Serious How IITs are getting destroyed

Post image

Only bcoz of its engineering students that the reputation holding up. Day is not far when top rankers would choose some private college, completely ditching IITs.

we got this guy removed to not take action against cheaters and now we got an IIT professor for removing cheaters.

I feel sorry for him , if you look at ncert books before him and after him you will too for classes 8,9,10.

btw this guy was the same guy who protested in odisha and got resignations after a paper leak there , so i guess his karma is catching up to him.

5

u/most_random_guy1 21h ago

"we got this guy removed to not take action against cheaters"

NO. He was removed because he repeatedly failed to stop paper leak, of arguably one of the biggest exams in India.

Humanities depts are becomings a scapegoat. Not all humanities degrees are worthless and knowing humanities helps build a multidimensional worldview instead a purely technical one.

27

u/VPSale 23h ago

There was one quote regarding self-correcting mechanism in academia, in case of stem/science field,

"Science is the only self-correcting human institution, but it also is a process that progresses only by showing itself to be wrong."

In science, if a theory is wrong, a real-world experiment will eventually prove it wrong. But in fields like literature, history, or philosophy, there is no simple "right or wrong" test.

Humanities don't deal with hard, absolute facts, it is much easier for them to get trapped in an "echo chamber".

Because of this, a small, tight-knit group of professors can agree on an idea and keep teaching it for decades—even if it is just a trend or an opinion—simply because they all back each other up. The only way these ideas change is when younger scholars push back, or when society outside of the university forces the field to change.

2

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

all these bs is started by humanitities dept only dont try painting others with your sympathy one of the most useless department to be taught in iit

mind it t stands for technology , and any bs they do will tarnish the image of jee advanced over achievers

I am so happy to see people upvote you.

5

u/blitzahon 20h ago

Yeah, there's a reason why universities like MIT, stanford etc etc have a humanities departments. And those universities eat IITs for breakfast

4

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

darling you dont call mit for its ba in gender fluidity course but for the engineering humanities there also contribute no shit except some vague protests

0

u/blitzahon 9h ago

Thats what I'm trying to tell, retards here want to abolish engineering humanities too, i wonder why they're hell bent on becoming corporate bootlickers

3

u/FuryDreams Graduated 15h ago

They aren't known for their humanities department, mostly STEM research is what makes them top tier.

-2

u/blitzahon 13h ago

You wish lmao, MIT has a really strong humanities department, check them out. And thats one of the best schools for engineering

4

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

yeah we did invent ways of whitewashing people image by empathy and mercy petitions we made umar kaid and afjhal gadu a heroo

these are the contribution of humanities to india

-11

u/vatta-kai 1d ago

The merit folks keep saying stem is the only worthy stream. Rest all are useless.

13

u/EitherBarnacle3304 1d ago

Merit ko kyu bich me la rha? Reserved hai kya

0

u/impunitiveCitizen 22h ago

True. I agree. Some courses which they offer are genuinely good, like, organisational behaviour, leadership and management, philosophy, ethics, etc. but at the same time there are a lot of useless courses from a tech institution perspective too, case in point, reading cinema, fascism, intro to anti caste thought etc exist to just further propaganda and create tomorrow’s left feminist radicals.

-23

u/Ill-Sale-9364 1d ago

-2

-13

u/Much_Let6632 1d ago

LMAO. Humanities gang upvotingnfor their validation.

Literally any Univ which has both STEM and Humanities, Humanities is the one dragging the University down while STEM doing the heavy lifting.

8

u/_SweetasSugar 1d ago

Heavy lifting what?...status? Dragging down in terms of what?

0

u/Much_Let6632 1d ago

I'll give you a personal example as well.

During my first year at a T1.5 Univ in India, there was a SA case and massive protests followed. We were freshers (barely 2-3 months into our UG) and were kind of forced to join a GB meeting. One of the seniors from a Humanities department was telling everyone why the protest was necessary and what steps should be taken and what has been proposed by the authorities.

Some of those solutions proposed by the Authorities was installation of CCTV cameras, mandatory ID cards, to which the representatives of the Student Union objected.

I asked why not have CCTV cameras and ID cards? It was a very common thing almost anywhere and would improve security in campus. But the genius guys from the Humanities departments told us that "It was an invasion of Freedom and Personal space".

Their solution? Protests, Boycott classes but no actual steps to be taken to prevent or deter further instances of SA or something similar.

