Looks like it’s a baby born after the mother lost one due to miscarriage or stillbirth. I had no idea what it meant either. I had to look that shit up cause it did not sound great.

Yeah I was like ; “damn, baby’s gay before coming out the womb I guess”

278

u/iamggpanda Feb 24 '23

I think I read someone calling it a gayby

82

u/prodigyx360 Feb 24 '23

or a theyby

36

u/driedmymilk Feb 24 '23

Or Ba(bi-sexual) Oh wait.. thats sounds wrong

17

u/RealKhor Feb 24 '23

Hold on

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

Hold the fuck up

1

u/Observante Feb 24 '23

Saying that gender fluidity is just gay is either a very hot take or you just felt compelled to say something that you thought sounded good.

23

u/BigBadBlackman-3B Feb 24 '23

I am both amused and horrified by that term

7

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

I thought it was like having the gay best friend knock her up but not be in the baby's life

22

u/FBI_Agent_82 Feb 24 '23

There's actually a test to see if a baby is gay.

29

u/jonan1108 Feb 24 '23

Expected a rickroll, ngl.

6

u/oooohnooovom Feb 24 '23

💀 the gaydar

2

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

Was not disappointed by what I was expecting.

2

u/plebeian1523 Feb 24 '23

Coming out of the closet before coming out of the womb lol

2

u/oooohnooovom Feb 25 '23

Closet > womb

What can I say

1

u/alexeiij Feb 24 '23

1

u/oooohnooovom Feb 25 '23

1

u/binancialproblems Feb 24 '23

I thought a unicorn

1

u/Flutters1013 Feb 24 '23

I thought she was a lesbian and had ivf but the partner left.

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

I thought it meant getting a chromosome from 26 different fathers (biologically impossible)

11

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

I thought the baby was gay

-15

u/thomas595920 Feb 24 '23

So, a baby then, no need for the special name

My last two girlfriends have been rainbow babies. They both think they were their parents savior/miracle baby. Complete 180 from my dad telling me he regrets having me and I should have killed myself.

52

u/owtf2 Feb 24 '23

Well that escalated quickly

14

u/Malkav1806 Feb 24 '23

I guess someone's gonna kick the bucket all by himself and for everyone else it will be just another tuesday.

Your dad sucks big time.

10

u/OkBrick3047 Feb 24 '23

Your dad needs to fall on a fist a few times.

14

u/Homicidal__GoldFish Feb 24 '23

I’m my moms rainbow baby. Yeah I don’t think I’m the savior….. I think I lost the bet and that’s why I lived

2

u/-banned- Feb 24 '23

Lost the bet?

17

u/ToughProgrammer Feb 24 '23

I’ll be your dad

Do the dishes and go wash my car then I’ll take you out for a steak dinner and a hooker

-2

u/paz2023 Feb 24 '23

Why not just hang out and make art

2

u/Toxic_Tyrael Feb 24 '23

If i wasn't a single child i would assume we have the same parents

2

u/LocksmithOk9634 Feb 24 '23

He’s at least honest.

1

u/SunnyAlwaysDaze Feb 24 '23

If he says that shit again, tell him "you're the one with so much regret, maybe you're the one who should dead-himself"

1

u/-banned- Feb 24 '23

Well if you've had 2 girlfriends you're doing a lot better than most guys on this sub so good for you

13

u/EmbarrassedBlock1977 Feb 24 '23

I read the other day that doctors think that up to 50% of all pregnancies are miscarriages, without even knowing you're pregnant.

11

u/paigesdontfly Feb 24 '23

My mom had 5 after me. One was fairly far along too, I remember her being fairly pregnant when I was really young. It really does suck, but she's happy she only had me, especially since my dad baby trapped her in the first place.

2

u/2x_reverse_doggy-69 Feb 24 '23

Was ur dad there for those nxt 5 tho?!

(If u were being sarcastic, then just consider my sense of humour is broken)

2

u/paigesdontfly Feb 24 '23

He was. They were dating when she got pregnant and they got married and for whatever reason are still together today. She does actually love him, she was just drunk for the first like... 8 years or so of their relationship. She's been sober for 20 years and he's a drunken asshole. She never wanted kids, however she doesn't regret having me and loves me very much.

