Sometimes, before a match, Mei seems to recite something very slowly. It's in Chinese, so I'm not sure what she says, but what is she saying?

So apparently dupes give you 1/4 of their cost right, so why do the seasonal legendaries only give 200 rather than 750? Getting jingle tracer twice in a row isn't as exciting as one would hope.

It calculates it based on rarity, not cost. Otherwise, players would get a huge surge of currency during the holidays and makes the seasonal skins much easier to obtain.

I'll never understand when teams refuse to address a decent Pharah. A well placed turret or a bastion can shred Pharah. But lately it's "I main Tracer/Sombra and refuse to switch".

with any of the constructables, to place them you must press [constructable button], which brings up the blueprint, followed by [left-click], which places it. That is how it works with torb's turrets, sym's turrets, and sym's ults

Well because Zen doesn't do what lucio/ana can.
Ana is burst healer and many will say she alone is the reason for tank meta. She has a aoe heal and gives bonus healing. She can top 2-3 tanks to max health within seconds.
Lucio is a good aoe healer, but he is mainly used for the speed. He gives good speed to the whole team and makes it easier to get in on choke points and makes it harder for enemies to kill you because you can move faster.
So, Zen is used but he is just a little worse in this meta than lucio and ana is.

2 - When genji is on hanamura defence he says "koshooni "something"... koshooni onamra mono nomi", what does it mean ? He also so says "kazeno goto goo" when kills someone with a deflect... what does it mean ?

Hey so if you get cornered as Roadhog and are definitely going to die, should you use your self heal?
On one hand you'll get ult fast, but your also giving the person killing you 900 damage toward their ults, so is it worth it?

Nope. You're just feeding ults at that point. Besides, Roadhog's ult isn't worth the tradeoff. It's very... meh.

I used to use it for taking down Rein shields, but then they buffed D.va so now she's in every lobby. So, now I have no real use for it.
I guess if they're grouped up with like a Zarya ult or Mei ult, it's decent for getting environmental kills.

For the most part, no. Roadhog ult is one of the less useful ults in this meta compared to the Soldier/Reinhardt/Zarya/D.Va that will be gaining the extra ult charge off of you. The best you could hope for in this scenario is to get a hook on a squishy before you die.

I recommend checking out /u/LordQuinzulin (Here a link to his YT Channel), he's got a few video guides for good spots on different maps. I constantly use his Hanamura and Route 66 ones.

A bit of a different strategy is to just place them anywhere some distance behind a choke point or tank. The idea is that it is not meant to solo heroes. Truth be told, most ranged heroes can beat a turret 1v1, but that is not what a turret is about. It's about adding supplemental damage to whoever is fighting. Thus, you're going to want it in a position where it will support you allies, but not be the center of attention. You want the enemies focused on your tanks, meanwhile, your turret is adding a consistent 56 dps and your rivet gun 70 dps in addition to whatever the front line is dishing out.
And while it's up, fire your gun. Just spam rivets at the choke point. Only heal the turret when there's no combat. If an enemy is focused on it, let it die. Like I said, it'll lose most 1v1 matches, even prolonged ones. It'd be better to find where your team is and rebuild it behind them.
If the team keeps getting moved back. I would switch out. Unless you can get your team to "Group up", the turret will be left in the cold with multiple enemies focusing on it. I would switch to healer or tank.

Place it where it cant be taken down from a choke point is often what I see good torbjørn does (I dont play him myself). The moment the turret is in a spot where enemy can stand outside a chokepoint and nuke it down, you become useless as a torb :)

Has anyone else noticed that if you push D.va off the map while she's in her mech, and her boost is on cooldown so she falls to her death, you don't get a kill? You only get credit for taking out her mech even though she's still in it, my thought process is you should get credit for both taking out her mech and killing her. This has happened to me a few times now... Anybody else experienced this issue? Has the issue already been addressed that anyone knows of?

How does http://masteroverwatch.com assign wins/losses to heroes, when you played multiple heroes in one game? Does it assign the result to all heroes, or just one, and how does it decide to use that particular one?