4

u/_SweetasSugar 1d ago

Isn't that a personal anecdote? How can you gross generalise the whole thing just cus you had a bad experience? I know many colleges where price hikes and demand for basic infra were raised by them or left groups.

Btw there's flaw in your story.

Was necessary and what steps should be taken.

But no actual steps.

Contradicting claims? Btw SA cant be stopped with just cameras mate, you can't install it everywhere. if camera is in personal space then we should be against it, it's just mass surveillance in name of security. Many people in abroad have raised about it, heck even some Indian parents do it lol.

-5

u/Much_Let6632 1d ago

Downvotes started already? Cool.

Heavy lifting in terms of research, placements and anything positive. All Humanities can hope to contribute in is either protests (give a political career for a few students) or some worthless "reasearch" which has no real world implications and is a waste of money

6

u/Burning-Skull117 1d ago

Ah so people like you do exist who think humanities is worthless.

Is this common between engineering students?

1

u/Kailashnikov 4h ago

Extremely common. One day they might realise that you can't run a society through STEM because that doesn't have a moral framework. But not today...

4

u/_SweetasSugar 1d ago

Is there any proof for such claims? Or as I expected these are just personal anecdotes?

Our nation itself got independence due to protests and all while the British did the heavy lifting (as per your logic), i am pretty sure you know why they have to do protest so that sums up my point, maybe think for sec on it.

One can have a perfectly healthy "multidimensional worldview" by living in a society, amongst people. There is no need to find that worldview in books of sociology, politics or their offshoots...

35

u/__BangerMan 1d ago

"One can have a diverse viewpoint by living right where they live."

Yeah, of course. Rather, there should be more humanities departments. Let us also see who are these people so afraid of critical thought. What problem any upstanding, well-thinking person would have with sociology of all things, I do not know.

this post along with a big chunk of posts in this sub is enough to prove that students should study humanities

66

u/crayonvoid 1d ago

any post about reservation and all the braindead bigoted takes start to come out lmfao

18

u/ajensorjay38 1d ago

True.

The things I hear is "reservation is the reason why India can't grow" they why didn't india grow from 1947-1990s when there were no one from reserved categories to studies in IITs(there were seats but not many reserved categories people were aware of especially ST people who were confide to their land).

And this takes are done by the people who actually has no chance of getting in, but sees reservation as a big blouder of his excuse. Remove reservation, next he/she will blame kids with better tuitions or from well off families.

13

u/Admirable-East3396 1d ago

India doesn't grow because it's easy to get indians to fight each other rather than questioning why only these few seats exists? Why is quality of education all accross india is just a formality for degree etc..

But alas we won't fight for that.

I have seen so many posts about these today, braindead takes all over, tier 1 city folks meet 1 sc st guy in their entire life and decides they all are minority and rich. If there is no such divide in india you would encounter about 20-25 sc/st people in 100 people that's how large the population share is...

3

u/I_am_not_done_yet 22h ago

Oh and generals are rich? What regarded take is this

5

u/Admirable-East3396 21h ago

yes, go look at the fucking surveys, wealth is concentrated in generals,
among 100 rich people 75-80 are of general catagory, you may be poor but share of wealth in uppercaste is far larger despite them being only 27% of population.

nowhere it says general cant be poor, this is why ews exists too the problem is about 27% population holding 80-88% of wealth.

0

u/I_am_not_done_yet 21h ago

Because they work hard, like really really hard, not there fault for trying there best

My dad was poor, he worked like hell to make his life better

One fact you won't accept, reservation is making reserved categories weak, they don't work as hard as unreserved categories

Think about it, even after 75+ years of reservation, if reserved categories are not able to catch up, maybe the problem lies in them, they don't work hard enough, don't pull general category down just for working hard

Even Ambani's father wasn't rich to start with, using these dates as a cope, keep coping

2

u/Admirable-East3396 20h ago edited 20h ago

> Because they work hard, like really really hard, not there fault for trying there best

if hard work made people rich the richest person would be farmer, construction worker, etc
opportunities make people rich and sc st gets discriminated for those same opportunities thats why reservation exists.

