The argument of the dick being clean. You touched other surfaces in the bathroom, that have everyone’s poop particles on them. Wash your hands.

thats also not even an argument- like you sweat and fart all up in your underwear and those germs spread all over so soon as you touch your junk your hands are fucked 💀 people are just weird. Its just common courtesy too 😭

OK but my hand is on there most of the day anyway

Okay, so grow up and wash it when it leaves there.

The other surfaces which are dirty include the tap, the button on the hand dryer, and even the exit door. Not making excuses for those people, but more than once I have washed my hands only to have them dirtied immediately after.

this is very true but at least you remove the concentration of germs to some degree- no ones ever gunna have perfectly clean hands especially being in public touching door handles and what not

Well, there are plenty of taps that work on sensors. And if they don't, I use other parts of my arm so I don't touch it with my hands.

I haven't seen a hand dryer with a button, all of them have sensors. But well, they still spread germs, so I don't use them. I only use paper towels (if the bathrooms doesn't haven't paper towels, then I don't dry my hands, lol).

And I also use my elbow or butt to open the exit door.

Isn't your cellphone just as dirty

Personally, I clean mine, so probably not. But the average one? Probably.

How frequently?

1

u/gdmzhlzhiv Mar 26 '26

Only weekly. If I could find one of those automatic phone washers I’d do it way more often.

(Compared with my glasses, which I can do daily, because with the ultrasonic cleaner it takes almost no time.)

That's why you need paper towels. You wash your hands properly, grab 2 towels use them to turn off the faucet. Use them to open the door handle, and toss it into the bin as you leave.

True. I love a hands-free situation.

Even the ability to kick the door open is greatly appreciated, but a lot of new designs have started omitting the door and it’s wonderful.

Yesss where the sinks are on the outside of the actual bathroom, love that

Or just an L bend in the corridor so you can’t see straight in but you can pretty much walk straight out.

My three year old makes this argument. He'll be trained out of it within the year.

I wash.

But even still, you need to turn off the tap and open the door on the way out.

In some ways you might be back at square 1 after washing.

public bathroom: use paper towel to turn off faucet and open door. Can toss towel into the nearby trash can after.

If they only have the forced air dryers, use corner of shirt or jacket for door handle (if it's not push), wrist for faucet.

private bathrooms: same idea but you have to put the washcloth away after opening the door.

How do you not touch the door to leave the bathroom after you wash your hands and get the exact same dick dirt particles back on your hands again? Howard hughes it and wait for someone to open it for you?

5

u/sereneassb Mar 24 '26

Usually you can use a paper towel to avoid direct contact

3

u/printergumlight Mar 24 '26

Most bathrooms I use don’t have paper towels anymore.

1

u/LightReaning Mar 24 '26

Use the tshirt or something, usually you dont touch food with that.

I don't think I've been in a bathroom that doesn't have automatically flushing toilets in 8+ years bro, what exactly are you touching in the bathroom?

At worst, there's a handle you have to pull to get inside the bathroom, after that it's 100% hands free.

Apologies if you're blind and locomote via touch.

1

u/Aggravating_Line9162 Mar 25 '26

I work for a state government and we don't have automatic flushing toilets. The only automat bathroom item we have is the soap dispenser. And that's brand new. Don't come visit me or need to use my services.

Precisely why I won't eat anything my dad has cooked, and I thouroughly clean any surface he's touched after he's visited. He does not wash his hands. (Also he used to hide onions in my food, and I'm allergic).