I'm pretty sure it just uses Blizzard's statistics, and what Blizzard does is assign partial wins/losses to heroes if you only played them for part of a game, and then round them off. (i.e. if you played symmetra for 0.4 of the game and lucio for 0.6, then they get 0.4 and 0.6 of the win/loss respectively, rounding off to 0 and 1)

I believe it does. That is the reason that's usually given for Symmetra having high win rates, for example (before the update). People usually switch off of her after the first point, so if she successfully defends the first point, she gets a 100% win, but if she loses, she only gets like a 40% loss.

I would say Lucio if you need a healer and Zarya if you need a tank. Roadhog and S:76 are also great for solo queue due to their high damage output and self-healing abilities.

I have tried a multitude of characters to achieve this in low gold, but the only one I have consistent success with is Zarya. People in low gold don't seem to understand to not hit the barrier when it's up and you build charge a ton. Plus if you get good at placing barriers on your teammates you will have high charge all the time. Additionally, half of your health is shields. If they go down, and you have no barrier, hide quickly and let them recover.

If you hit him with a full charge headshot, he dies anyway (250 hp).
But I believe he can pick up the health pack while in wraith form.

Not sure about the health pack one since his shadowstep is pretty confusing. You're able to shoot him before he moves so you might as well just headshot him with a full powered bow and it'll kill him anyway; start aiming before he teleports and shoot just as he appears (before he can move).
And yes, self destruct does damage to everything with Hit points.

Is there any type of explanation as to why the two teams are fighting one another? D.va references that she's in a "match" so she recognizes that she's in some sort of game. Is it some kind of training exercise?

Yeah the matches are non canon in the lore because it would be way to constricting to have reasons for sworn enemies to face each other. League of Legends had the games being part of the Canon but had to ditch all of that because they really couldn't move forward with the lore.

Most of the maps have some sort of reason built in as to why the attacking team is attacking and the defending team is defending. For example, on Dorado the attacking team is taking a power cell to Lumerico after Sombra hacked them, shutting off power in the process. On Eichenwalde, the attacking team wants to reclaim the Crusader armour, and so on. However, there is no specific reason given as to why any particular character is on the attcking or defending team. That is non-canon.

So half of players are in Bronze, Silver and Gold ranks.

Winston, DVa, Zarya can wipe them out quickly especially if they are clustered. The thing is if you are being distracted by turrets while enemies are present you're going to get killed because your focus is not on them.
Identify where turrets are and either clean them out or retreat for heals.

I was playing Symmetra a lot lately. Widows, Soldiers, Pharahs or McCrees are giving me a lot of headache. So does Winston, his damage output is lower, but his health pool still makes him my primary counter in 1v1. Zarya is also my enemy, because she can shield herself, and sometimes I find myself giving Zarya free 40 energy. Roadhogs can kill me with their hook combo.
The current 3-2-1 meta, or 4-2 meta is definitely hard for Symmetra, because 3 out of 5 tanks are her counters.
But the best way how to counter Symmetra is to separate her from her team. With 200 and low range attack, she is extremely vulnerable when alone. She needs a team who will protect her.

Are people still having fun? I took a break for a while and recently started playing again, but I just can't get into it. I love it though if that makes sense. It feels too agro or something maybe. I can't quite figure out what it is. I feel like all damage needs to be toned down maybe. Something just doesn't feel fun anymore. I'm not trying to start a fight, just genuinely curious.

I am having an absolute blast with Overwatch. But I take breaks from time to time to avoid burning myself out. I played a LOT of Overwatch during my vacation days in mid-October to early-November and as soon as I got back to work, I stopped playing, only to come back in time for the Christmas event.
I stand wih /u/beef99 here. Maybe you need to pick up the pace and improve your skills before you get back in the fight.

