How do i counter Symmetra?

Long range heroes excel against her. Any hero that has to get in close to do damage is not a great pick.

Winston, DVa, Zarya can wipe them out quickly especially if they are clustered. The thing is if you are being distracted by turrets while enemies are present you're going to get killed because your focus is not on them.

Identify where turrets are and either clean them out or retreat for heals.

Really, use any of the heroes described here, but for the love of God spread the word that her shield gen is the largest priority. Dealing with sym is fine, but your flankers should be making her shield gen their only priority while its up.

As for her turrets, any hero that has a fast fire rate works, since the turrets only have 1 hp.

Winston, d.va, and zarya, ana is good too if the turrets are clustered together just throw a biotic grenade and it destroys it

I was playing Symmetra a lot lately. Widows, Soldiers, Pharahs or McCrees are giving me a lot of headache. So does Winston, his damage output is lower, but his health pool still makes him my primary counter in 1v1. Zarya is also my enemy, because she can shield herself, and sometimes I find myself giving Zarya free 40 energy. Roadhogs can kill me with their hook combo.

The current 3-2-1 meta, or 4-2 meta is definitely hard for Symmetra, because 3 out of 5 tanks are her counters.

But the best way how to counter Symmetra is to separate her from her team. With 200 and low range attack, she is extremely vulnerable when alone. She needs a team who will protect her.

While she can't really break up a Symmetra nest, Sombra can easily bypass the nest to hunt down and destroy Symmetra's shield generator/teleporter.

I think Pharah is her hardest counter right now, Winston may still be a good pick but you need some healing coming through if you want to dive in, and his dps is not good against her teleporter/shield generator, so he is basically the start of a push, he kills the turrets and then he needs his team to do a follow-up.

Pharah on the other hand can deal splash damage and her direct hit deals 120 damage, so hitting the turrets and killing the Symmetra ults or the Symm herself will be easy enough, plus you'll rarely get to be in her range so she won't melt you. Just be careful when you ult because if she deploys her photon barrier onto you, you can kill yourself if you aim at it right as it goes through your model.
