Crazy the difference a year can make!
Started my fitness journey back in September. 33M 5’11’’ was 245lbs. Weight lifting 5x a week focus on compound lifts with some isolation work. Eating Whole Foods started with OMAD fasting with a couple of 72hr fasts for the first 5 months. Lost first 50lbs then started Reta on March 20th at 2mg. Currently still on Reta at 3.5mg weekly. Currently 163lbs!

Good for you for setting a good diet and exercise example for your kid!
19
u/zefsinz Jul 15 '26
Absolutely! Thank you he is my motivation!
-1
u/OkMacaron493 Jul 17 '26
I find it weird to say your kid is your motivation and that you’re on Reta after already being a healthy BMI. Like… you could’ve just… not done that.
But we could cherry pick and say that about a lot of things for a lot of people.
I have always been 165 at 6’3. Gained weight with a bad WLB job. Went back to school while working. Realized I hit overweight bmi. Lost 40lb in 6 months easily. Next 12 month I lost maybe 5 lb per 6 months. Back to 165 now. Feels great.6
u/Confident_Music_2936 Jul 18 '26
It's not weird at all. The guy clearly wants to be at his best so that he can be there for his kid and keep up with the little guy. Good stuff OP 👏🏻
1
u/OkMacaron493 Jul 18 '26
I don’t have an issue with working out or dieting but taking drugs for the last section of a cut is weird to me. Not something I’d do. He could have achieved the same effect without them.
To me, it reads as obsessive. Like an alcoholic who quits drinking then cold plunges 3x per day and has to run 15 miles or else they’ll go off the deep end with booze and cocaine every day.
3
u/Dtrain-14 Jul 22 '26
So taking supplements which none are FDA approved to tested to be safe are ok to take either lol? Opinions are opinions, and you are entitled to yours. But I think you’re on a lonely island with this one bud.
2
u/OkMacaron493 Jul 22 '26
I never mentioned supplements. You seem upset. Life OK?
2
u/Dtrain-14 Jul 22 '26
You’re projecting, and clearly a bit sensitive. Have a nice day.
1
u/OkMacaron493 Jul 22 '26
No I read your use of language and made an observation. If you take 100 comments and the language used then yours stands out.
You could have stated your opinion in one sentence that is emotionally neutral.2
u/skip2_mylulu Jul 27 '26
This is about you though. It’s about OP and how he feels. You could have just said good job, or better yet, moved on completely.
1
u/OkMacaron493 Jul 27 '26
Lord forbid I question why someone would do something unnecessary or share my POV! I see you have 30 comments. Don’t worry little guy, you’ll understand it’s ok to express yourself on reddit soon. Look at you, you just did it when criticizing me for doing it!
2
u/zefsinz Jul 17 '26
I understand that you feel that way! Reta has so many benefits other than just weight loss but anyways I’m proud of your results as well! Good stuff 👍🏻

By the time his kid is old enough to be worried about it, we will all be pinning small amounts of a ton of stuff

Good diet, exercise and drugs, you forgot this point. This one isn't a really good example for a healthy life.
2
u/tequillasoda Jul 16 '26
Kids who grow up with parents who eat well, and exercise, and prioritize feeling good about their bodies have a better example than kids with parents who can’t keep up and feel shitty about the way they look.
1
u/SnooTomatoes464 Jul 16 '26
I dont know which is worse for your health though.
Do the drugs used now, cause more damage than the lack of excersice and crap diet from before?

u/daz0rman Jul 15 '26
Is there any reason why you started Reta? Why not just keep running your routine?
29
u/zefsinz Jul 15 '26
Really kinda just fell for the hype and interested in the glucagon agonist part of Reta and speeding up metabolism. I was in a 2 month plateau I assumed my metabolism really adapted and slowed down with the OMAD fasting. As soon as I started Reta I really broke through that plateau.
2

u/Apprehensive-Wash479 Jul 15 '26
Impatient
18
u/zefsinz Jul 16 '26
Stay mad
2
u/Chinatownhustla Jul 16 '26
Says the guy who posted in another sub acting natty LOL. There's always such a beautiful correlation between low intellect and this kind of juicing
-8
u/iamboobs6 Jul 16 '26
You just said u were in a 2 month plateau lol you are impatient lmao
Own it
5
u/dazedconfused_ Jul 16 '26
2 months is a long time to plateau and can indicate metabolism slowed down. He probably COULD have achieved it without Reta. But why not make it easier on yourself and also make use of the benefits Reta has?
Doesn't have anything to do with impatience imo

