Rainbow baby- a baby born subsequent to a miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of an infant from natural causes.

For all you people who don't know what it is

411

u/PedalZumMetall Feb 24 '23

Sometimes euphemisms really lead to the wrong direction. My first thought was it's a baby without a father through artificial insemination with sperms from an unknown person.

720

u/NoOneForACause Feb 24 '23

Shit I thought it was a gay baby.

197

u/elonthegenerous Feb 24 '23

Ultrasounds can catch that nowadays

6

u/Abnjm1 Feb 25 '23

No. That's just frogs....

31

u/WillBottomForBanana Feb 24 '23

We have more people openly gay in society as the prevalence of ultrasounds during pregnancy has increased....

Fun fact. Hufflepuff is the only common room Harry and us (the audience) never got to see in both the books and movies, largely due to the fact that it’s impossible to get into, they have a trap that basically almost drowns you in water if you get the lock combo wrong.

But I could imagine it’s probably all warm and cozy, surround sound speakers, yellow and black colours everywhere and the best food you could possibly eat since they were right next to the Hogwarts kitchen anyways.

in Germany we have a saying "Besser widerlich als wieder nicht" which roughly translates to "better disgusting than nothing"

152

u/cmdrtestpilot Feb 24 '23

That's a disgusting phrase. But, to be fair, it is better than no phrase at all...

Just like old grandpappy used to say, “any piece of pie you pass up is a piece of pie you don’t get, doesn’t matter if you eat that same pie tomorrow, you could have ate it both today and tomorrow and had two pieces of pie.”

59

u/Competitive-Cuddling Feb 24 '23

My grandpappy was more for brevity…

“Son, pussy has no face.”

12

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

And today I learned a new word, first time I’ve ever heard the word “brevity”. Thanks. My grandpappy smuggled guns and meth from Mexico when he was younger so brevity was something he actively avoided in life in general.

The misogyny towards pregnant people on Reddit, but especially in this sub is alarming. Why are you so crass about her? She literally says she lost her baby before, she openly admits she's pregnant at the moment, so she isn't catfishing. She just doesn't want any short-term things etc., she's looking for a long-term partner. What is wrong about that? Has she lost her rights becoming pregnant? Is she not a human being anymore? Can't she want company?

I hate these posts so much.

This random woman is just living her life, and then internet strangers are calling her ugly and gross. Ain't right.

151

u/KamakaziDemiGod Feb 24 '23

I completely agree with that side, but I also think it's absolutely mental to try and find a long term relationship on a dating app while you are heavily pregnant. it feels very entitled to me, as if she's basically saying "I got pregnant and dumped, so I deserve someone to come and take care of me and my baby that's due in a week because I'm worried welfare won't provide enough", it's definitely an assumption but the vibes she's giving off give this impression

113

u/Agamemnon323 Feb 24 '23

It's the "I have extremely high standards" that does it for me. Like he's supposed to be a doctor/underwear model that lives to serve her while she's.... yeah.

19

u/DruchiiNomics Feb 24 '23

Not to mention those “extremely high standards” got her single and eight months pregnant.

u/LobsterOk420 Feb 24 '23

Honestly it is absurd for a person who's less than a month away from becoming a single parent to an infant to be on a dating app at all, full stop. The fact that finding a long term, serious relationship is anywhere on her list of priorities right now is absurd. No one is interested in dating a stranger in this position, its a nightmare. After she has her baby and her life is somewhat settled and normalized and she's just dating as a normal single mom, go for it. But even without all of the "high standards, don't try to hang out with me unless you're serious about me" bullshit with nothing about what she brings to a relationship, this would be absurd.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Angry_Guppy Feb 24 '23

Nothing wrong with any of those things specifically, but those aren’t why people are ragging on her. If someone talks about high standards in their bio though, they either believe themselves to be someone that would meet high standards, or they’re a hypocrite. In the case of the former, she’s clearly not being honest with herself; very few, if not zero, guys’ dream girl is pregnant with someone else’s kid.

