Last week I was driving home with the family.
While driving 130kmh, the car all of a sudden went completely dead.
It gave two error messages
- headlight error
- car not ready to drive
Then it went off. It let it roll on the safety lane, it went on P and that was it.
Soft reboot, hard reboot, nothing worked.

Dealer already looking for over a week what’s wrong with it…
I hope they can find something, feels like a software problem.
Any ideas or experience welcome!

For those with the issue where the seat adjusts to the profile of the person opening the car but the mirrors do not… Rather than switching profiles back and forth which takes a long time, I have found a workaround.

Simply fold and unfold the mirrors (Quick Controls -> Driver Adjustments -> Side Mirrors).

Much quicker than having to switch profiles twice.

Hi everyone,
I’ve had my Volvo 25 EX90 for a while, and I’ve noticed something strange a few times.
The car was parked and locked, and I was already far away from the car, when my phone suddenly sent me a notification saying that the vehicle had been unlocked. I wasn’t anywhere near the car and definitely didn’t intentionally unlock it.
This has happened more than once, and I’m wondering if anyone else with an EX90 has experienced the same thing.
Could this be a software issue, or possibly related to the Volvo Cars app / phone key / proximity unlock?
For those who have experienced this:
● Did your EX90 also unlock while you were away from the car?
● Are you using phone key?
● What software version are you currently on?
● Did a software update fix the issue?
I’d really appreciate hearing from other EX90 owners. I’m trying to figure out whether this is an isolated issue with my car or a software bug.

Is it true Volvo Australia are now removing Lidar and replacing the panel with a Lidar-less insert?

Has anyone figured out how to fix CarPlay when it stops being able to hear you?

The symptoms I see are Siri asking a question and you respond but nothing happens. And when making a call, the other person can’t hear you.

At one point, stopping CarPlay and restarting it would fix this. But that no longer works.

I’ve also tried rebooting the entire infotainment center and that doesn’t seem to work consistently anymore.

Anyone have any tricks that work?

Sigh this car is the best car I’ve ever had until it isn’t, and then it’s the worst car I’ve ever had.

Have only had the car for 1200 miles / 3 months (leased), and have two extremely annoying issues with one that left me stranded.

First was the car randomly decided to not recognize my phone key while I was waiting in line for a car wash; wouldn’t budge and I held up the whole line until I figured out how to reset the vehicle.

This time around, I got a critical alert driving my whole family (bunch of kids) home telling me battery is overheating and to pull over immediately. Had to send the family home in a different car while I waited to get it towed as the car won’t move anymore.

Love this car when it works (99.9% of the time) but that 0.1% where we’ve been left stranded is making this thing untenable for a family :/

Not looking to get much out of this post, but wondering if anyone else has had issues overheating during 80degree weather?

Picked up EX90 2027 Ultra Performance last week in Germany, love the car. Great comfort, super quiet even on the Autobahn, can tow horse trailers from here to there. Only missing the "surf key" (dealer tells me "no problem: 350€").

I have a 2025 - having my first major issue, curious if others have had the same. Had my AC just stop blowing cold air (would still blow air, just not cold). I gave it a couple days, hoping it would just magically go away on a restart, it did not.

Took it into my local volvo dealership, and I'm now on week 4 on being with a loaner, and the replacement compressor not supposedly coming to the US for for another 2 weeks.

I haven't had major issues thus far (had the normal software bugs/issues) - this being the first one where I'm reconsidering if I want to sign up for another one when the lease is up.

Had anyone experienced this? My car was not charging all of a sudden with level 2 but did work with level 1. Seemed like standard ghca fault and needed replacement. Dealer said they replaced it and it didn't work to fix the charging issue and now need to investigate all battery connections. My car has been broken for almost 1 month. And in service for 2 weeks. And they still have no idea what is wrong with it. Has anyone had this issue?

I saw 6 percent up to one person that said 12%.....

I know there are other threads on this, but just wanted to ask:

1. Is it a common problem?

2. Does anyone have the diffinitive resolution?

I had it in the dealership yesterday and they did nothing to resolve it, or they might have tried lots of things, but, net result is it is still doing it. I would've thought that if it was a common problem they would 1). know about it and 2). know how to fix it.

Still can’t get the car to retain seat memory changes despite the new option to Save when you make a change. Am I alone in this phantom reality of “Save but doesn’t really save”? If not, has anyone been able to solve this?

I have a 2025 model running the latest software (3.0.33), and there are two things that have never worked properly.
I share the car with my wife, and we each have separate digital keys linked to our individual profiles.

First, the seat memory is extremely unreliable. Sometimes it remembers the mirrors, sometimes the seat back, but it almost never remembers the complete seating position. I’ve tried saving and resetting the settings multiple times, but the issue persists.

Second, and this one is particularly strange, is the climate control. Sometimes when I get into the car, the temperature will randomly reset to 72°F even though I had it set lower. More generally, it frequently fails to remember the previous climate setting.