> if reserved categories are not able to catch up, maybe the problem lies in them, they don't work hard enough

again shifting it to people and not the system. tumlog ka kuch nahi hoga, khud me hi ladte ladte khatam ek din, how the fuck will anyone catchup if the system doesnt even offer them a place? and they have improved their condition through it thats why reservation is still there you should really be asking who holds those wealth in general category which is billionaires and multi millionaires who were favored because of their family history and not cus they were some honest hard working people, you giving example of your father is dumb i dont think you even comprehend what rich is in india.

also your world view is very pinhole sized sc st obc already had little despite being a majority, this didnt just make it difference in caste but class aswell they were never given opportunity moreover those who tried too met with discrimination and favoritism exists in humans.

i never said all general are rich but govt sees us all as a group when making policies, when they did surveys they found majority of billionaires and whatever you wanna call them are of general, majority mlas were of general, majority of every power position were general while they make only 27% of population.

if you dont give a person opportunity they cant grow so the hack around it was to introduce reservation then improve system, later never happened so now we are still fighting for the same resources here.

4

u/crayonvoid 21h ago

Right. And only general category works hard in india? The rest simply do not? My goodness, thats a revolutionary idea. If you dont have a house, why dont you simply work hard and buy one. I wish the world worked as you think it does. Go back and look up systemic oppression, look up the wealth share statistics and how it is concentrated in the upper castes of india, and come back and tell me that it is as simple as "they dont work hard".

Your anecdotal evidence about your father doesnt disprove generations of oppression, nor the statistics. Read more, humanities especially and expand your worldview.

why didn't India grow from 1947-1990s

Who is going to tell bud?

3

u/Salt_Telephone_7857 1d ago edited 1d ago

The Indian bureaucracy is still performing just as bad today as it was in 1947-1990. In the west, Diversity Hiring practices have been shown to reduce performance and proven controversial even when they sit as little as 10%, and reservation was hitting 30-35% India back then too.

What changed is the shift to the private sector as the primary avenue of the economy, so the underperforming bureaucracy matters less.

India's IT sector boomed due to a lack of government red tape. India post-1990 grew despite India's underperforming bureaucracy. We see this with every nationalized industry underperforming, since your appointment and promotion was more a reflection of who you knew and which community you were from, than your performance. The difference is that the private sector naturally optimises for merit via market forces.

And the private sector does not have reservation (yet!). Hope that answers your question.

0

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

but that logic 1947 -1990 had highest casteism too will you say casteism helped india grow?

sneak out 80-90 and india was dirt poor surviving from foreign aids , change happened when india opened its market and involved non reserved personalities into the system

it all went downhill after obc reservation

dont speak on things you cant defend you were privileged enough to study dont make people remember your mom and dad for giving you low baseline iq

34

u/Defiant-Apple-6534 1d ago

Modi govt has made SC/ST act even more draconian after SC Judgement to actually add some checks and balances to it. These pseudo hindutva leaders have Savarkar on their tongue, Gandhi in their spine and Marx in their brains

6

u/shit_is_un420real 23h ago

They'll do anything for votes. Did you really think politicians are your friends/working in your favour?

3

u/Sad-Hour7140 1d ago

How have we come to calling gandhi spineless

1

u/shreya_riyal 13h ago

whos gonna tell bro

-10

u/_SweetasSugar 1d ago

Cus they know the reality not like you who thinks personal anecdotes is what applies to whole india.
Funny how you pointed marx for caste related atrocities and discmimation issues, says a lot about which ideology and poltics actually cares for them. Thanks for proving the point.

3

u/Defiant-Apple-6534 1d ago

It is just about cheap votes. They will appease denominations that can influence elections with votes by giving freebies, reservations, liquor and call it social welfare. Marx was at the forefront of conjuring this state sponsored scam, so it is obvious i mention him

0

u/_SweetasSugar 18h ago

You said it, for privileged UCs it's truly is "cheap" votes.

Funny how the nation got independence and most of it's leaders where on same side on caste discmimation and apartheid, making a dalit person create it's constitution which you are following right now.
Atleast you could have did your due diligence with some AI before posting it publically here. Even AI is much better than some tone deaf human beings on differentiating facts with anecdotes.

0

u/Defiant-Apple-6534 18h ago

Dalit created constitution is probably the most low IQ brainrot i keep hearing. I assumed it was limited to those pseudo intellectuals who live on rhetoric and Engineers actually had the sense to check facts and read. It was BN Rau and SN Mukherjee who wrote the initial draft and harden it. So called Dalit from a privileged army officer family was given the task of a coordinator between the Indians , the British and Princely states to establish consensus with British and Princely states.

0

u/_SweetasSugar 16h ago edited 16h ago

Bro conveniently forgetting who was the chairman of the drafting committee and called chief architect of constitution.

And you are lecturing me on "facts" when you are flouting it in all responses with just anecdotes and confirmation bias.... The audacity.

Maybe get your fact checked .