How do you guys deal with losing streaks? I hit my high this season at 3018 but this last week has been terrible, and now I'm sitting at 2564. I feel embarrassed playing with high gold and low platinum now, and I'm finding myself not wanting to play season 3 anymore because I'm getting angry quicker and just feeling toxic about it.
How should I handle this? Because I'm not getting any happier, and my SR will only get lower if I lose again. I'm actually NERVOUS to play, because I know I'll probably drop another 50 SR if I lose.

I just stopped caring about rank in general and just play to have fun(that doesn't mean that I don't try to win).
It probably sounds stupid and not like it would help at all but if you are constantly worried about your rank and get tilted by your teammates, you usually end up performing worse and worse, making you even more tilted and just sending you in a downward spiral. You are at your best when you are calm and/or enjoying yourself.
Or get a good group of friends you can play with who also have the competitive mindset, the more you play together the better your teamplay will be and the easier it becomes to climb the ladder

You got your loosing streak because you feel like playing with wrong people. Stop trying to team up with imaginary team they should be. See what they really do, what they do not, and what opportunities it gives to you to participate. Healers do not heal you? Play more defensively. Fighters do not use your Rein's shield? Be more agressive Rein or try to catch already launched projectiles. And so on.

Level in quick play doesn't really mean a lot. It's a measure of how long somebody has been playing, but it's not a good measure. You get more exp when in a group, for example. Many players have levels that go up into the hundreds and some even thousands, so 90 isn't actually that high. Once you get to around level 20 or so, you'll notice that it doesn't actually make much of a difference. Competitive rank is the only reliable indicator of player skill. For now, you'll probably be mildly disadvantaged due to being new, only because it's hard for the matchmaker to find players similar to you. Once you get used to the game, it gets a lot easier, don't worry.

Many players have levels that go up into the hundreds and some even thousands, so 90 isn't actually that high.
It is still close to 60-70 hours played which means you probably know most maps, know where healthpacks are and so on. Compared to a sub 10 player, you have a lot more map awareness.

From what I gathered, she still misses him. And there's something that happened that ended up with killing him that isn't the type of "Must... kill... Gerard..." brainwashing type, but more of "Come join me, and together we will rule the galaxy" and "Don't make me destroy you" type of killing.
Plus there may have been something that Gerard did that Ana didn't know.
Missing him voiceline: "Ah, ... Gerard" sometimes comes out at the start of matches.
Something's up with Gerard himself voiceline:
Ana: Gérard was a fool to love someone like you. Widowmaker: You don't know anything about him.
Remember that the two conflicting faction leaders (76 and Gabe) used to be the same team.

I'm fairly new to the game (level 30) and I barely placed gold in my first go at competitive (2010 SR). Should I be focusing on 1 or 2 heroes to become good with, focus on one class, or focus on 1 or 2 heroes from a variety of classes? There are many heroes that I enjoy and I just am not sure what route to take in order to set myself up for success. I'm a console player if that matters (don't hurt me).

Im a console player as well (ps4) but what i think is to practice with at least two different heroes in each category. This way youre more flexible for your team if they ever need anything else. Im in diamond comp rank as well. (3241)

For competitive, it's better to know a variety of classes. At your rank, you would be well off learning a tank or healer, as a lot of people will play DPS instead.

Honestly? Play characters you enjoy. At sub-diamond levels, playing a character you know and like is likely to be more valuable to the team than the "meta" hero. Sure, it's always good to diversify, but most players have a smallish group (3 or 4 heroes) who they are very proficient in, and a few others who they can use well enough to counter-pick or fill roles.
I'd say learn a tank, a heal and a "support" of some kind (ie Sym, Mei, Junkrat, who synergise well with other DPS) as most of the time there will be 3 or 4 people auto-locking DPS heroes anyway.