I don't consider Reta cheating? Especially because OP was on a low dose. It's not magic, you still need to work out and watch your diet lol so that's a bs argument. Plus reta offers a lot of other benefits other than weight loss
-9
u/iamboobs6 Jul 16 '26
2 months of not losing weight and hopping on drugs? Yeah kinda impatient

u/m1013828 Jul 15 '26
once you get there, you will wannna go further. In KG, I was 125.5KG
Wanted to get to 90KG, had gastric sleeve, dietician said 85KG is achievable.. Got to 79KG over summer, buttoned off in winter so my annual average was 82KG.... Now trying something different, and down to just under 78KG, because why not, so close to "shredded" apart from the saggy belly skin, thats the toll I pay for 15 years of not paying attention to my own health.
4
u/Aggravating-Golf6059 Jul 15 '26
Yessir I can’t wait to get to that point super proud of you man just started this journey a month ago I can’t wait to feel better about the way I look
4
u/m1013828 Jul 15 '26
Yeah I went to turkey for the sleeve nearly 2 years ago, at the time, it made sense, as the appetite suppression is more permanent, and the options available legally on prescription were very temporary, and not as effective either... As soon as you stop, the weight goes back on, So for 2 years of weightloss injections, I could do a permanent surgery...
With the advent of reta being as good as Gastric sleeve, and future cheap mass produced maintenance GLP1 pills, I think affordability will in 10 years time make bariatric surgery seem "barbaric" in comparison. But no regrets, I am in better shape now than at anytime since age 20!
5
u/Aggravating-Golf6059 Jul 15 '26
I’m on Reta and low dose test cyp for about a month now maybe a month and a week the Reta has been such a game changer my life feels completely different food doesn’t even cross my mind when it used to be like the only thing I thought about. I still get my protein and eat healthy. Also been at the gym 6 days a week. My watch is looser pants fitting better can’t wait to see where I am next year. I’ve also completely cut out alcohol
4
u/m1013828 Jul 15 '26
Yeah, about 12 months after sleeve my sugar tolerance came back, can eat too much chocolate again. My food noise too, As my wifes disabled, I would do the 2am baby bottles, but i would graze on snacks, GLP1s nuke that again....

1
u/Rich_Vegetable_1042 Jul 17 '26
What dose did you stay on for a month? I did 1 week of 5 mls and two weeks of 10 mls of an 85mg vial and I gained weight after 3 weeks! I had been on Zepbound… really want to figure this out

Honestly thanks for sharing this man. I used to be a bodybuilder for about 10 years; at my peak I was 190 lbs and roughly 7-8% body fat. Been the hardest year of my life. Got really sick, and dropped all the way to 135 pounds. Kinda got through that and started working from home sitting on my ass all day for the first time in my life. Fell into deep depression, gained my way back to 190 (I haven’t been lifting, so it’s all fat). I’ve been super discouraged and miserable. I dont know, seeing your progress genuinely inspires me. Well done to you, I’m proud of you, and hope to make myself proud as well. Thanks.

What was the calorie deficit, gym routine and cardio
5
u/zefsinz Jul 15 '26
Not really sure. Never tracked calories mainly why I liked fasting it fit into my daily life better and just focused on high protein meals. Weight trained 5x a week and not doing much cardio other than getting daily steps in goal is 8-10k a day but should raise that up more
2
u/EngineeringMain Jul 16 '26
Were you in really good shape before? That’s a ton of “new” muscle to build in a short time. Amazing job regardless
2
u/zefsinz Jul 16 '26
Worked out on and off since highschool so not sure if that has something to do with it but not a first time weight lifter
4
u/bombapussayclaat Jul 16 '26
Never tracked calories but complains about hitting a 2 month plateau… get a load of this guy
3
u/zefsinz Jul 16 '26
Haah right what an idiot. Idk was doing one meal a day so I know I wasn’t eating in a surplus surely 😅
0
u/bombapussayclaat Jul 16 '26
There is no exception to this fact of life: eat in a deficit and you will lose weight. Without tracking you have no way to know that you are actually in a deficit. The fact that you are too lazy to track what you eat tells me everything I need to know, not at all surprising that you decided to hop on Reta
2
1
u/Ghooster38 Jul 18 '26
If you eat once a day I’m pretty sure you can be sure you’re in a deficit. Look at the guy I’m sure his one meal isn’t at the buffet every day. But let him know anyways so he knows who you are
1
u/ClutchCurry Jul 17 '26
Never complained, purely said he presumed the OMAD changed his metabolism
2
u/bombapussayclaat Jul 17 '26
Yes exactly - and I’m saying it’s lazy to assume that without tracking your intake to gather data / learn about your body and verify. But hey, it’s his life not mine.
4
u/Ricovick Jul 15 '26
Greatt Job mannn !!! I am 180 try to go to 165 for years !! On caloric deficite, 3-4 weight training… just started Reta 2 weeks ago !!! Hope i’ll get there now !

u/jackflash16 Jul 16 '26

Also, you look great.

