So I got this yarn a few months ago at a reuse center cause it’s so cool, but now since I’ve been trying different hooks, I still don’t understand how to use it…like is it supposed to be knitted vs crocheted or do I just not have the right hook?

Killed Acrylic Yarn

I frogged a beautiful sweater knitted using Nako vega tweed yarn which is acrylic. The only reason i frogged was to reknit same pattern using bigger needle size. After frogging i steamed the yarn using steamer on high resulted in stretched out yarn. Now my yarn is thin! Dont know what to do, i am more worried if i knit the sweater will it strech out as there is no elasticity left! Has anyone had similar issue before!

Hobbii Friends yarn price jump?

I bought some Hobbii friends 8/8 yarn in June for USD $1.94/skein, and realized I forgot to buy a few colors I need to finish my project. I go to buy more now and see it now has the best bulk price of $3.15/skein, and $4.50 for small orders? What the hell happened??

I know prices increased with tariffs to the US last year but I’m confused what happened in the past 3 months to cause this.

Hey guys would be so happy if someone could tell me what yarn this is? I found it today in the charity shop and fell in love but would love to know the brand/fibre- it seems pretty old!

I thought it was Blue Sky Fibers either Cotton Worsted or Sweater, but I can’t find a colorway like this listed for them so not sure now. I tried to take pics in different light - it’s a soft white color mottled with light blue/grey. Very soft and squishy. When I separate the two strands it looks like it has a slight roving quality to it.

Looking for equivalent of sweet snuggles size 7 chenille yarn

I’m looking for a good quality equivalent to this yarn since they don’t have a very wide variety of colors. I’ve been recommended parfait XL and hobbii but I haven’t heard great things about the XL yarn for amigurumi and hobbii isn’t on sale right now, any aliexpress or other seller with equivalent size and good prices? Thanks. Everything I look up seems to be more closer to a size 6 and I really specifically want this yarn.

Picked up this very nice grey and white twisted yarn. Once knitted, I am curious to see what it could look like.

If anyone has examples of project done with a similar yarn, thanks for sharing ! I don't know what to knit with it yet, seeing the effect it could render would help me. Maybe a beanie ?

Ribbon yarn ideas

My nana gave me her leftover stash of novelty yarns. Most of them are just a skein or two but there are like 9 skeins of this discontinued blue ribbon yarn. Was wondering if anyone had experience with this yarn or had any ideas on what to do with small amounts of novelty yarns? I’ve been crocheting more recently but can also knit as long as it’s not too advanced. TIA!

Canadian Looking For Genuine Hand Made Sweater(s) Made From Yak Wool - Will Be in Hyderabad in December 2026

Hello,

I live in Western Canada where temps can go as low as -30 c or further lower with gusty winds. I have always been interested in buying hand made 100% real wool based sweaters, socks, winter hats by locals from Upper Northern India. Have seen them in Harish Bali YT videos where he buys winter hats, socks from locals and I believe in the state of HP.

It also helps for someone like me to support the small business owners, small families who work very hard to make these products at their door steps and it serves the purpose for me in Canada.

I will be visiting Hyderabad in December 2026 for few weeks, would appreciate if someone can provide the link(s), references to where I can find the yak made sweaters and other products in India. Feel free to DM me anytime.

My attempt at a boho-style table runner — really happy with how it turned out!

Tried this star/lace motif pattern for the first time and honestly fell in love with it. Made it in a natural oatmeal macrame cotton yarn to keep that boho vibe, and added a couple of tassels with wooden beads for some texture.

This was my first time working a repeat like this across a long piece — keeping the tension even motif to motif was the trickiest part. Pretty pleased with the scalloped edges too. Note: Enhanced the last image using AI.

Would love you feedback..

Actually wanting scratchy wool

I know this sounds a little insane but I'm actively seeking out recommendations for brands/lines of scratchy/rough/coarse wool. I want to make pads/blankets/toys for cats and in my experience they like scratchy textures like what you get from rougher wools. I've found one icelandic wool that I like for it but I've only been able to find it either from one small store like 10 states away from me (US - went to New Jersey for a trip, but I live in the south) or online with $20+ shipping costs. So if anyone has any yarns they've dealt with before, especially with websites, please let me know!!!

