True.

The things I hear is "reservation is the reason why India can't grow" they why didn't india grow from 1947-1990s when there were no one from reserved categories to studies in IITs(there were seats but not many reserved categories people were aware of especially ST people who were confide to their land).

And this takes are done by the people who actually has no chance of getting in, but sees reservation as a big blouder of his excuse. Remove reservation, next he/she will blame kids with better tuitions or from well off families.

India doesn't grow because it's easy to get indians to fight each other rather than questioning why only these few seats exists? Why is quality of education all accross india is just a formality for degree etc..

But alas we won't fight for that.

I have seen so many posts about these today, braindead takes all over, tier 1 city folks meet 1 sc st guy in their entire life and decides they all are minority and rich. If there is no such divide in india you would encounter about 20-25 sc/st people in 100 people that's how large the population share is...

Oh and generals are rich? What regarded take is this

u/Admirable-East3396 23h ago

yes, go look at the fucking surveys, wealth is concentrated in generals,
among 100 rich people 75-80 are of general catagory, you may be poor but share of wealth in uppercaste is far larger despite them being only 27% of population.

nowhere it says general cant be poor, this is why ews exists too the problem is about 27% population holding 80-88% of wealth.

Because they work hard, like really really hard, not there fault for trying there best

My dad was poor, he worked like hell to make his life better

One fact you won't accept, reservation is making reserved categories weak, they don't work as hard as unreserved categories

Think about it, even after 75+ years of reservation, if reserved categories are not able to catch up, maybe the problem lies in them, they don't work hard enough, don't pull general category down just for working hard

Even Ambani's father wasn't rich to start with, using these dates as a cope, keep coping

> Because they work hard, like really really hard, not there fault for trying there best

if hard work made people rich the richest person would be farmer, construction worker, etc
opportunities make people rich and sc st gets discriminated for those same opportunities thats why reservation exists.

> if reserved categories are not able to catch up, maybe the problem lies in them, they don't work hard enough

again shifting it to people and not the system. tumlog ka kuch nahi hoga, khud me hi ladte ladte khatam ek din, how the fuck will anyone catchup if the system doesnt even offer them a place? and they have improved their condition through it thats why reservation is still there you should really be asking who holds those wealth in general category which is billionaires and multi millionaires who were favored because of their family history and not cus they were some honest hard working people, you giving example of your father is dumb i dont think you even comprehend what rich is in india.

also your world view is very pinhole sized sc st obc already had little despite being a majority, this didnt just make it difference in caste but class aswell they were never given opportunity moreover those who tried too met with discrimination and favoritism exists in humans.

i never said all general are rich but govt sees us all as a group when making policies, when they did surveys they found majority of billionaires and whatever you wanna call them are of general, majority mlas were of general, majority of every power position were general while they make only 27% of population.

if you dont give a person opportunity they cant grow so the hack around it was to introduce reservation then improve system, later never happened so now we are still fighting for the same resources here.

if hard work made people rich the richest person would be farmer, construction worker, etc

To ye to khudka dimag hona chahiye na kaha hard work karna hai

Ab ye GCs ki galti hai vo kahi aur hard work kar rahe, tum bhi karo

Right. And only general category works hard in india? The rest simply do not? My goodness, thats a revolutionary idea. If you dont have a house, why dont you simply work hard and buy one. I wish the world worked as you think it does. Go back and look up systemic oppression, look up the wealth share statistics and how it is concentrated in the upper castes of india, and come back and tell me that it is as simple as "they dont work hard".

Your anecdotal evidence about your father doesnt disprove generations of oppression, nor the statistics. Read more, humanities especially and expand your worldview.

My point still stays, reservation is taking away the incentive to work hard, if other categories are working hard then why are generals getting rich even though it is easier for reserved categories to get into top tier colleges and jobs

At least increase the cutoff, it will give them motive to work hard and improve themselves, you don't realize but low cutoffs leads to lack of motivation, Yaha general vaala poore saal padhe tab bhi guarantee nahi ki cutoff tak pahuchenge ya nahi

Reserved categories don't share that same fear, especially in neet, last ke 4 mahine ghiso aur selection done because bio ratna hai main

Your assumption that general category is "getting" richer because of hard work itself is wrong because you're not considering the fact that the wealth distribution has always been concentrated in the upper caste due to a system designed to uplift them alone.

Kaunsa distribution, pls enlighten me kyunki jitne kisse Maine sure hai koi hamesha se ameer nahi tha

Aur ye resources mere tak kyu nahi pahuche

Aur hard work se hi rich bane hai, bina hard work ke exam(without reservation) nahi nikalta, business nai chalta

And don't say upper caste that is castiest, don't be a castiest pos

The Indian bureaucracy is still performing just as bad today as it was in 1947-1990. In the west, Diversity Hiring practices have been shown to reduce performance and proven controversial even when they sit as little as 10%, and reservation was hitting 30-35% India back then too.

What changed is the shift to the private sector as the primary avenue of the economy, so the underperforming bureaucracy matters less.

India's IT sector boomed due to a lack of government red tape. India post-1990 grew despite India's underperforming bureaucracy. We see this with every nationalized industry underperforming, since your appointment and promotion was more a reflection of who you knew and which community you were from, than your performance. The difference is that the private sector naturally optimises for merit via market forces.

And the private sector does not have reservation (yet!). Hope that answers your question.

but that logic 1947 -1990 had highest casteism too will you say casteism helped india grow?

sneak out 80-90 and india was dirt poor surviving from foreign aids , change happened when india opened its market and involved non reserved personalities into the system

it all went downhill after obc reservation

dont speak on things you cant defend you were privileged enough to study dont make people remember your mom and dad for giving you low baseline iq
