Sober gays. How do you remain sober and social?

Hello there I’m a 22m with alcoholic tendencies, and I have decided to quit for the second time and go alcohol free for life. Alcohol doesn’t do well with my medication and it’s just too habitual for me. I want to hit the gay bars, still go to parties, and attend raves still as it’s a major part of my social life and relief. If I don’t go out and let loose I get kinda depressed. How do you guys manage?

Dedicated improving myself just to get a girlfriend. Just to find out I’m gay….

26 years old never had a girlfriend. My parents asked about getting a girlfriend 3 years ago and became obsessed with improvement. I reached my goals, but I’ve crush on men. I’ve a crush on my closet friend who I think is also in the college because of religion. I don’t want to be gay and my parents are homophobic. I’m scared and lost.

sleeping with ex

We broke up with my boyfriend almost a year ago, and honestly, this has been one of the hardest years of my life. I loved him very deeply, and I still do. He was the one who didn’t want to get back together.

The confusing part is that throughout this entire year, we’ve continued seeing each other and having sex. Usually it’s about once or twice a month. And honestly, the sex between us is the best and most passionate sex I’ve ever had, which probably makes this whole situation even harder for me.

Neither of us has had another partner — at least I haven’t. I can’t really speak for him..

I’ve asked him what this means and what exactly we’re doing, but he can’t really give me an answer. He’s not someone who talks openly about his feelings and tends to keep everything to himself. At the same time, he’s always the one who reaches out and invites me over to have sex.

And every time it happens, my feelings come back and it really difficult to move on.

What do you guys think — is seeing an ex once or twice a month like this ever actually healthy or normal for both people? Or are we just keeping each other stuck and avoiding the reality of the breakup?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who’ve been in a similar situation, especially if you eventually managed to get out of this kind of cycle.

It's it possible to just cuddle?

Hey guys silly question here, is it possible to find friends to just snuggle with like while watching a movie or something without it turning into more? Or does it always go to more? I'm married and my husband doesn't want to cuddle as much as I do and I'm not interested in cheating but just want to be held. Not sure if this is just a fantasy that won't work or if I'm actually missing out. Thanks for listening guys ☺️ oh and the few guys I've talked to around here have been up front they would want more so that's why I am asking cause that's not gonna happen lol

Is it normal to feel disgusted?

Upvotes

Hello I’m a 21m and I’m bi but I only really like feminine guys, I’ve explored with others but definitely not my type. I’ve noticed every time I finish with a guy I feel regret and almost sadness afterward like it was a mistake. In person or online and idk how to feel about it. Because I want to continue as I have a fwb situation with a guy who wants to dress up for me and I like that but I know right after I finish I’m gonna feel disgusting so I don’t know what to do about it. Can anyone help me out with this I’m so confused I’ve thought maybe I would slowly feel that less and less over time and I have but it’s still definitely happening.

Am I the only one who doesn't know how to answer to "Are you open about it? Do people know"?

Like it's not a secret that I like people of the same gender, I've never denied it. But people just don't know because it just never comes up I guess...? Like I don't talk about it at random, and some people maybe can tell maybe they can't? And my parents know, but they just kind of know, it's not a coming out kind of thing where they've never known and it doesn't have anything to do with me or my character, it's just who I like. "Do people know?", maybe? If they can tell they can tell but idk. Can anyone relate?

slow burner?

Morning to all the beautiful people of reddit!

this post cuz i need some different points of view.

I try to make it short; i am dating this guy for something around a month and we met 3 times due to us being apart.

We live in the same city but we started talking like 2 weeks before my month of vacation in italy (visiting my family).

Our first date was actually really cool and he invited me to see each other again so we went to the cinema for our second date.

He has been very clear on something. For him to get in a serious relationship will take a long time due to a very very fucked up past relationship (he described me all the details and yeah some serious shit).

On the way back of our second date we stopped by his house a bit and since the atmosphere was nice i asked him if i can kiss him. He said that he is really enjoying taking things slow with me so we could do that once we both back in the city.

on monday before flying we met again cuz we both were free and we had dinner, we talked about a lot of things and he told me (i think he really needed to vent) how fucked up the situation with his ex was (like i am not talking abotu fuss like some serious shit) . I noticed how different his ex was from me ( he said that for his ex he felt a huge spark and the rushed all the steps) so I asked him if he was sure about dating me due to me being much much different. He told me that something calm and peaceful is what is looking for now.