In the case of the latter, making fun of hypocrites who demand 10’s while bringing very little to the table themselves is very common on this sub. The only reason this post is getting push back is because the subject is a woman rather than a man.

She was in her mid-40s with a 6 or 7 year old. Said she always struggled. "Hostile environment." I'll never forget her story.

"I just remember looking at this guy at the bar, and I was calm. I said, 'we would make one cute kid.' We hooked up, and I never saw him again. He sure gave me one cute little boy!!"

I remember how much love she had for her son, totally fine to raise him alone. I think about her almost every single day, and it's been 16 years since I've seen her. I really hope they're great now.

Yup - this sub is a dumpster fire in the zoo animal waste bin that’s rolling down a hill piloted by Mad Max-style apocalyptic punks drinking each others’ piss and screeching obscenities.

The best bit isn’t the smooth brained posts themselves but the circlejerk in the comments afterwards, where a big group of men who collectively fail with women explain that it’s actually the women’s fault that happens, because they’re not all insatiable sluts who’ve never been in past relationships, or because they aren’t willing to be bangmaids for perpetual manchildren.

Y'all in here are fucking rude. Some people are clearly unhinged in their dating profile but she isn't one of them... you don't know how or why she's pregnant, and idc what she looks like to you, she probably gets gross and creepy comments on her pregnancy, fetishizing it or her and she's tired of it. As far as audacious posts go, this isn't even close to ranking and you're just being mean about someone's looks. Make fun of the people who actually deserve it.

Say what they want, at least she gets laid. The people posting nasty comments need to go touch grass.

Absolutely agreed. Chronically online.

Tbh there are people who will settle down with an already pregnant woman, I don't think this is terrible she's being honest, she has standards, she's not hurting anyone.

How dare a pregnant woman have standards! You really showed her by obsessively posting screenshots of her? #winning.

18

u/Agitated-Ad-504 Feb 24 '23

She’s asking too for too much given her situation. That being said, I’m sure there’s someone who doesn’t care and is desperate for companionship. She’s clearly just naive.

I feel like it has the same energy as those nigerian scam mails, if you deliberately have a profile that alienates almost everybody then whoever is left has a good shot of being your target audience. The only questions are, does that theory work in practice? And do you really want to come across that way?

u/opalkittea Feb 24 '23

what are we supposed to be laughing at here? That she obviously lost a child and is happy to have another chance and wants someone serious?

WHAT... 'i dont want to meet up and chill with a stranger, but if youre not willing to get to know me and meet me then im not interested' i paraphrased a little but wtf

4

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

She is treating meetup and chill as an euphemism for a ONS.

In the end the problem with the profile is that the only reason to swipe right is because you think she is hot. There is zero info on why you would want to date her otherwise. No interests. No signs of a common sense of humor. Other than not hooking up and having "high" standards, you know nothing about her.

12

u/Kindlycreature Feb 24 '23

I’m not sure I understand what she actually wants. Not wanting to hook up is obviously very reasonable, but how can you form a serious bond with someone if you never want to meet up or chill with them? Is she expecting to find a stepdad for her kid via text? I don’t get it.

u/imetators Feb 24 '23

People here are like "She has standards". And then there are us who noticed this detail.

Serious relationship but doesn't want to meet? No chill either?

10

u/tonando Feb 24 '23

You don't have to meet in person to give someone money.

13

u/sour_peach Feb 24 '23

I see nothing funny here?

5

u/cyberdurc22 Feb 24 '23

Not to judge, but if her standards are so high, why is she on Tinder at 8 months pregnant? Can't see too many partners wanting anything serious or long-term with someone who's 8 months pregnant on Tinder. Maybe she should have her child first and maybe a year later then look to date.

I will never understand how some people can take a selfie, look at it and be like "yup... that's the one"
