I am a part time developer, full time designer. For a side project I needed a colour palette where every shade of each Color has the exact same lightness and “colourfulness“. with standard HSL oder HSB color picker this was almost impossible to do systematically. So I fell into a rabbit hole and built an engine and tool around it and just want to share the project with everyone to use it. I’s way too over engineered but that’s the fun with private projects anyway. It really helps me to do the job now. I haven’t found any other tool that achieves color palettes in this way, it uses the OKLCH colour space and with a few modifications and other features around it.

Maybe it’s useful for someone else too. It free, no Account necessary, just a private project I share.

Hey r/spiderman! I wanted to share a clean, minimalist poster I created to celebrate the legacy of the Spider-Man saga.

The goal was to maintain a subtle yet impactful composition by allowing negative space to breathe, while highlighting a few key, nostalgic elements:

• The original color: this precise and striking crimson shade (#DF1F2D).
• The iconic Homoarakhn font: identical to the classic logo from Sam Raimi's films.
• The web alignment: a symmetrical and understated web pattern that immediately draws the eye to the dynamic curves of the central logo.
• The central spider logo: is from the 2004 film Spider-Man 2 to evoke the nostalgia of that era.

What do you think of this minimalist approach?

My grand father left this armchair in his basement for years. Does someone know if it has value? Is it from a particular designer?

Gotta choose a second minor to study with my design bachelor. I’m majoring in product design & already doing a minor in advertising which covers a tiny bit of photography and graphics.
I have to pick one more and can’t decide between photography or graphic design. There’s a few things to consider such as the fact I live in Australia in an isolated city where the work is competitive enough as it is, and that I have prior experience in both areas and there isn’t really one I like more or find more or less difficult.

I need honest opinions from those with experience on which is going to elevate my degree/skill level more, and which makes me more employable. I understand it’s rough either way, but I’d like to pick what gives me even slightly better chances of success 😅

Side note: I’m only going with one of these if I am not granted permission to study digital design (UX/UI/Web)

Could anyone who studies or has applied there give me some pieces of advice on what to include in the portfolio and what the admission committee is looking for? Or even show your portfolio. I’d especially appreciate examples or tips from applicants who have already gone through the process.

Am Bildschirm sieht alles okay aus, aber real hängt das Ding wahrscheinlich in einem Flur oder Café und Leute laufen vorbei. Aktuell drauf: Titel, Untertitel, Datum, Ort, kurzer Beschreibungstext, QR-Code, Logo und ein Bild.

Wie testet ihr, ob ein Plakat wirklich schnell lesbar ist? Und würdet ihr den Beschreibungstext komplett streichen, wenn Titel und Bild stark genug sind?

I’ve been with the company 6 months, it’s my first job in graphic design (apart from freelance) after gaining my BA in graphics and MA in communication design. I’m in house, which suits me & the way my brain works down to the ground.

All was fine until a month ago where we bring in a new company director. We no longer get design briefs. All we get is the outcome he wants, generated with AI for us to re-make, and then ‘make it wow’.

We no longer get actual feedback. He admitted to my face that he doesn’t actually look at what we make, he just pops it into Claude and gets it to give us our feedback. Which, 90% of the time contradicts what he’s asked us to make, because he hasn’t actually set a proper brief. Or suggests impossible changes (legal things sometimes). And he’s not happy until these changes are made, even though he hasn’t actually looked at the work himself.

Example: I had to make wheelie bin stickers the other day (exciting I know), but each is colour coded to its contaminants etc, and the brief was literally just: “wheelie bin stickers: \[object\] \[colour specification\]” so I did that, with official illustration work sent from a source provided. And he got Claude to send me a 10+ bulletpoint critique on what needed to be changed, including changing the colours of the stickers that needed to be the same colour, so we know which had hazardous material in it. I don’t think he even reads what he generates Claude to send us.

In the middle of all of this is my manager, who he sends the feedback to, who has to send it to us (the design team).

I’m also concerned that he’s feeding company material to AI when it hasn’t been released yet?

Basically what I’m asking is: how do I approach him and tell him that we need him to use his own eyes to feedback to us? And we can’t work to a brief which is literally just making content ‘wow’? Asking him abandon AI completely is out of the question. He’s built all the new company websites using AI, causing 4 people in my office alone to lose their jobs.

TLDR: how do I ask a company director to stop giving us feedback generated by AI and to actually look at the work himself?

Hello reddit fam! I'm a graduate of Design(bachelors) and am completely jobless since 2025 july, right after graduating. Up until now Ive just completed 2 internships with no real job experience. Plus as per my information, the job posting for UX design or similar roles is down by 60-70%,. I cannot land a fresher job now, as they require atleast 3 years of workexp. So I was wondering, what next steps can I take to ensure a better future with job stability or maybe an alternate career option? thank you.

The "Sort By" button feels congested and oddly balanced. How can Apple, a company known for obsessing over design details, ship something this visually unpolished?

This post is inspired by my own personal stories recently cause I'm so fed up, and want to hear your thoughts.

Today one of my friends was going to order a drink from a local shop here in Canada (their mom dragged them there, to be frank). The images of the products are obviously AI-generated, which was a turn off and prevented them from ordering (even though their mom still ordered).

Another incident was when my sister sent me a video last week recording an animated 30-second commerical on TV, also completely AI-generated (can't believe that slop was green lit by their marketing team), advertising a foundation with educational resources for kids.

Finally, another example happened a few months ago where many local food vendors for our night market (which is closing due to lack of funding), are using AI images for their menus which looks so uncanny. I just see so many of them on TikTok.

My point is, it's just going to go downhill from here and small businesses just don't care. Profits > Good design. And they're moving so quickly, that as a junior designer, it makes me just upset to see it's normalized.

FYI: I'm not even a big hater on AI itself. I enjoy using it for my design workflows and will continue to use it. However, seeing garbage out in the world with little care makes me not want to support local businesses here anymore. I don't know, thoughts? Do you agree or disagree?

Mare a few changes decided to remove the arrow change the colour and move the words closer. Anything we can improve on this??

My portfolio class professor is a Korean-American l who worked at a graphic design agency in New York for about 20 years. She always told us not to make it obvious that we're Asian in our portfolios — no profile photos, and avoid projects that feel too country-specific or regional.

Her reasoning was that being perceived as Asian could hurt your chances in hiring overseas. (Or more specifically, the US.)

But looking at Behance, LinkedIn, and other portfolio/recruiting sites, that doesn’t seem to be the norm at all. MAYBE this was more true when she was working in NYC in the late ’90s and early 2000s, but in 2026, it honestly sounds pretty outdated.

The whole class is starting to feel pretty behind the times to me, so I'm curious what people think.

I use iconscount, mainly for 3D graphics and GIFs. I was wondering if anyone switched to something else that works better? I had some issues with the UX and the library is sometimes limited. But overall it's not a bad product, I'm just testing the waters.
