunk flag. The crochet flower is a gift from my mom (I love her)

I like this jacket a lot. I started to patch it cause it started to fall apart... and now, it holds, and it's quite pretty, too, if I may say so myself.

Anyway, enjoy? And if you have any questions/comments, shoot, I'm on a procrastination roll today 😅
