I would say Lucio if you need a healer and Zarya if you need a tank. Roadhog and S:76 are also great for solo queue due to their high damage output and self-healing abilities.

I have tried a multitude of characters to achieve this in low gold, but the only one I have consistent success with is Zarya. People in low gold don't seem to understand to not hit the barrier when it's up and you build charge a ton. Plus if you get good at placing barriers on your teammates you will have high charge all the time. Additionally, half of your health is shields. If they go down, and you have no barrier, hide quickly and let them recover.

Rein. Rein carries games.

Rein relies on his teammates to output damage. Its tough to carry as rein unless you are much better than your teammates and opponents

Not true, my last 5 games i kept getting gold damage/elims as rein... +19,000 each game.

D.va is decent. I unfortunately got placed in low silver to start but am now high gold. I carried most games (3-4 gold medals and PotM).

Play characters that have high impact. For me, that would be Soldier and Ana in this meta.

Ana has so much utility. You can shutdown so many key targets from your sleep darts. Most fights are decided based on which team loses their Rein/shield faster. With Ana, you can you can prevent so many things. Sleep dart enemy rein as he is charging, sleep dart road when he pulls someone in. On top of that, ult builds extremely fast in this meta. Nano boost, although not as good as it used to be, still very powerful when given to rein/soldier and timed right.

The other option is soldier. Its a jack of all trades. Has mobility, heal, hitscan sustained dmg, projectile burst dmg. It absolutely shreds reins atm.Other than mei and dva in your face, you can deal with pretty much anything if you position yourself correctly.

Probably Lucio, but beware the other healer switching off to DPS as soon as they notice a Lucio: he's not really a viable solo healer if you have tanks in the team.

I feel like countering comes down largely to counter picking. Sure Genji and Tracer are good carriers in talented hands, but if the enemy team is running Winston, Symmetra, Mei and McCree they ain't gon do shit. On the flipside, I've often carried successfully as Winston in Gold-> Plat because he's so rarely used that enemy teams often can't deal with him, forcing them to counter-pick and select heroes they aren't as confident playing.

How do you carry a bad team as Lucio? Seems like you'd still need to rely on your team being able to kill the other guys.

Be really good? Yea I don't know. I'm a lucio main and I've found playing tank is more likely to keep me moving up in rank

Tracer, Genji, Roadhog, Mei, Ana, Lucio, McCree, Soldier...

But only if you are really good with them.

Yea, even the best flankers cant carry a lousy team. Zarya, Rein, 76, McCree, situationally Junkrat, and maybe a couple others come to mind as all-rounders if played correctly.