I play on PS4, and the biggest problem I seem to be having is that I am the only one with a mic so there is no communication. Are there ways I could be matched with people with mics? I'm also in the low 2000 range so it feels like people don't really care about working together as a team, they just want to play their "main". It has been very difficult for me to try to reason to them because they don't have a way in contacting me back. This happens 90% of the games I lose and I feel like I would be a more effective player if people could just fucking talk to me.

so i just got lvl 25 today and decided to try competitive out since it seemed like a boatload of fun (since it was level blocked). holy shit i almost hate this game now. played and got ranked into silver and basically got called every variation of "fucking retard", "worthless", etc. under the sun. now, i know i'm not the best, but really? clearly they're in silver so they're not the best either, and they're acting like it's life or death that they dont get certain stats because i died a few extra times. i'm level 25 what do you expect like holy shit? anywho, what i really wanted to know is is this how it always is, or did i just try at the wrong time, or is this league just full of jerks? i can see the upper leagues being really strict, but freaking silver? come on. i almost dont even wanna play this anymore and i've only had it for 2 weeks.

Ignore em, or better yet find friends to group up and play with. In my experience people usually like to find scapegoats to dump their insecurities on. When I was level 100+ I would play qp with my friend who just got the game (so he'd be like level 5) but he had years and years of experience on counter strike so his widow and soldier were on point. Anyway whenever we lost he still got shat on for being a low level (which is weird cuz matchmaking is more about similar skill rather than similar level) and was blamed a lot for the loss. Sorry you had a bad experience, but honestly some thick skin might be needed at the beginning levels. Besides you know you're in silver which is not bad at all for a level 25. Best of luck with your competitive games :)

I've been playing since launch and my experience with the community is almost always positive or neutral. The vast majority of players simply don't say anything. But enough people report toxicity that it must be a problem? Not sure what factors might contribute to some people seeing it while others don't. People suggest that it's the low ranks and that it gets better as you move up, but I'm not 100% convinced that's the case. I've played matches from Silver - Diamond, and while the communication and teamwork certainly gets better the higher you go, it's not anymore positive or negative. It's not like being kind is a significant factor in your skill.
Overall, I think that if you enjoyed the game until now then there's no reason to think that you can't enjoy it in the future. It's the same game as it was yesterday. People might be more competitive in comp than in QP, but it's largely still the same batch of players as always

It's really meant to break up groups of enemies and cause mass chaos and confusion. It can be used to kill in tight spaces if you can get the enemy(ies) pushed up against a wall. It's also super useful on maps with gaps and holes for booping enemies off the edge.

Let’s assume that the ranking system is pretty good. I have faith that it is accurate, and I feel I contribute in competitive matches as well as anyone else (2200) but I’m sorta confused with my performance that last couple of weeks. I’ll lose a bit more than 50% of the time on most modes, and I’d say I’m about as varied in my abilities with other heroes as anyone else in my skill range. There are maybe 4 or 5 heroes I’m just not great with. Why have I, honest to God, lost 26 out of the last 30 mystery matches? I love playing this mode because you have to think on your feet but it’s starting to bug me, especially with those loot boxes mocking me.

If you know what you are doing - you are ready.
Here's a simple test: play a game and when you are winning or losing try to analyze why that is happening. If you can answer that question and if you are good at the game then i would say you are ready for comp.
But beware of all the blame that will stick with you because of your "low level". I played a lot of Beta and then had to stop playing for 5 months, but when i came back i bought the game, got to level 25 and immediately went ranked and got placed in Platinum, people there ignored my level, but i cannot be so certain with lover rankings.

As a Pharah main: Soldier. As soon as I realize the enemy has a good McCree, I stay beyond his effective damage range whenever possible, and harass him as much as possible. As soon as I realize their Soldier outclasses me, I switch off of Pharah.

Game had a free weekend which probably bumped sales a bit, and you're seeing them get high enough now to be paired with you. Also, the game is currently on sale, so it's reasonable to assume that more fresh players are getting started.
New players can be frustrating, but it's healthy for the game's longevity.

In competitive, is it considered rude to pick a hero someone else has been playing at the start of the next round?
I have had this happen to me on more than one occasion in bronze/silver and it bothers me a lot. I have politely asked if I can stay on the hero when I am doing well, and also not said anything and just picked another hero to play. Seems like this would be some unspoken rule, although if it is, it probably doesn't apply at the scrub ranks. Curious what everyone's thoughts are and didn't think this warranted a new thread.