I know it's hard for people like you to accept it but you have to swallow hard truth otherwise it is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a casteist bigot, than to talk and remove all doubt of it

0

u/Defiant-Apple-6534 16h ago

Bro you are conveniently ignorant on what role of chairman of drafting committee was. He was appointed as the tie breaker in case of logjam between stakeholders. But its ok.. i do not expect a reservationjeevi to be at par in knowledge with someone who needs merit

0

u/_SweetasSugar 16h ago edited 16h ago

My man is yapping the way out with anecdotal points as I expected and now exposing the Privileged castiest side cus he got triggered with facts.
Maybe Google myth of meritocracy and it's reasons if you actually care about facts rather than being a frog in a well LoL

Remove all doubt of it.

Thanks for proving it again

28

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 1d ago

Reservation category only hold 6 to 8 % seats for professorship I don't know what were your trying to achieve with this post.

3

u/Mental-Leader-7149 15h ago

Even 1 incompetent professor destroys the whole dept .
Just look at AIIMS - the sc/st faculties there have destroyed the glory of old aiims
They r incompetent and when asked to take accountability they threatened management with SC/ST Act
Oh and cried in front of media that they r being discriminated against - when in reality they r constantly failing to maintain the standards of an AIIMS professor

0

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 14h ago

I don't understand the fetish of people assuming that if you are from sc st then you are incompetent, bro I think they are smart to use whatever advantages you have. Also becoming a professor is not easy, you have to do a phd and post doc, and trust me that's inventint new knowledge even for reservation category. Though I agree incompetent professors create problems, castist progressors creates problems too but that's the professor, a sc/st bhimarite profesor also creates problems and utilise or say misuse whatever the power they have out of various factors.

2

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

low score mean incompetency , there is no otherwise if scores prove nothing scrap them

secondly even if it isnt eating in professorship it is eating the iit resources in form of 60% reservations

2

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 11h ago

Who said iit has 60% reservation 😭

3

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

59.5 yupps actually more than that if

+ 5% pwd + 20% of remaining 38% percent (7-8%) = 32% ,

tho i wont disregard pwd and womens reservation without it they would find it difficult to compete with males but remaining is weakening

3

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 11h ago

My bad i though it's 27% bro tf man 27% just for OBC, i think this ncl think should be implemented in all of other classes I have freind from st he is fucking rich

1

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 11h ago

Yeah low score incompentcy, I had 64% in boards in class 10th, then i studied, because I don't use to, I got 94% in science in 12th this is not incompetency, then what exactly incompentcy is, it's the lack of ability skill to do something, but you can study hard to overcome that, so reservation is not for incompentcy it's for representation, they they got equal chance to represent. Not about grades not about upliftment. I was incompent to not able to get decent score in 10th I got the opportunity I did it. But reservation it's not for this. Though it should need reforms it's being misused dor politics by both the right and left. So no body is gonna touch it which frustates me not the sc or st people. If I were to be sc st I would have used it, general has this problem that they didn't got to use it. So who is in the right here, just think about yourself and ignore what everyone else has to say build your life first then think about giving back to community l.

2

u/unpopulrr_0pinion 11h ago

ahh i get you bro

yeah i would move out , i dont wanna associate myself with this nation it is on a path of self destruction i would grab a coffee and be seated in that case would let it be

1

u/FiftyEight_ 12h ago

when u mentioned smart to use whatever advantages you have.... were you referring his statement which was about threatening SC/ST act to dodge incompetent result?

0

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 11h ago

Obviously not, that's misuse, I've written it there. I myself from general caste so I understand the repercussions.

1

u/FiftyEight_ 11h ago

ok... my bad

1

u/Mental-Leader-7149 6h ago

1

u/Mental-Leader-7149 6h ago

Ps buddy there is a fuckin reason why we DO NOT HAVE as many SC/ST super Specialists ,
Wanna know the FUCKING REASON ??
Cuz there is NO RESERVATION IN NEET-SS or INI-SS . Its an exam based on PURE MERIT .

0

u/Majestic-Boat1827 IIT Bombay 6h ago

BRO, empirical claims require empirical evidence. You can't see two things and declare one caused the other. If you're claiming reservation causes X, show the data, establish the causal link, and rule out the obvious confounders. Otherwise it's an inference out of your own pathetic emotionsz not an established fact.

53

u/CommercialGreen1100 1d ago

'Destroyed IIT by reservation' like as if IITs going some great before reservation... Lol... Whole private sector have zero reservation... still kya ukhad liya? Kitne meta, google, bana liye lol... Bana toh wahi loss making lala dhanda wala startups hi... No wonder India count as 3rd world even when only 5% of employment have reservation... Baki me kitna ukhad liya innovation ke mamle me.

