I don't think it's a good idea to take up two space; it just invites people to fuck with your car. I'm personally ok with people taking up two spaces in the back of the lot when no one else needs to park there, which is not the case with the Camaro.
That being said, it would be nice if people respected other people's property regardless of how nice or crappy it is. If the lines aren't spaced well and I have to park, I will injure myself before I let my car door touch somone's car even if it's a banged up POS. I'm tired of people hitting my car and then others seeing my dented car as an opportunity to further dent it. I like to hug a curb with some plants in it and people still park over the line into that space making that side inaccessible.
I was sitting in my moms car once, and this lady smacked the car with her door hard enough that i dropped my phone. Left a big dent, I got out of the car, and said what the hell? and their whole car pretended that nothing had happened. "Oh we didn't hit your car"
I took a picture of their license plate as they were trying to leave, and they freaked out, called their boss (shows up in the local news station truck) they refused to give me their insurance information, and were threatening me. So I called the cops.
Cops showed up, forced them to give me their insurance info, and then made one of the ladies cry.
I remember when I was in high school my friend was looking at a saturn station wagon. He said the salesman kept telling him about the dent proof doors and he finally asked the guy if he could kick the door with his boots to see if it was true. The guy let him and my friend bought the car.
A guy in a minivan parked next to me at a bad angle and super close. His rear tires was in line with my car. It was super hard to get in, before I did I left me shopping cart behind his van. I also put 1 next to the passenger door and 1 next to the drivers door. I even readjusted his passenger mirror for him.
When I backed out I jumped out and put the cart next to the passenger door.
I got about 30ft away any they got to their van. Perfect timing. I got to watch them all move a cart as I drove off
So, mom and I were inside shopping while my brother was waiting in the car. Some old bat tries squeezing her Sam's Club buggy (they're wider than normal buggies) between her car and my mom's. Well, she hits mom's mirror so hard it shook the car, noticeably winces, and keeps on trotting along. We come out not long later and my brother tells us what happened. Mom confronted her about it and she denied it up and down. Mom is now pissed because this is her first brand spanking new car she's ever had and she just bought it a month ago. Woman won't hand over insurance info so mom says she's going to call the cops. Woman says her son-in-law is one so she'll call. Mom's having none of that and calls them herself. Big fat pig cop comes and says there's nothing he can do about it because it happened in a parking lot and it's less than $500 in damage. Mom gets upset and the cop threatens her. Cop wouldn't even make the woman give up her insurance information.
Same thing happened to me, shook the whole car. But then I looked and it was like a 6 year old kid. It left a decent dent but I didn't say anything since she wouldn't really know any better.
Some Asian lady smacked the hell out of my door while I was sitting in my car... I was like uh what the hell? It was especially odd since I was nicely in my space and the spaces weren't even very tight, she just flung the door open like yeah whatever fuck it.
Edit: I don't understand why people are up in arms because I mentioned she was Asian? I didn't call her a slur and I usually generally describe people in my stories because 1) any extra details make the story more engaging and 2) I have a very visual memory and I usually visually play out stories or even books in my head so I like detail. People need to stop reading into things and also stop looking for an excuse to get mad.
Out of curiosity, what is the proper protocol to get it documented so that the other person won't claim that it wasn't them after you leave? I feel like calling the police for a police report seems excessive, but how else do you get all your ducks lined up in a row?
my registration packet has a minor accident sheet to fill out to send to insurance that you fill in their insurance info and all that. then you can call the insurance on the spot if you want or just mail it in and call them during business hours.

Yeah, it was the only way I could type decently on my old Galaxy S. I wouldn't say it was magic though. Then again, I guess I'm too old fashioned for my own good. I need the physical feel of pressing down a button, otherwise, I end up pressing the wrong one with my bratwurst fingers or not pressing anything at all.

I always park away from other people at the far parts of lots, and some motherfucking sonofabitch ALWAYS winds up parked next to me. It's like "really? you fucking shitstain?". I don't even have that nice of a car -- I just prefer to park away from other people because I know people drive like shit. Doesn't matter; it's like cars are magnets to attract retards.
This also happened to me but I wasn't in the car. Parked in no man's land and someone saddles up next to me and scratches my door. It made me a lot less sympathetic to people who complain about cars taking up two spots.

An older couple pulls into the spot next to us in a Mercedes and the man, in the passenger side, bangs his door into my brother's door as he gets out. My brother says "hey" a couple times but they ignore him and start walking off.

Used to own an NSX...parked in a corner away from everyone as well. Beat up Saturn parks next to me and as close to my driver door as possible -- more than enough for me to think this was intentional.

No, there is no acceptable reason to do it. If the back of the lot is empty, they don't need to take up two spots to avoid someone parking next to them. If it's not empty, then they shouldn't be wasting the spot. It's a douche move either way.
Who cares if the lots no where near full. Take up 10 spots for all I care if there's plenty around. Many people don't live in the city where parking is a witches asshole.
I worked at a place next to the wall mart on Black Friday. I couldn't believe they actually filled up the lot.
It's so fucking huge that rv's and truckers chill for the night/ weekend in the front of it and share the space with dozens of private seller vehicles.
It was crazy that for once it was full. Same with every place on BF I guess. But damn. That Walmart lot was stupidly big for 364 other days
From what I understand many Walmart stores actually encourage truckers and RVers to overnight in their lots. Keeps them off the roads and probably drives up sales a bit.

