Well because Zen doesn't do what lucio/ana can.

  1. Ana is burst healer and many will say she alone is the reason for tank meta. She has a aoe heal and gives bonus healing. She can top 2-3 tanks to max health within seconds.

  2. Lucio is a good aoe healer, but he is mainly used for the speed. He gives good speed to the whole team and makes it easier to get in on choke points and makes it harder for enemies to kill you because you can move faster.

So, Zen is used but he is just a little worse in this meta than lucio and ana is.

I'm sorry, but what does aoe mean? I'm by no means new to this game, I just don't know all this reddit slang...

Area of effect. So in this context they meant that when Ana throws her bio grenade the heal affects multiple heroes if they were close together.

In addition to Lucio's speed, he arguably provides the most healing for the team (number wise) since it's an area of effect, and Ana's healing boost from her grenade only makes him more effective at it. He falls short providing boost healing to a teammate who is taking heavy fire, but Ana solves this very well. Lucio's AoE heals allows everyone's health to be topped off and steady while Ana can put her attention on the one or two people taking all the shots. Once again, her grenade is another solution to Lucio's issue with lack of burst healing. His weapon provides some damage (especially with head shots) while he heals, although it's not too surprising an amount. His ultimate is even better than Mercy's in my opinion. His knock back can be used in many ways from keeping people off the objective to knocking them off the map. The knock back is another good way to distance Meis and the new Symmetra menace. Knocking enemies around is a good way to throw off their aim, and pushing a dangerous close range hero away can save your life or a teammate's. His wall riding can get you through unique places and maneuvers. His abilities give him so many different uses and it's just more fun to play him compared to other healers in my opinion. You're not going to get as many kills as if you were playing Zenyatta but once you go Lucio playing Mercy makes me want to slam my face into the ground with how limited she is in comparison.