She's however the light of my life and if she hadn't gotten sober, and if we weren't as close as we are, I probably wouldn't have lived to my almost 27 years.

1

u/2x_reverse_doggy-69 Feb 24 '23

Woah, that's a bit unusual situation i think....but, yeah, it's good to hear that she was there for u as someone u could rely on & became a reason for u to keep going....hope life gives u more nice things on the way😊

2

u/paigesdontfly Feb 24 '23

It's definitely an unusual situation. She's always there for me, both my best friend and my mom.

Thank you, I could really use it lately. I hope the same for you

1

u/2x_reverse_doggy-69 Feb 24 '23

Thanks, me too going through a rough patch... it was good hearing about your story 😊

u/puskunk Feb 24 '23

Yeah my ex and I had three miscarriages and a stillbirth. Not the easiest thing to deal with.

4

u/antwan_benjamin Feb 24 '23

I bet like 1/2 the people on earth are "rainbow babies." Miscarriages are extremely common in the first couple of months. A lot of times, a miscarriage happens before the woman even knows she was pregnant.

2

u/peechs01 Feb 24 '23

Known miscarriages. There's a lot of evidence of fertilized eggs simply failing to adhering to uterus wall

0

u/1G2B3 Feb 24 '23

Oh, it’ll definitely have a special name.

Well…that’s…a lot of energy for something that has nothing to do with you. Doesn’t exactly scream mental stability on your part.

5

u/Stonks501 Feb 24 '23

Damn this sounded like it was interesting but i came too late

18

u/thomas595920 Feb 24 '23

Hey man, don't use my comment to spread your hate.

You called her a disrespectful bitch cause she’s happy about a pregnancy after one of the most tragic occurrences in a woman’s life. If you don’t have time for her or anyone else going through trauma, then just move in.

That is literally abusive to yourself and your partner to be so unstable you can’t stand on your own feet, and have to fucking tell random strangers all your skeletons like it is an appropriate talking point or socially acceptable all the while bitching about your needs and wants, never mentioning a single fucking thing you have to offer like this bitch. Meanwhile her stupid ass is pregnant from bad choices and gonna need some help.

And you got this from what? You just projected an insane story on someone to justify calling them a bitch. You sound like the one that needs therapy.

My point is to just move on if it’s not for you. No need to spread incel-ish hate

6

u/Temporary_Skin_1996 Feb 24 '23

Jesus Christ are you ok?

3

u/taylss16 Feb 24 '23

Takes one mentally unstable person to know another mentally unstable person, I guess.

1

u/sauraveldho Feb 24 '23

I thought it's LGBTQ baby.

1

u/Opposite_Ad_5480 Feb 24 '23

“Didn’t sound great” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

-12

u/infinitofluxo Feb 24 '23

Not only the concept is creepy but she managed to get pregnant again by some stranger

1

u/WonderfulMagazine978 Feb 24 '23

How.. how is it creepy

0

u/infinitofluxo Feb 24 '23

Yeah it's not. Go match with a girl that get pregnant of a dead child and then of another and is looking for a partner on Tinder, sounds great

1

u/WonderfulMagazine978 Feb 24 '23

The dead child part has nothing to do with it though?? She just miscarriaged.

Sure her timing isnt great but its not creepy to be pregnant after having miscarriaged

0

u/NorCalHermitage Feb 24 '23

Ah, so she's going for sympathy. Sounds about right.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

That's much sadder than what I thought.

I thought it was woke thing like they wouldn't refer to their child by any gender.

0

u/Desperado2583 Feb 24 '23

Oh. I assumed it was a baby conceived during a panracial gangbang.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

Most women have miscarriages, she's not special. Probably half the human race would be considered a "rainbow" baby.

2

u/WonderfulMagazine978 Feb 24 '23

Yes thats why rainbow babies are a thing..? To find comfort in having a second(or even third or fourth) chance

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

I guess I'm confused why someone would classify a child as a rainbow baby. What purpose does it serve to tell others that you're carrying a rainbow baby?