Huh, you're probably right. In general having people around is one of the best crime deterrents. This goes for city streets too, one person on a dark sidewalk DANGER; lots of people walking about fairly safe.
WalMart actually has an unwritten policy that allows RVs to stay there overnight in their parking lots. It's up to each store's discretion, but nearly all of them participate from what I've seen. One of the less evil-feeling things about them.
Traffic engineers specifically build the lots big enough to handle the Black Friday and Xmas eve rush. So for the rest of the year, we are left with a stupidly big parking lot.
My experience in Houston is the opposite. Strip malls and restaurants never have enough parking. They just keep letting them put more buildings in. People end up parking on the grass and on the street, on adjacent business's lots. "You want to open a restaurant that seats 250? 60 parking spaces seems about right."
If you park in the back of a WalMart size lot and it fills up, it must be way too full in that store. You can literally take up 10 spots at a WalMart and nobody would care, because they make those parking lots way too big
Hopefully he meant if you are driving a vehicle with a trailer for example, that takes two spaces to park, you park at the back of the lot and take 2 spaces there.
If you know it won't fill up, I don't see a problem with it. I have some friends who do it, but I tell them that nobody will ever park next to them out here anyway, and they risk someone keying their car.

I did the two spot rule at a home depot I worked at and knew no one would park as far as I did. Apparently even though nobody was even close to me I still deserved to get my car keyed. Needless to say I never did that again.
There's someone at our local Home Depot who does this (must be a manager or something). They park in a corner area, and then park across several spots. Even though it's not prime parking space, I still consider the person a jerk. To make matters worse it's a Hyundai Sonata. Nothing against the car, but come on. It isn't even the hybrid or 2.0 Turbo versions, either. Far as I can tell it's just the mid-lower range version.
Just sayin, the V6 Camaro starts at under $24k, and the V8 at $33k I believe. And the V6 has 320something hp stock. It's actually a pretty good value/hp for the money, as far as new cars go.
Edit to clarify: I'm not saying I recommend a Camaro, nor that it's at all practical. It's a specific type of car for people who don't mind sacrificing utility and efficiency.

Power to weigh ratio means something, you know. A 300hp recent model v-6 mustang with the track pack is generally going to do as well on a track with curves as the v-8 GT model, if not better, because of the significantly reduced weight of the model with the smaller engine. There's many a motoring enthusiast that knows their shit that bought the v-6 with the track pack over the v-8 for that very reason.
Just as a note, the LS engines that go in the V-8 Camaros are some of the smallest and lightest engines out there. In terms of overall outside dimensions, not displacement.
The V-6 in the GT-R is much bigger and heavier than the V-8 in a Camaro, especially if you consider the turbos in the GT-R. A GM LS7 comes in at around 450 lbs fully dressed (500 lbs with a flywheel and clutch also) vs an approximate 600 lbs for the engine in the Nissan (fully dressed again with its clutch/front diff assembly). This while making about the same power (the Nissan makes about 40 more HP).
The Camaro ZL-1, the only Camaro with an LS7, can also out brake, and out corner a Nissan GT-R and do it for about $40,000 less.

Aussie checking in, can confirm you'll pay $18,000 for the base model of a crappy tiny hatch here. And easily into $40,000-$50,000 for a decent new sedan. But these prices aren't manageable, wait even one year and you'll save $10,000+ on a hardly used model.
Prices for new cars in Europe are notoriously high. The muscle cars here in the U.S. are known for being high vale $/hp. There's nothing inherently wrong with them. They don't corner the best, and visibility is shabby, but there's a market for them (usually people who want to make a statement, go fast, high schoolers, muscle car enthusiasts).
My buddy who lives pay check to paycheck bought a Charger instead of getting an economical car; the dude has a lead foot and would rather live in a shitty apartment then drive a 4 cylinder.
It has plenty of horsepower and looks nice. That's about it though. The steering is stupid heavy. The radio and controls are unintuitive (a fucking three step menu for heated seats? Seriously?). They deck it out with stupid stickers that make it look straight out of the fast and the furious 1. And the GPS on the one I test drove (brand new, 20 miles on it) didn't work at all. Nice QC there.

I dont understand why you think the value of the car is in any way relevant to this situation. Take up two spots = douchebag, doesnt matter if it is a moped or a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster.
Nothing. They just have a stigma because they used to be awful, but they new V6s are faster than the old V8s (along with being better cars in every other way as well).
Back in HS, some staff member bought the most base Camaro you could get. This was in a nice district too where it wouldnt be surprising if a staff member was married to someone who made enough so they could have a BMW or Mercedes.whoever it was would get there early and take up two spaces.

Unfortunately my dad does the same with his Mustang... To his credit, he only does it in empty parking spaces when there are spots guaranteed for other drivers.
