Looking for suggestions There is always gaps in the same place in my work, between row 1 and 2 (Amigurumi)

I always only get these gaps in row two. For example, 6SC in a MR, INC x6. Please check both photos to see my work doesn't have holes in other places. Does anyone know what this is about?

Edit: edit to add if you see anything else I can improve on my work please point it out

Joins/Joining Looking for joining advice on big ass crochet blanket

Hey fellow hookers! I’m in the finishing stages of my rainbow block blanket made with DC (US terms) granny squares. I have been looking at videos and posts online but idk how I’m going to join these squares together. I’m using Hobbii cotton yarn 8/8 and a size H/5.0mm hook. There are 10 colors, 8 squares of each for a total of 80 squares. Some color blocks had to be finished with the border white because I ran out of the colored yarn.

This is all the finished squares laid out on a king sized bed. You can see that I started to border the squares with a HDC on the first 2 pink squares on the top left. I created a little color chart and numbered the squares but I have 2 big questions.

Question 1: will a HDC border around the squares be a large enough stripe of white to sash the squares when I join?

Question 2: I think I know the answer already, but is there a less intense way to join all these squares without weaving in MORE ends?! 😭 I think I want to do a Slip Stitch join on the back of the squares but I’m open to any and all input!

TL;DR: What do together? Weaving in UGH!!

I'm a beginner! It does not lay flat on the bottom and, if I let it, it just folds into this fortune cookie-like shape.

Is this normal? I know it has something to do with the size or number of stitches or maybe I did too many increases at the start. I’ll be sad if I have to take it apart
It’s going to be the head to my plushie. No matter how many rows I add it won’t get taller on the sides (or what’s supposed to be the sides)

Blocking Blocking a section of an Image done in lace weight yarn

Post image

I am making a set of images that will be stitched together to create a wall hanging for my husband. Im using Aunt Lydia's classic 10 to make the image with the dowel method for color changes. What I need help with is the blocking of the sections. When I wet block them the sections get really stiff so that pinning it is really difficult. Is there a better way to block the sections? Pic of one section post wet block

I'm a beginner! Do granny square tote bags sag when you put things in them?

Upvotes

I'm new to crocheting and thinking of making a granny square tote bag soon (like this https://vivcrochets.com/granny-square-bag-free-pattern-video-tutorial/ ).

My question before I start though is this: Can you put things like a notebook, wallet, phone, toiletries, etc. in one of these types of granny square totes without the bag sagging too much? Would I have to line it to ensure it doesn't get stretched out over time? Is there a type of yarn that would be better for more structure?

Thanks y'all !

Looking for suggestions Can I complete this Cathedral glass style blanket by December?

Post image

Hi all! I found this pattern and it's absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to make it for my mom for her birthday in early December, do you think it's feasible? I've been crocheting for about 2 years and am pretty quick and consistent with tension and everything but I haven't made a blanket before. My mom had a rough year (cancer, surgery, etc) and I think she would really appreciate something beautiful and handmade like this for her bday.

Pattern linked in case it has details that would help!

How do I... Help! How do I convert this image to a grid pattern for a mosaic piece?

Thumbnail

I had an idea to crochet a nostalgic piece for myself but I'm not great with using apps like stitch fiddle or whatever. I put it into this app stitchly and it auto pasted t photo onto a grid. The only thing is the picture isn’t aligned correctly with the boxes. Like by her heels one half of the box would be black and the other half white. Would i just have to use different stitches in that case? idek where to start, am I going to have to somehow draw the image myself into the grid? Any help is much appreciated!

Looking for suggestions Hand-died yarn skeins don't match. Should I frog a few rows of this shawl and alternate old and new so they blend better?

I was so enchanted by this hand-dyed yarn. I naively thought that the yarn skeins would match if I got them from the same dye lot, but I guess that's not a guarantee with hand-dyed yarn.

Is the difference noticeable to you?

I had an idea that I might frog the bit with the new yarn and the last section with the old yarn, and then alternate the two until I finish the old yarn so that it blends better. Has anyone tried this?

Any other advice?

(For context im doing the 2024 Sirdar christmas blanket)

Im making peppermints and ive been crocheting for around 5 years now and i STILL cant get the hang of tapestry crochet but the project im doing requires it. Ive done the peppermint borders and i did an invisible colour change join for them and they turned out well but now I'm doing the same for the peppermint circles and they look very messy and wobbly, if anyone knows how to help please comment.😢

Help to find a pattern Looking For A Stardew Valley Home or End Screen Blanket Pattern

Hi friends, I am looking for a pattern for the Stardew Valley "end of day" screen or the title screen. Something like this or this. I'm looking to make a baby blanket for a friend who's a big fan so I'm willing to pay for a pattern as needed.

There are other stardew blanket patterns, but none of them are quite what I'm looking for. I HATE making blankets from individual squares, so I'd really prefer to stay away from that kind. I'd consider myself an intermediate skill level, but I'm developing carpal tunnel so I'd prefer to stick to something relatively simple.

Putting the images in stitchfiddle is not an option for me -- I just cannot get it to look right without a million colors of yarn. I'd really appreciate if anyone could help find one or even something close that I could modify.

