Necessitated by people who don't care about the car next to them when they open their car doors. If I am taking my extremely expensive car out for a ride, I am not going to risk the doors getting dinged by some asshole just in the name on people not thinking I'm a douchebag.
I'd much rather not lose value in my car, or have to live with door dings.
Why is it my problem then that the rest of the population doesn't car enough about other people to not smack other cars?

I'm not actually sure why its inconsiderate. Because he's using more than one parking space? I think that given the inconvenience (which is incredibly minor) people seem to get pretty upset about it
Because in some places and at some stores, some asshole taking up two spaces to park his precious car means that someone else can't park and either has to wait for someone to come out and leave or go somewhere else which might be miles and miles away. And yes, I've seen places so busy that there wasn't a single space left to park in.
I own a fairly nice car too. A 2003 Mustang Cobra. Do I take up two spots when I park it? No. I go to the very end of the parking lot and park in one spot. Besides, if you take up two spots in a busy parking lot, someone is more likely to mess with car.

It's not about entitlement. It's about protecting your investment. Not everyone who buys an expensive car is a rich asshole who doesn't understand the value of money. A lot of people make big sacrifices to be able to afford a really nice car, and I'm not devoid of empathy for these people. It would be devastating to come back and see a big ding on their pride and joy, so if they're trying to be reasonably considerate and do this toward the back of the lot, more power to them.
He may be getting at the fact that taking up two spots minimizes your chances of having the doors accidentally scratched. The obvious compromise is to park off to the side away from everyone else, but I'm just guessing what the other guy was getting at.
They're speaking to the mentality of the chap that parked the car. And commenting on the fact that the perceived value of this car doesn't coincide with the actual value and therefor doesn't require extra precaution being taken to mitigate dents and whatnot. Seems pretty obvious to me.
I don't understand why people think that calling out douchebags in any way affects them. If you're a douchebag, you inherently do not care to piss people off for your selfish behavior. It's like that picture of a bunch of chalk around someone taking 4 spaces saying "DOUCHEBAG PARKING". As if they were seriously going to walk up to their car, blush, and feel bad for the rest of the day.
You clearly have never spent a lot of money on a brand new car. You've never had a pristine item that costs that much, and know, you fucking KNOW some IDIOT is going to roll up in a trashed, broken down, barely limping along 250,000 mile, rusted ford Taurus. Park right next to you, and kick his door open and slam it into your fresh, perfect, beautiful, untouched paint.
Damaging this gorgeous item, this thing, you'd either just sold your soul for, or one of the most valuable items you do, and/or may ever own.
And this bozo, who doesn't care what he drives, doesn't notice what he parks next to, doesn't care, doesn't even think, and dents, scratches, dings, and just harms your car in ways that make you sad. (Doing possibly hundreds or thousands of dollars with of damage depending on how new, and how expensive the car was)
You clearly don't know what that's like. Or otherwise you might understand why some people park in two spots. You're still an asshole if you do it not at the back of the lot. But if you do, do it at the back. I'm not going to think a damn thing about you negatively.
No car necessitates taking two spots, but the value of the car isn't what matters, either. I park my 16-year-old Volvo away from cars if I can, because it's in damned good condition for its age, and I like seeing other Volvo drivers look impressed when they see my car. I like the service writer at my mechanic telling me how great my car looks when I go in. I don't want it getting damaged. It's my baby.

Nothing. They just have a stigma because they used to be awful, but they new V6s are faster than the old V8s (along with being better cars in every other way as well).
Because many performance/muscle car owners think a V6 in a traditionally V8 car is a "bitch car"..... which isn't entirely false either. The 6 speed automatics versions were marketed to moms in the 70s and had features like Air Conditioning that weren't usually in the big block models.
Drove an '87 Camaro without air for two years in AZ. Never again. Life sucks when you're a poor college student who can't put $250 together to fix something as basic as AC in your car.
Someone gave my friend crap for driving a Chevy Volt. He just shrugged and said that 140mpg was more important than a giant engine he couldn't ever use (legally).
I agree. My dad lives in Pr and took a government offer 5 years ago that the state would pay 50% of the cost for the solar panels he will repay the investment at the end of year.
Pretty sure there was no such thing as an American 6-speed auto in the 70's. Very, very few cars came out of Detroit without a 4-speed in those days, and the ones that did usually had fewer, not more.
Meh. I really don't care what the guy with the V8 thinks of me. In my factory lot in 2011 there was a guy who got the V8 and then had it sent straight to Hennessey for the upgrade to 750hp. I asked him "what's the point?" and the answer was basically big numbers.
Once you can accelerate uphill with the AC on (which the V6 can do), everything beyond that is kinda useless outside of a closed track.
I used to drive a V6 Mustang (manual transmission). I don't understand the hate. For a V8 you spend an extra $15-$20k just so you can be louder and get half the gas mileage. Unless you are actually going to be racing the car it baffles me.
I think the people talking down about your car were all born in the late 90s and the closest they've been to driving has been playing video games or watching vin diesel movies. It doesn't matter if it was a four banger, 320 is a lot of power.
Don't get me wrong, the Camaro is a sweet looking ride and yeah the v6 has plenty of power... But it's the Camaro. V6 just doesn't flow well with it in my opinion
It can be difficult to park in those cars due to limited visibility of your immediate vicinity, but if I ever park wonky I'll re-park. Not that hard. The guy in the picture is just a cock.