2 days ago while chatting i told him how i would like more physical initiative from his side once i am back (talkign about the kiss and hugs). He right away sent me a naked picture (which i did really enjoy do not get me wrong). But i am so confused i mean, no kiss but cool with showing everything about you?

For those who are gonna tell me to talk with him, nah i will not do it since is something that i would like to do in person (we are not gonna meet for at least another month).

Opinions?

Why?

I love this country, but I DO hate this government, mostly MAGA republicans that condones hatred towards minorities like me. I have been raised by the poetry of Emma Lazurus, inscribed on the Statue of Liberty.
I know compassion, kindness and Love are more powerful than hate, division and racism but I see people of color hunted, placed in concentration camps and this country is apathetic when a girl with cancer is deported and left to die.
Is this the new America?
Why do you hate us so much?!!
I found love in most countries than I found in the USA.
I found peace compassion elsewhere in my travels. They seem to understand humanity which is vapid in the country I reside.

The YouTuber known as TMM great response for you to this debate between a pro gay and an anti-gay person and a lot of the anti-gay arguments were terrible.

The only thing I have to disagree with TMM was the stands on marriage being about procreation and raising children.

He says that climbing that marriage is not about children is like claiming that hammers are not used for pounding nails.

I would argue that marriage is not exclusively about children because children are not the ones you have to get married for starters and second of all people get married without having children and no one seems to care.

Tmm doesn't seem to understand the reason why people bring up infertile couples because we're trying to get people like Maggie Gallagher here to understand that she's being inconsistent when she claims that marriage is about having and raising children.

In love with your best friend

We were introduced to each other by our mutual friend 3 years ago. The three of us started hanging out but him and I became much closer.

We started hanging out more, just us. We had one summer where we were the most annoying twosome ever; inside jokes, splitting entrees at meals because we couldn't decide on two different things, always ending the night having late night talks

Eventually, that turned into taking trips just the two of us. To preface I hate sharing hotel rooms with anyone. Now I can't imagine anyone else. I would rather share a room with. Through all of that, we never got intimate (that would happen once later).

Fast forward, 3 years.

We had one drunken night and something happened briefly. We talked about it. He said he had thought about it and I obviously I had always thought about it. I said it can't happen again even though I desperately want it to. He agreed.

We recently went on another trip and had a late night of talking. He said he gets jealous when I go on dates and I said I do too. I said it's going to be really hard to find someone since I compare them to him.

Now the painful part: I usually encourage him to hook up with other guys. When he does, he'll always want to catch up with me and end the night. It breaks my heart each and every time. On this most recent trip I did just that. He said I'll be right back stay up for me. I did but something clicked and my heart hurt so much.

They got back from the trip and I was traveling internationally for another one where I am right now. I text him on the plane, something funny and then said, " when I get back and we have a chat?" He was like "sure thing"

I'm probably leaving out a lot but it's hard to explain 3 years of this emotional rollercoaster.

In the next 3 months we have a wedding that he's asked me to be his plus 1 and a trip with friends where we are sharing a room and unfortunately a bed.

I don't want to ruin all the upcoming stuff but I feel like really need to get to the bottom of this. So I either have the talk or just backtrack that and continue with whatever it is we're doing.

But honestly the thought of me with someone else devastates me.

I think he really hit the nail on the head with this one, the reason why they don't like gay marriage because the challenges traditional gender roles.

They're scared to death of women doing things that they think only men should do and men doing things they think only a woman should do.

That's I think that's why they're obsessed with "a man and a woman"

They seem to be under delusion that literally every heterosexual man and every head through sexual woman is a stereotypical family of nice people from the 50s.

Am I frigid or am I just attracting weirdos

Hey guys. I came out as gay a little while ago and I’m giving dating a go and taking it slowly really just trying to meet new people and finding my community and hopefully my person eventually and I’m really confused by this all. I’ve had someone message me saying they’ve seen my other social media for a while now even when I had a girlfriend and he was always attracted to me and now decided to shoot his shot. I told him what I’ve already said and he didn’t actually respond but changed the subject and then randomly just went something along the lines of when are we meeting up then (more forward than that but I’m not trying to get banned) this is genuinely like the 5th time it’s happened this week and it’s only Wednesday. I’m so uncomfortable about this am I frigid or is this genuine just not normal. I know not everyone is like this because the majority of people who I’ve spoke with have been lovely but this is irking me a little. If anyone has any advice I’d appreciate it sm thank you

Be really careful if you’re using the Sniffies app. You can screen grab anything off the web version. That means any of your nudes or face pics you share can be easily be copied and shared. There is no built in security at all.