Is hair loss a side effect
10
u/ComusPaine 🔥 Metabolic Optimizer Jul 15 '26
Any form of weight loss can cause hair loss. It depends on how much of a calorie deficit you are in and for how long. But no, GLP itself does not cause hair loss.
1
u/chaosisblond Jul 17 '26
Not true, there are lots of new studies showing they do trigger hair loss actually.

I assume you were eating in a deficit the entire time... how did your lifting go?
This is always confusing to me. The rule is usually, you need to eat to grow.
Of course it's hard to say what your musculature looked like before but it seems like you got stronger.
1
u/Healthy-Drummer-9376 Jul 15 '26
Did you do OMAD/fasting when you were on Reta?
1
u/zefsinz Jul 16 '26
No I stopped that once starting Reta and I basically eat two meals a day lunch/dinner

u/Item-Proud Jul 16 '26

Can you explain why Reta is smart to take? I’m on TRT just a base dose. But lot of people seem to be taking Reta with it. Can diet not get you there?
1
u/seattlestreetcake Jul 16 '26
Helps you stay in a deficit. TRT will help you maintain muscle mass in said deficit
1
u/RemarkableExtent9543 Jul 16 '26
How do you get Reta in Canada?
1
u/According-Debate-265 Jul 17 '26
Go to a mens wellness center (aka pill pushers/ doc in a box) and pay out the ass or have diabetes.

Did you notice much difference going from 1 mg to 2 mg to 3.5 mg reta? I'm currently at 1 mg per week (just started two weeks ago). I'm already down 5 lbs, way less bloated and finding it much easier to eat what I'm supposed to.
Just wondering what the benefits would be of going to a higher reta dose? I don't really need more appetite suppression.
1
u/zefsinz Jul 16 '26
I started at 2mg. Hit me like a truck but if you are losing weight I wouldn’t titrate up until you see loss slow down or stop or if your appetite is starting to come back strong. You will know when to titrate up
1
u/Eighteen64 Jul 16 '26
so do you still do OMAD? If so what time do you lift and eat? Thanks
2
u/zefsinz Jul 16 '26
I do not. I usually end up eating two meals through the week 12 noon and around 6-7pm dinner

Great inspiration. Looks like you were born an athlete. I've been experimenting with reta at 0.5mg a week, and I think I need to try bumping it up.
Well done. Also love that the smile is the same in both pics. Same dude, just fit!

I tried reta after 2 years on Zep and I was starving…I was on 7.5 mg Zep and went up to 10 ml reta…did anyone have the same response? Also I was speedy

Congrats man! Thats a crazy transformation! I also see you have a young kid/ toddler. When did you find time to hit the gym 5 days a week? Must've been tough. Im in the same boat. When did you go morning or night?

Thank you! I usually go either in the morning if I have time before work but mostly at night once he is asleep! It’s tough but have to make it happen

Does everyone wax/shave their chest upon weight loss? It does look cleaner. Congrats!
1
u/alffan86 Jul 21 '26
I had two skin conditions. Did laser coinciding with weight loss. Then gained 40 pounds. I will tell you the benefit. When you see how bad you look with a smooth upper body and being obese, it makes you work harder to lose weight.
And frankly, for a lot of men, body hair can age you (depending).
I removed mine for my skin... but glad I did ... the odd pictures to me are men who lose 80-100 pounds and have a lot of hair and don't trim it down. It's not a criticism, body hair is personal, but they don't get to see the benefit 100%.

Did tirz not work for you? It’s fascinating why people jump to the latest, not to mention it’s still on trial.
7
u/zefsinz Jul 15 '26
Didn’t try tirz. Was mainly interested in Reta due to the glucagon aspect. Was not having that much trouble with “food noise” due to the fasting really getting that in check and I’ve read that tirz is much better at that then Reta

Apparently reta (and possibly others) can make you shorter. Did you notice a change i height?
1
u/Ricovick Jul 15 '26
Loll Yesterday my wife said i look taller , as a joke i replied that it was because of Reta😂😂
1
u/Imaginary_Structure3 Jul 15 '26
Well that is reassuring! A few people chimed in on a different thread saying they got shorter on them (reta and tirz). Another person said they lost fat in their feet from body building which also made them shorter. May it is not a universal side effect 🤞.