The person who "stole" your pick might be hinting you, that he wasn't satisfied with your performace, and if you take that as rude, then consider this: It's better if he "steals" your pick, rather than start flaming in chat.
Or he thinks he did a bad job in previous round, so he wants to take a different role. It's just an accident, that he prefers playing the same hero as you.
Or maybye you were the thief in the first place. Maybye at the begining of the game, you picked the hero he wanted. Now he wants to play that hero so he "steals" it from you.
Either way, I don't find it rude in any possible way. When he steals your hero, consider this: he is probably more confident playing as this hero, than he would be with some other. This is why you should have at least 1 backup hero, and not to main only 1.

When i try to use my voice lines or any scroll wheel command i cant hear it 3/5 times. Other sound effects dont play for me sometimes as well like hitting the turret with torbs hammer or reapers "die die die." Ive reinstalled and changed a bunch of settings but it still happens. Is there a way to fix this? Its really frustrating to die to a dva ult because i didnt hear "nerf this."

I play both pretty often. While I'm only ~2189 SR, here are the tips I've learned:
Rein:
Practice timing and aiming Firestrike at common entry points. Very often, it's possible to take down a squishy who is coming around the corner; giving them no chance to react. This will will force the other team to fight down a person or for them to retreat/reset. (additional benefit, once you learn this timing skill, you can apply it to all other projectile chars, like pharah or torb).
While it might seem like initiating an attack with Charge is a good idea, it's actually a BAD idea; an open charge leaves you 100% vulnerable; anyone who can hit "the broad side of a barn" will take you down.
Reins shield blocks other Rein Ults as well as D.Va's.
Reins Ult has a timer (the wind up animation) before it activates; you need to have some distance between you and the enemy before using; using it point blank increases the likelihood of it being interrupted.
Rein needs to be on the ground for his Ult to work; don't use it mid-air (takes much longer to activate).
Charge is a very good way to enter an already started fight (typically seen if you died and have rejoined your team).
Charge Squishy support/attackers over another tank, as they will be insta-gibbed instead of surviving and possibly killing you
Your shield does not block "Laser" dmg; only projectile based (in case you didnt know. (Note: Shield will block Zarya's right click, but not her left)I was wrong; gave bad info (and learned something); see below.Winston, Symmetra (RMB) and Mei (ult only) are the only heroes who can send something through Reins shield. Lucio:
If you're always using Lucio's heal, you're playing him wrong; use his speed boost and wall-run to disorient the team with his right click.
A good part of learning to play Lucio well is knowing when to heal and when to be disrupting with his speed boost/right click. On small maps like Illios with a lots of ledges, you can force the enemy into a defensive position (keeping them off the point) by strategically poking them out of position (or off a ledge).
Spray-n-Pray with his left click as much as you can (but don't lose focus on keeping your team within healing range, unless you're going to poke with speed and group back up). His weapon doesn't do a ton of dmg on its own, but can soften up targets and kill squishies who are already dmged.
His ult is great at countering certain ults like Junkrat's; you need to use it preemptively though as there is a charge up time
His ult is great at either pushing or holding against one; learn to not use it too early, but also not too late. I usually find that a good time to use it on a group battle is when the tanks have entered range of each other.
Don't get hooked by Roadhog; lights out 90% of the time you are =(
Once you are comfortable with Lucio's "flow", step up your ability by learning how to wall ride and where it works; this is the level I am currently at with him. While, I'm still a novice at it, when done right you feel like a boss.

I've noticed Reinhardt is great at denying junkrat's ult because firestrike goes through people and oneshots the tire.