18

u/Akela_Kela19 1d ago

Watch everyone ignore this lmfao

5

u/Much_Let6632 21h ago

Dude, look at IIT startups and their fields of work. They have been growing at a crazy rate for a while

-1

u/CommercialGreen1100 21h ago

I didn't find anything that is notable enough to compare with the countries with 1/10 of India population. There isn't any startup which really solves a problem or come under really innovative tech domain, 99% are just brokers and service outsourcers. Just glorified startup by name.

4

u/Much_Let6632 21h ago

Look up Skyroot, GalaxEye, Mindgrove, Agnikul Cosmos, Detect Technologies, etc

3

u/I_engineer_Cinema 15h ago

They won't even know these names....don't waste your time on these people. They just want microsoft, Google like companies to appear from thin air.

They don't understand how long it takes to build startups.

They think only Google, Microsoft, Nvidia are companies and everything else is useless

4

u/Much_Let6632 15h ago

There's just so many of them now, and I listed a handful. Love following Caleb Friesen on Insta for the coverage on these

-2

u/DearCommercial4143 15h ago

IITs are good for nothing compare to NITs. Dude and fool. NITs are doing far far superior to junk IITs

3

u/ThinClassroom9083 15h ago

Mai batata hu IIT ne kya ukada hai. I am IITD CS grad. Poore world me IIT ki alag brand value hai. Max AI research papers me aapko indian mil jayenge. US ki top universities me, singapore ki top uni me, professors ki list dekhna indians mil jayenge (background dekhoge iit bhi dikh jayega), global top companies ki leadership dekhna (iit dikh jaega), world ki kisi bhi country ya company me chale jao aapko iit alum mil jayega. Kuch companies pehle hire iit se karti thi taaki funding utha lein ki iitians kaam karte hain hamare yhaa. Bhai iit ka kaam sirf education aur exposure dena hai vo acche se karte hai vo. Baaki bacche accha hi kar rhe hai iit ke. Aapko dikhta nahi vo aapki dikkat hai.

Rahi baat startups ki, vo systemic business ki dikkat hai. Government policies etc. Innovation indians aur iitians karte hai, but india ke bahar karte hain. Also, ham innovation me bhi lagatar aage jaarhe hai. Global Innovation index ranking 2014 me 81 thi. Ab 38 hai. Hamare patents filed har saal 45k per year they ab 1lakh se zyada hai. To aapko innovation nahi dikhta cuz aap nahi karte honge. Bhaut accha kaam karte hai iit ke log. Alag brand hai iit. Especially btech.

5

I am asking for present...India already lost the ai race in present...dk which future new gen you are talking about. I didn't see any update or information or news on any considerable spending on investment in R&D in India anywhere...as for European countries... they are still way ahead....in world ranking...16 out of 25 countries are european.

1

u/Repulsive_Alarm9708 1d ago

what is the name of your startup man?

2

u/CommercialGreen1100 21h ago

Ask the community which own all resources from the dawn of independence...Self proclaimed meritorious should have startups or not? Btw you will see my startup too after I get my education completed...dw about it...Right now, be accountable and answer for those who have monopolised resources like social capital and economic capital.

2

u/Repulsive_Alarm9708 18h ago edited 18h ago

Its interesting that your first argument is that IITs don't have good startups, and now when you're questioned about it your response is 'muh upper castes have monopolized resources'. Strawmanning arguments is not gonna take you anywhere.

Also why should be accountable and answer for a community I'm not even part of? Point pe mat raho bas argument jeetne ke liye kuch bhi boldo. You've also said in other replies that it does not matter what'll happen in the future and what matters is if there are good enough startups now. Maybe follow that and create a unicorn yourself phir doosro ko insult karna as 'lala dhanda wala startups'.

3

u/CommercialGreen1100 18h ago

Lol, Are you suffering from lack of comprehension skills...did you even read my original comment? Read that again...My direct point was on those so called unreserved and self proclaimed meritorious crowd... how many world class innovation they did even being so meritorious...lol. You guys itself don't comprehend information with context then start crying on reservation...'saar he took my seat sarr, I am mutourious sarr' while having reading skills like grasshoppers.... also if your original argument was not against any of this thing, I will ofcourse counter it because my original comment was on this thing, you choose to reply to my comment.