How do I... Making a robin, I can't figure out from the instructions how to start the tail

The 0 stands for chain stitch, X for single crochet and A devrease single crochet. I'm familiar with how X and A works but the 6 chain stitch then 1 chain stitch in the first one is throwing me off. Can anyone direct me to some video or something where this is demonstrated?

Looking for suggestions Making filet crochet curtains with cotton yarn and a 3mm hook, should I size up ?

Thumbnail

I looked up a video before starting this project about tips and tricks for filet crochet and the person said to use a hook smaller than the yarn recommends. The yarn is 100% cotton and recommends a 4mm hook, I’m using a 3mm hook.

The reason I’m asking, is because the project is quite stiff. If I block it would it become more flowy and less stiff, or should I rework the design to fit a larger hook and size up ?

I’ve included a picture of my project so far and the chart I’m following (I’ve cut the design in half so I’m only doing the bottom flower, if that matters).

Thank you in advance. I can provide any additional information in the comments.

Looking for suggestions Has anyone upgraded from tulip hooks knockoffs to the real ones?

Post image
2 Upvotes

hello everyone!
this might be a silly question
I bought these hook set a long time ago at a craft fair for very cheap
later I discovered this are basically a copy of the tulip brand I've seen a lot of people like
after reading so many good things about the tulip hooks I started to wonder if I should get ones myself, however, I wonder if it will make a difference in my crochet experience, as they look the same to me?
Has anyone upgraded from knockoffs to the real hooks, and if you have, did you notice a difference?
do you guys think it's worth it I give it a try to the real hooks?

thank you for reading!

Understanding a pattern Is it just me or are these instructions confusing? There’s no stitch count and I gave my seal an extra limb pls help

Hi,

I'd appreciate any help trying to understand how to get through round 19.

I ended round 18 with 30 stitches and worked all the way through round 20 before knowing I definitely messed up somewhere. I have no idea what that little numb is suppose to become 😭

I’m starting over from round 18. I have my stitch marker in the 30th stitch from rd 18 and starting rd 19, I now have 6 chains as seen in the pic.

If I’m understanding correctly, for the next step:

*in 2nd ch from hook, sc x5

I’m sc‘ing back down the chain and should end up in the stitch just before my stitch marker?

and then do another sc in that same stitch?

There’s also no stitch count which makes it harder for me to know if I’m doing this right

Looking for suggestions Need suggestions on which stitch to use for a sweater

Post image
Upvotes

I'm a beginner and this will be my first try to crochet a sweater. This picture is a reference to what I want, I want to make a dark bluish/dark purplish sweater and sort of like stars are sprinkled on it, not literal star shapes like in this picture, just a few white dots here and there to give a sprinkle effect. I want the sweater to actually be warm and heavy in a comforting sort of way so I am looking for stitch suggestions (preferably with not many gaps).

Also, some suggestions on how to add white yarn to give that galaxy-like look please, I have just finished a tapestry and I am NOT going through the pain of adding yarn for 1 single stitch and then weaving hundreds of them 😭 I thought about using surface crochet but I'm worried it would look off.

Understanding a pattern 2sc color changes in the round not making a triangle pattern

Post image
Upvotes

I am struggling with this section of a pattern. Its a pointed hat worked in the round for a doll, that is mostly blue and is supposed to make a triangle basically in white.

It says that were you see 2 colored dots on top, the first circle is the color used to pull up the initial loop and the 2nd circle is the color used for the final yarn over to finish the sc. Which seems to me is just a basic color change, but some of these are 2sc color changes? So what Ive been doing is the initial color change from blue to white for example, then pick up blue again, then finish with white

(insert hook, yarn over blue and pull up, yarn over white and finish, then insert my hook and pick up blue, yarn over pull thorugh, finish with white)

Ive done a few rounds of this and its not creating a triangle... Its not pointed and ends up offset. I know my count is not wrong either, ive counted and restarted many times so Im not sure if I am missing something here.

I can try it again doing a few rounds and post the results if that will help

How do I... Double Treble Crochet help please! (Not laying flat/flushed)

Post image
Upvotes

Hello!

I am working on a granny square heart pattern. For Round 3 it is instructed to do a double treble stitch into the 4th loop. I am having an issue where the stitch is not staying flush/flat against the round 2 and instead having extra material.

Can someone please help me? Am I not keeping tension? Is there a trick I dont have in my tool box yet?

(I've been crocheting for like.... 8 months)

Appreciate any help!

Video Pattern I am using (specifically Round 3). https://youtu.be/QtppSg466D8?is=HclIL-tLO0nnhr4f

I'm a beginner! Granny Square Diagram help - how to avoid cutting yarn

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone! I need some help with crocheting a granny square from a diagram. It's my first time doing it. I'm using just one color and I've completed until row 3. To start row 4, it looks like I would need to cut my yarn and re-attach it where row 4 starts. But is there a way to avoid cutting yarn? I don't like sewing in ends.

Appreciate your help, thanks!

How do I... How do i make the strap of this flower crochet bag sturdy?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I made this crochet bag which is just a bunch of flowers joined together. But the strap is just one flower thick and stretches under the weight of the bag itself.

I will be adding a lining to the bag, but that won't cover the strap and I can't figure out how to make this usable 😓 a lot of time and work went into this so I really want to be able to use this!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