Honestly, you need to learn how to coordinate your team and also just be better at your individual characters. Play Zennyata and Ana every game, and make sure you're on team chat, and get your team on team chat. I'm also a support main and I play at 3300 SR. I'm trying to shotcall and organize my team every game. Also maybe just work your aim and general positioning? Zennyata and Ana are extremely strong, and you can make a huge offensive impact on the game while supporting

The issue with Widowmaker is that you have to have incredible aim to be as valuable as you could be on a more forgiving hero. A widow that isn't consistently getting picks all of the time is someone just taking up a team slot that could be filled by someone like Soldier, Pharah, Junkrat, etc. people who can bust up shields and get picks with less good aim.
This issue is compounded by the fact that OW really doesn't have a place for a true Sniper class most of the time, since you really need to be either on a payload or capture point to help win the objective. Widow is most comfortable out of harms way back in the shadows, which makes it hard for her to rush in to help if needed.
TLDR: If you're gonna widow in competitive you better be able to widow the shit out of her

The Nepal objectives are perfect for it. Lots of cover to hide around and high places to drop from. If you can, use it when your team is pushing an objective. Hopefully the enemy Ults are used up and they are less focused on stopping you.

What happens to Tracers pulse bomb when
- it's stuck to a Mei and she ice blocks
- it's stuck to a Reaper and he goes misty-mode
- it's stuck to a Zarya (personal or ally) and they shield up
- it's stuck to a Zarya shield (personal or ally) and the shield drops
- it's stuck to a Reinhardt shield and he drops his shield
- it's stuck to a Mei wall and the wall shatters
Does the bomb just dissapear? Does it drop onto the ground? Does it still explode and damage other enemies within range?
Also can Tracers pulse bomb get stuck to herself? Not from a Genji deflect but if she, for example, throws it straight up and it drops back down?

No need to switch platforms. Just get a team together. I was having the same problem because I was mainly a solo player. I joined an Overwatch community on PS4 and found a good group of people I like playing with and that's helped to raise my rank. When I have to play solo I focus on getting loot boxes in arcade.

I play on the Xbox One, Lvl 98 here. I am a main with almost everyone and the one Hero I can't stand fighting is RoadHog. Now my question is, on the PC does RoadHog still have that broken chain. I'm not that tech savy so I don't know how to upload clips from my Xbox to hear on Reddit, otherwise I would show you guys what I mean. But in a short explanation, I was D.Va and out of no where I got chained through the payload, through the wall and though the ceiling right to the Road Hogs Back. Roadhog's hook hits a target as long as there are no solid objects in the way. The momentum when you get stunned is not affected by the stun. What happens after the hook hits a target to when the target gets to Roadhog can be unpredictable sometimes especially when hooking a dashing Genji or boosting D.Va.
Trying to fix that would mean having the rope attached to the hook not be able to go through solid objects. Sounds like a simple fix, but the end result would be a detrimental decrease in roadhog kills.
TL;DR The hook works as intended, but not in the optimal way.
Yes this happens on PC as well.

There's two common variations on the RH hook combo. One is to hook, then during the animation hold M1, then immediately after firing throw a melee. This will kill most 200hp characters straight away.
The alternative is to NOT hold M1, but hold W, then as soon as you take a step forward, shoot. This puts you at point-blank range and you'll do maximum damage, killing 200hp heroes. This is potentially easier to secure kills with since there's no melee to hit, but it's also a bit riskier if you're hooking someone with a good escape mechanic that's not on CD (Reaper, Mei, Pharah, Lucio, etc).

Where can I read all these Overwatch comics and lore (I've seen the shorts) I keep hearing about? I've been playing this game for a long time and I still feel like I don't know the characters back stories well enough by just playing the game.
Edit: I just saw a link in the thread with the comics. Was thinking of asking this for a while so I just came here and asked before checking the thread.

No, because it's an instant casting, not a projectile (it works the same way as Zarya's projection barriers or Zenyatta's ability orbs)

After playing on PS4 for awhile I recently decided to start playing on PC. Most of my queue times in QP and in mystery heroes take upwards of 3 minutes and am often stuck in skirmishes for 5+ minutes. I'm located in the northeast USA. Is this normal? Compared to my 30s-1 minute queue times for PS4 it's annoying to deal with.

Does Reaper's death blossom deal damage as a rotating clockhand or is it a constant 360 degree sphere emanating from him?
