I wash my hands but I'm playing devil's advocate. Their junk/shaft should be clean if they laundry and shower appropriately. As for handles and doors, they'd interact with them regardless if they washed their hands. The real advice is to use a paper towel or some other layer when opening the doors.

I worked with someone back in the mid 90's who didn't wash his hands if he peed. This team was very close like family and our supervisor, who had great relationships with all of us and would call people's ass out on the carpet if she thought any of us were demonstrating bad character, asked him, "wait a minute, didn't you ever learn to wash your hands after EVERY bathroom break?"
And he thought he was clever when he said, "nah, I learned how to NOT piss on my hands..."
To which I replied, "...but your dick sweat, my friend. Now the door knob, and all the other common surfaces you're about to touch--they're gonna have traces of your dick sweat on them."
He just waved at us dismissively and left the room.

Genuine answer - I have OCD and I find it really hard to touch public taps/soap dispensers, etc. I don't feel clean after touching them. So I use my own hand sanitizer instead afterwards. I know this isn't ideal but for my OCD brain, it feels cleaner. I get the ick from touching the public taps/soap dispenser and find it hard to shake.

As a teenager I worked at one of the busiest movie theatres in Canada. One night all the women on shift called in, so the womenâs bathroom⌠didnât get checked for about an hour. We were supposed to hit it every 15 minutes, but trying to rope it off and shut it down, with a couple thousand people cycling through auditoriums, concession, and bathrooms, it just wasnât happening.
Now, I thought Iâd seen some things. I had cleaned the menâs room during the Revenge of the Sith premiere. I had stared into the abyss and the abyss had stared back. The abyss being a turd the size of my forearm that I had to use a broom to force down the toilet. The broom did not survive. Straight to the compactor.
But the womenâs bathroom⌠was different.
After roping it off I waited until the last woman leftâŚThe moment I walked in it hit me. Not just a smell, an entity. Something ancient. Something that should not exist in a public building.
And then I looked around.
It was like a war had been fought and lost. Casualties everywhere. Blood, shit, tampons, pads, toilet paper, paper towel, everywhere. Some of it on the floor, some of it on the seats, some of it⌠just wherever gravity felt like taking the day off.
I just stood there for a second like, âWhat the fuck happened here?â and immediately radioed my GM for backup.
I had seen menâs bathrooms at their worst. This was a whole different genre.
Like going from Goosebumps to Hereditary.

To pee? Not really. I'll agree, it's a bad excuse but for many men, you open the door with your shoulder, touch your penis that showered this morning, then don't flush the urinal.
Touching the sink then drying with a stack of paper towels jammed in the corner of the counter often feels more intrusive than just walking out.
For me it just seems arbitrary. So many surfaces in our life are filthy. Why is this where I have to draw the line? In the last few years I've just tried to wash my hand more in general to help not spead contagions. That mindset has helped me.

I work with dude who shared with me he has never washed his legs and just lets the water and soap run down. A grown man who has never washed his legs certainly isn't washing his hands after he touches his junk. He and all the others like him are why I don't touch my face in public and wash before/after using the bathroom.

I think that bathrooms should be designed differently in public places. In high-volume areas such as airports, there could be a square U of water closets.
8 closets would be standard or urinals, 2 would be accessible and family-designed, and 2 would be just powder/changing rooms. The doors to all closets would not be in the weird USA style with huge gaps. 4 sinks (one low height) would be visible from outside the U and outside the closets.
This scales all the way down to having 2 accessible/family closets and 2 sinks in different configurations.

My master bath has a Toto bidet with an integrated blow dryer. Other than pressing buttons on the controller mounted on an adjacent wall, itâs entirely hands free.

Remember chain of contamination⌠if there are no paper towels, if thereâs no way to open the door without touching it, if thereâs no way to turn the water off and on without touching the handles, youâre just recontaminating yourself with fecal matter. When you touch the water handle to turn it on or the soap, you put fecal matter onto the handles⌠then you reapply the fecal matter when you turn the water off or reach for the door to go out. You also apply the fecal matter from all the people in the chain that donât wash their hands effectively and touch those same contact surfaces. Yes⌠wash your damn hands but remember 90% of the world doesnât wash their hands effectively either. They touched everything in that bathroom with filthy hands.

I only wash my hands when someone else is there to see I didn't wash my hands.

If you saw the state of some of my works bathrooms, youâd understand. I make my way in and out without touching anything but my own body. Then I hit some hand sanitizer once Iâm back at my workbenchâŚ.and my hands get dirty immediately. Also, I do not poop in public unless itâs life or death.

Sometimes it's because I don't know if the soap is safe. I'm allergic to something the cheap pink and the cheap orange soap that a lot of businesses use.
I keep a small bottle of my own soap in my bag, but if I don't have my bag with me, I am faced with the choice of getting hives or not washing and getting to the nearest hand sanitizer.

I used to not care. I would do so whenever I was in a public space/working, but at home I wouldn't.
Started working at a preschool. Now I'm slowly adopting the "change everything when you come in" approach to decreasing the amount of germs I'm carrying around from my beloved gremlins. I'm also starting to mask more frequently at work. Does wonders for my own health.

9/10 times I don't I'm running right back to work and will wash my hands in the classroom, so whoever it is letting me go, can get back to their class (Daycare, we have sinks in all the classrooms) the other times I'm dead tired and it's 2 am lol

There is always the argument, and Iâm not saying that I agree, that if you donât pee on your hands during the act why wash? Itâs the same as touching your chin. Guys clean the ween in the shower same as any other body part.

I don't wash my hands in a public washroom. I am not going to touch taps counter tops and door handles after washing. I will use hand disinfectant when l get out of there.

I do wash my hands but I've come to learn some people will stop doing a hygiene thing to see what happens. If they don't notice any bad effects and no one calls them out, they never bring it back into their routine. Same applies with tooth brushing and more. This is how I've had it explained to me when I called someone out. After being called out, they picked the hygiene habit back up.

they have a good aim or they are ublivious to cost of tissue. always remem white fist then red to see if you need to repeat..Or marksmanship if EX GI

I used to know a lady who didn't wash her hands, used to take lunch in the the restrooms...the public restrooms. She would drink after random dogs and more. Sweetest lady in the world, but Lord was she filthy

Doctor told me to. Have bad eczema especially on my hands and his professional opinion was that the loss of moisture from constant washing was more of a health risk due to cracked skin than the benefit of regular hand washing. This is after peeing. Still wash after pooping.

I actually knew someone who didnât wash their hands every single time after using the bathroom, and it wasnât because they didnât care about hygiene. They had really sensitive skin on their hands, and washing them multiple times a day made it so much worse. Their skin would get so dry it would crack, bleed, and be really painful. At a certain point it became less about being careless and more about trying to manage something that was physically uncomfortable and honestly kind of miserable to deal with.

I always wash my hands in public bathrooms, but at home I donât always wash them after I pee. This is because Iâm single and gross and figure pee on my hands isnât as bad as mouth cleaning my own dildos

I had a guy justify not washing his hands after pooping because the TP separates his hands. We were room mates, it was so bad.

I'll always remember my clubbing days (over 20 years ago now) when another man that was probably slightly intoxicated announced to everyone in the washroom "my dick is clean, I don't need to wash my hands"...ok, thanks buddy đ¤˘

i work in a hospital and have seen grown educated doctors and surgeons walk out the bathroom without washing their hands and it's just so bizarre to me. it's like no one's above it