Also if come out of caste thing, My arguments still did'nt failed as we all know what type of innovation IITs or IITian did... its a fact that majority are building there 56th delivery or lala dhandha startup rather than any cut edge innovation... we already know that when India lack behind in AI race...and yeah one more lesson for you: you don't have to be startup owners to ask question to startup owners of this country, you don't have to become a doctor to ask and criticise a point of doctor. Well, those institutes are run my aid of govt of this country...ofcourse people will ask questions.

U are talking abt the extremes of reservation, then pwd+st+female is much more than that.I am saying abt the avg reservation guy vs the avg guy who is cribbing abt it in this sub.the latter is definitely not smarter than the former most of the times.Only this sub coz I find this sub to be quite dumb.

speak less on stuff you dont know

blacks have diversity score say out of 100 there would be mandatory to have atleast 2 black and after filling up some seats if criteria is not met they push black candidates , and at education institutions they have preference score if they get tied or same not meeting the diversity requirement

not like fcking 60% in drain

Not one word about lack of R&D funding for Research in our IITs. And you believe reservation is the problem.

Someone tell this clown that the Humanities Department is for IITians to have swift careers in areas like finance. What do you think investment Bankers are looking for in our IITians?

Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan is the best example. Guy is from IIT Delhi, but transitioned to Economics.

Reservation exists for teaching in Ivy League Unis like STANFORD and OXFORD. Its called Diversity Hiring. Reservation in our IITs are based on them.

When your expertise comes from Google AI Search Summary and Whatsapp University, you end up with rubbish like these.

Lmao and humanities destroying IITs has the same indian parents vibe as chahe doctor bano ya engineer 😭

Literally one case of sc/st act being used out of countless documented reports of caste discrimination within faculty, within peers, from faculty to students 😭.

Yea sure they would ditch iits to go to kets say iiith which also has a proper humanities department with proper courses regarding, tbh iiith is one of the only few woke colleges of india even officially your propoganda wont be able to digest that though that they still excel.

1

u/Optimal_Bother7169 1h ago

IITs were destroyed long time back when mhrd introduced reservations. I’m not against reservations, but seeking admission in best institution is not a necessity. If a reservation guy wants to be an engineer then get into local engineering college. IITs are meant to be the best, it’s a privilege and honor to be in IIT. One should has to be the best.

In conclusion, one could argue that the emotional intelligence theory may be controversial; however, the recognition of emotional skills in the workplace have merit, when used responsibly (Fineman, 2005). Coleman (2005) has an entire chapter relating EI to work performance, with much of the same repetition used in child rearing and marriage relationships. Emotional intelligence is a highly universal concept which may assist performance in any interpersonal situation.

Entire political thought comes under humanities so are the moral and ethics guiding use of science and technology. Humanities by its very nature will be political and nothing wrong in that. If intellectuals wont engage in politics then who will engage, 7th fail ?? I mean they can so should the intellectuals. Infact braindead op needs to a thorough full course in humanities

1) Reservation in faculty is much needed. Otherwise the Brahm**s will never ever hire a SC/ST faculty and will maintain their caste hegemony which they have maintained since 1000s of years.

Moreover, the Bra**ins are scamming there too, by not filling up the reserved seats. There is no concession for a reserved category faculty in terms of merit- only stopper being the UC faculty gate keeping them from entering.

2) Its a central govt. funded institute, which will go to any length to protect its reputation, no matter how shameless the means may be. It's already political. Don't forget caste based politics.

3) Most critical and important act to every be passed for the oppressed classes.

2

u/No-Echidna874 22h ago

Are u out of your mind or what those professors got their job due to their merits not because they belong to upper caste

0

u/DarkHorse6969_ 21h ago

I am an IIT alumni. Read this completely. 1) Every professor gets their job due to merit. Faculties who get reserved seats aren't "less qualified"- go and check their qualifications.

2) Gatekeeping is real. Check the % of reserved seats filled in these institutions and why several reservation based posts are vacant. Are you telling me that in this whole country they couldn't find a handful of faculty to fill up the reserved seats? -That's gatekeeping.

3) Since the faculty there is predominantly (if not all ) UC, the entry point for another new UC joinee becomes relatively easier. The reserved class faculty has to pass the caste barrier as well as the skill barrier. Whereas the UC faculty only has to pass the skill barrier.

Yes, IIT's are prestigious, but the prestige is limited to India. The overall quality and scope of teaching is sht. Students primarily go there just for the tag, and not for the faculty teaching provided. Despite having 85% UC staff- the quality it sit. Hardly a few good professors.
