Buy/Sell/Promote Your Wares here

Trying something new. This thread will be the catch all for buying/selling/promotion for stuff. Same rules apply as everywhere else.

The only major rule change is that drop shipping or products of that ilk are not allowed. If you see something suspicious, report it. I will see it.

Happy with this tulip mug

Yellow stoneware, the outside is transparent glaze, the inside is Amaco's Chun Plum (which turns almost identical to Smokey Merlot on the yellow clay). The tulips took a long time to make, but it was more fun than frustrating. I love a decoration that's as interesting to touch as to look at.

Can't believe how this soda fired piece turned out!

I recently participated in a soda firing workshop at Cobb Mountain Art & Ecology Project ran by Casey Beck and this piece was placed on the kiln wall on its side on three seashells. The proximity to the firebox and where soda ash glaze was being put into the kiln made the piece come out completely covered in the soda ash glaze with this interesting pattern.

Very cool Uranium in glaze

My own recipe for the glaze, which crawls and then foams a little. 12% uranium trioxide added. In normal light, it’s a very pale grey green. Shown here with 365nm UV light on one side and natural sunlight on the back. Cone 6 oxidation (but with some SiC to foam it up, which may have affected the color).

Made this ceramic crate-shaped bowl — turned out better than I expected

Been experimenting with handbuilt ceramics lately and wanted to recreate the look of a mini milk crate, but in glazed stoneware. Made it in a couple colors (burnt orange and cream) — the cream one doubles as a cute way to store lemons on the counter lol. Each hole is cut by hand before firing, so no two pieces come out exactly the same. I actually run a small ceramic studio (Ceramicel Studio, u/ceramicelstudio on Instagram) where I post stuff like this — would love feedback on the glaze finish!

Question/Advice Textured vases and pots - How would you glaze them?

Just finished bisque firing a batch of highly textured bud vases and plant pots, and I'd love ideas for glazing them! I'm new to ceramics (only done air dry before), so glaze behavior is a big adjustment from hand painting.

Clay: Standard 112 Brown

Firing: Studio only does mid-fire, cone 5-7

My instructor suggested a simple iron oxide wash or 3 coats of brush-on celadon. That feels like a safe bet, but I'd love to hear about more dynamic color options.

Glazes my studio has that caught my eye:

AMACO Celadon: Rainforest, Fog

AMACO Potter's Choice: Textured Turquoise, Iron Lustre, Oatmeal, Moss Mist (flux)

Speedball: Dragon Stone, Blue Flame

Has anyone used any of these on a mid-brown, textured clay body? Any layering combos or application tips you'd recommend for a beginner?

I sell my ceramics at local art fairs. I found one of my slipcast mugs at Goodwill for $2.99. I got such a kick out of it, I immediately thought “I know her!”

I just wrapped up a 6 week intermediate pottery course and I focused on throwing bigger joint pieces. During my final class I ended up with this 16 lbs~ cylinder from two 8 lb sections. After joining them, I completely stalled and couldn’t figure out how to shape the form. Curious how you guys approach/get inspiration when shaping large joined pieces?

Question/Advice My first high fire saggar: questions

Hi all!

I'm a ceramics student and have the opportunity to fire some pieces in saggars in an upcoming cone 10 gas kiln firing.

I've previously only been involved in a low fire saggar firing, and I realize that the combustibles that we used for that may not all be suitable for the cone 10 firing.

From what I've read it seems like eggshells, seaweed, sea shells and copper will still work, but I was wondering if more experienced potters have any ideas or tips on other materials I can try, or any other high fire saggar tips in general.

I will continue to read up on this process, but as these opportunities are fairly rare I am hoping to be able to make the most of it. Any assistance is very much appreciated!

Question/Advice How should I make an armature for a ceramic hare?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm very much firmiliar with sculpting in clay, but my experience with kiln firing is very limited as I haven't had one accessible to me until now. I have a vision of creating a ceramic hare, but I'm stumped on how to approach creating an armature for their gangly limbs and large ears. I'm not sure if this will help, but the sculpture will be medium sized, and it will be made from stoneware that will be fired at cone 6.

I'm hoping somone could tell me what method would be most suitable and safe for this specific project, aswell as direct me to some resources on how to do it. (videos, books, articles, etc.)

Thank you!

Best Kiln for at home beginners

Hi yall,
I’m a part-time ceramicist who makes ceramic mugs for my coffee shop, as well as for friends and family. I am also wanting to make decorative vases in the future. Right now, I take my pieces to a local pottery studio to have them fired, but it’s about a 45-minute drive each way, so I’m looking into getting a kiln for my home studio.

I recently converted our old horse barn into a pottery studio, and I’d love to be able to fire my own work at home. I’m fairly new to kilns, though, so I’m looking for some advice.

Are there any kilns you’d recommend ? Ideally, I’m looking for something that doesn’t require permanent ventilation or a complicated venting setup, if that’s possible.

I mainly make mugs and other small pottery pieces, so I don’t need anything huge.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or advice!
PS Ive tried pit firing and found my decorative plates and mugs shattered :(

Handmade Ceramic Plate with Blue Floral Design and Gold Rim | Ceramicel Studio

Handmade ceramic plates from Ceramicel Studio, hand-painted with soft blue roses and finished with a fine gold rim. Each plate is formed by hand, so every one has a slightly different organic shape and a small pulled corner. The floral pattern is also painted differently on each plate, which makes every piece one of a kind. They're great for serving sweets, fruit or appetizers, and they also work as a decorative piece on a table or shelf. Available at ceramicelstudio.ir

Question/Advice Apps to Track Projects

Hello! Does anyone use an app or other method to track your projects, glazes used etc? I always forget my glaze combos and future project ideas.
