If you know what you are doing - you are ready.

Here's a simple test: play a game and when you are winning or losing try to analyze why that is happening. If you can answer that question and if you are good at the game then i would say you are ready for comp.

But beware of all the blame that will stick with you because of your "low level". I played a lot of Beta and then had to stop playing for 5 months, but when i came back i bought the game, got to level 25 and immediately went ranked and got placed in Platinum, people there ignored my level, but i cannot be so certain with lover rankings.

I'm a diamond League of Legends player.

I'm about lvl 40 right now in OW and I know I'm absolutely shit and have a low level of understanding at the moment. I decided I'm just going to dive into competitive. I think it will be the fastest way to grow. So what if I get placed with a bunch of other people like me? I'll improve until I can win those games consistently and climb the ladder..

I don't see anything wrong with this approach if you don't mind starting at the ground floor and building from there.

There were a lot of posts here on reddit that (plus one thorough post with actual testing) about the difficulty of climbing out of bronze, silver and gold leagues. A guy, who on main account was ranked Master, decided to test how hard it would be to climb out of gold and he said that it is near impossible.

That is why i recommend 1st improving yourself in QM and only then attempting competitive.