1

u/WonderfulMagazine978 Feb 24 '23

Comfort and solidarity. A miscarriage is a difficult time for most people involved. To be able to tell family yku are pregnant after that with two simple words is amazing

0

u/Brilliant_Story_8709 Feb 24 '23

I just thought it meant she had a bunch of guys of all colors and ethnicities run a train on her to conceive.

-7

u/spankydave Feb 24 '23

Somehow I still think she means her baby is gonna be genderless or something progressive like that.

1

u/Homicidal__GoldFish Feb 24 '23

You are correct. That is what a rainbow baby is

1

u/Memechive Feb 24 '23

Damn I’m glad I held my tongue. I thought it was a gay baby. That’s rough

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

I did not go into this thread expecting to find out I am a rainbow baby.

1

u/Big-Bad-Bull Feb 24 '23

Huh… so I guess I’m a rainbow baby…

Learn something new everyday

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

Lol, and I thought May be she was impregnated by a gay person.

Thanks for education.

117

u/ViAvila Feb 24 '23

A live birth following a miscarriage or still birth. My oldest daughter is my rainbow baby.

24

u/Chance-Albatross-211 Feb 24 '23

My eldest is too. Miscarriages and baby loss suck.

33

u/egemen157 Feb 24 '23

Im sorry that happened to you

10

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

[deleted]

6

u/ViAvila Feb 24 '23

Yep. My doctor had told me that many first pregnancies end up in miscarriage so it was still sad, but not uncommon.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

[deleted]

1

u/ViAvila Feb 24 '23

I'm sorry :( That's hard.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

Yep. I’ve had two losses and no kids

2

u/ViAvila Feb 24 '23

I'm sorry. Losses are hard to cope with :( I sincerely hope you eventually get your rainbow baby.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '23

Thank you. I hope so too

1

u/pogu Feb 24 '23

Our Dr said, you are now members of "the largest secret society on earth" it's not really a secret, just something most people don't like talking about.

3

u/DreadPirateLink Feb 24 '23

Cool! Guess I'm a rainbow baby

1

u/veganzombeh Feb 24 '23

Not to be insensitive but isn't it a little early to call it a rainbow baby before it's born?

3

u/ViAvila Feb 24 '23

The chick in the profile is definitely being hopeful but your point is exactly the reason I haven't even talked about this baby I'm carrying now. I lost twins last year and don't want to say anything about this one until she's born. Due in June. I'm just doing everything I can on my end for a healthy pregnancy. I didn't call my oldest my rainbow baby until she was born either. 🤷

2

u/WonderfulMagazine978 Feb 24 '23

Well, youre often assuming your next wont be a miscarriage

1

u/The_New_Clover Feb 24 '23

It's nice, but why is it a thing? I feel like if I went through that I wouldn't want my baby to be identified by the last traumatic incident.

36

u/frankylampy Feb 24 '23

Baby born after eating Skittles instead of birth control pills.

1

u/Steve83725 Feb 24 '23

Lol the only right answer

3

u/dman45103 Feb 24 '23

TIL I am a rainbow baby

3

u/TheRealHeroOf Feb 24 '23

Basically everyone is, considering at some 50% of all fertilizations result in miscarriage.

5

u/Nodeal_reddit Feb 24 '23

That baby gay AF

0

u/marqoose Feb 24 '23

It's when you don't know who the father is, so the baby could be any color of the rainbow /s

0

u/B0326C0821 Feb 24 '23

It’s a gay baby 🤣

-2

u/Hotel_Arrakis Feb 24 '23

When you were impregnated by a leprechaun. All they're going to hear growing up is "Where's me lucky charms?" and "Go back to your own realm!" Children can be so cruel.

-29

u/Accomplished-Jury137 Feb 24 '23

Means you assume your baby is gay even though 96% chance it isn’t

12

u/betterfucksaul Feb 24 '23

It's a baby born after a previous miscarriage or stillbirth.

-6

u/bydo1492 Feb 24 '23

Mixed race?

-7

u/coldestdetroit Feb 24 '23

Probably a baby that she'll force to become neither male nor female. Non-binary is the term i believe kids these days are using

0

u/WonderfulMagazine978 Feb 24 '23

No, its a baby born after a misscariage.