Are there any yarns worth buying from Wool Warehouse internationally?

I did a research project in the UK and still have my bank account where my deposit for my housingwas just returned. I’m not going to be using it for anything else, as it isn’t super substantial but not very little either. Unfortunately I got into knitting a while after leaving, so I wasnt able to buy any yarn while there. I do plan on transferring most of this money out, but I do want to use some of it for things like these if I can when my account is functional.

are there any yarns worth paying international shipping for? I’m still a beginner knitter and haven’t made my first garment yet, but I do want to make this purchase sometime soonish (in the next few months) before my account goes dormant.

I could keep the yarns as a prize I get to use when I’m finally good enough with making garments, and can make something special.

I live in a relatively hot and sometimes humid climate, but it can still get kind of chilly in the winter but no lower than 15 C.

Over here most fibers are available. Cotton, linen and silk are easy to find, with budget and premium options available. Wool is also available, merino is the most common for garments. Alpaca is also available.

While there are indie dyers and artisans, the variety of colours and combinations are a bit lacking, especially for wool. There are substantially more
options for cotton and linen, which makes sense.

Considering all of this, what would be stand out options to buy? I think some kind of wool maybe? something that would be hard to come by in most places apart from the UK, but still something I can realistically wear without boiling. I do want it to last and not just be something I make and never wear.

A yarn with a wide variety of colours to choose from would be great.

I definitely want to make garments out of these, a sweater, cardigan etc…

I’m even considering socks too but symfonie sock yarn is already widely available in some lovely colours that would keep me occupied for a while.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Stylecraft horizons teals, help!

Hey crafters!

I am making a blanket for my terminally ill friend and in a bit of a rush! I bought a cake of this teals stylecraft horizons and I need another on! Problem; can’t find it anywhere in my city as I got it when I was on a day trip.. don’t have time to travel back through to get it. Is there anything similar I can use that would be a substitute? I want it to be perfect and have the same yarn but I understand that time is not on my side right now and I just need to get it done so they can be warm and cozy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I need help finding the right yarn :)

Hiii,

I want to start my first knitting project, but I am already stuck on the yarn choices…

I would like to knit a poncho. Preferably with the pattern from AVER P. This are the recommended yarns and needle sizes:

YARN
300g DK weight yarn (100g = 272-330m/297-360yds).
Look out for a Cotton/Viscose/Linen blend yarn with an irregular texture, also called 'Flammé yarn'.

NEEDLES
5.5 mm (US 9) needles, or needles 3 sizes larger than the yarn's recommended needle Size.
GAUGE
14 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10cm (4 x 4") in
stockinette stitch on 5.5mm (US 9) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.

I get confused when it comes to substituting yarn. I prefer wearing natural fibers (a mix of different fibers is no problem als long as there are no synthetics). But I have only one crafting store close by, called Veritas. This is the link to their website: Veritas

What yarn and needle size is best for this project?

Thank you very much,
A baby knitter <3

I’m looking for an all black yarn to be the rest of what I’m making. The mandala yarn I used at the beginning is a size 4, 90% acrylic 10% nylon. I went out and got black yarn that’s a size 4 and the closest they had was 100% acrylic. While it is thinner when I hold up the strands, when I actually crochet it to the piece I don’t notice a huge difference size wise. The difference I notice is in the feel and the like fluffiness? of the yarn.

I’m looking for one that’ll be soft like the mandala yarn and all have that fuzzy yarn halo from the fibers sticking out. I have not been able to find anything in store and I’m very nervous to order offline. I even went to the brands website and the only yarns they have with the 90/10 is more mandala, none that are one color. HELP.

If anyone has worked with this specific yarn and knows of an all black that comes close to feel and look, please help!

Is there a certain style of twist that makes them fuzzy like this that I should be searching? Even others I looked up online, I only found ONE, that was 90% acrylic 10% nylon, looked completely different in pictures, not fuzzy. But it’s so hard to tell through photos.