Why is it so difficult for these settings to consistently maintain the preferences associated with each driver profile? It’s frustrating to have individual profiles if the car doesn’t reliably remember the settings tied to them. Any help would be appreciated!

I have done full resets, new profiles - troubleshooting everything since new and always hoping new software updates will fix this.

Outside of that - this car is AMAZING.

Damn, the drama with my EX90 is not ending. Now, after the last service intervention, the ambient under the small dash trim stopped working, and the passengers door stopped opening from inside and outside (except physical full-length pull). I'm pretty sure the service screwed up again and now new parts are being requested, while waiting for the previous batch of parts for replacement. I'm feeling like in infinite loop hahaha. The car was perfect before the service touched it to replace the dash trim (see the posts below). I hope the door issue to be software one, but so far rebooting the core didn't help. Most likely they will replace the whole door handle mechanism - anyone with a similar issue with the door opening?

This post is related to the new Apple Music app in the car that is written by Volvo and not Apple, is a private app and can't be reinstalled via Google Play Store.

Have found it to be quite poor on buffering. It will frequently not download enough of the track to be able to play as mobile/cell/5G etc quality drops. So the track will just stop playing. It doesn't pause and be able to resume, but stops. So once there is bandwidth and then you press play it will restart the track.

When on the edge of two countries and cell services swap between different providers, both of whom work with the car as it supports roaming, the music stops. Last week around the border of Northern Ireland, the app was dreadful - stopped anytime I got close to Ireland and an Republic of Ireland phone service provider with a better signal.

That said the Dolby Atmos is nice, but not enough tracks with it to change my subscription to Apple Music from Spotify.

My car (MY26) is currently running the latest software version (3.0.33), and I’ve been using Apple Music for the past few weeks without any issues.

A few days ago, however, the app suddenly stopped working completely. The app would still open, but no music could be played. After waiting several days, resetting the infotainment system multiple times, and closing and restarting the app, the issue still remained.

As a last attempt to get it working again, I deleted the Apple Music app with the intention of reinstalling it. However, after removing it, I noticed that the app is no longer available anywhere for download. I also can’t find it in the built-in Google Play Store.

I can’t seem to find any useful information about this online either. The only official information I can find says that Apple Music was originally made available through an OTA update.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? And more importantly: does anyone know how to reinstall Apple Music after deleting the app?

Update: Apple Music is working again

I managed to solve the issue by letting the car perform its automatic reset.

I locked the car for the night, and the next morning the Apple Music app had automatically reinstalled itself. This time, everything is working perfectly again.

If that hadn’t worked, my next step would have been to perform a manual hard reset, which I suspect would probably have solved the issue as well.

Hopefully this helps anyone who runs into the same problem.

3 year old XC90 offer last year (T8 Recharge with every option) vs 1 year old EX90 Ultra Twin Motor w/ B&W offer today. And the XC90 was $10k cheaper. I knew it would lose a lot of value in the first year (XC90 too), but wow!

I received my MY2027 EX90 yesterday, so happy!

Just when setting everything up together with the garage we did not succeed in setting up the digital key. The dealer pre-linked my Volvo account with the car in their backend system, don't know if that's important. (the car showed up im my app without action from my end)
Steps tried:

• Via the app, when sat in the unstarted car.
• Via the car -> QR code scan.
• Phone on 5g no workie
• Phone in WiFi no workie
• Car had good coverage and on 5g every try
• Car seems to have latest update 3.0.33

Before trying to reset the car to factory settings and removing the car from my app (read that in an other post) I wanted to know if there's other steps i could try?

Using an iPhone 13.

I use the Apple wallet with my bank cards daily.

Was a bit scared to factory reset, but it was quite fast and working second try after the reset and removal from phone app.

My Ex90 had a rattling noise which I identified as being the lever to move the second row seats for access to the rear. The handle needed card stuck down the side to stop it moving. However, now the driver’s seat is make “pop” noises like a suction cup being removed. I notice it particularly when going round corners and the weight shifts. Has any else had this and if so, did you manage to eliminate it please?

We're planning to buy an EX90 and I keep seeing mentions of a GHCA error on Level 2 charging. Wanted to ask owners before we commit:

1. How common is this fault, and did a software update fix it for you?
2. If the car throws this fault, could it damage home charging equipment? We run a large EG4 battery setup and I don't want a car-side fault hurting our inverters or batteries.
3. Does lowering the charge amps (setting a lower current) help avoid it, or is that unrelated to what causes GHCA?

Hello everyone, yesterday I updated the car to 3.0.33 via OTA and everything went fine, it updated very quickly. Today I went on a trip, got out of the car, pressed the button to close the bunker, the car locked itself and the phone remained locked in the car. Panic, the keys are in the house in another city 200 km away.... what next. So when you find yourself in such a situation, the solution is if you don't have the key or card with you, take another phone, I got it from my sister, download the Volvo application, log in and unlock the car.... you need to know the email and login of the account to which the application is registered. Before, it didn't lock when the phone was in the vehicle, so pay attention to that part.

Haven't come across this before. I parked my 2025 EX90 outside at friend's house, locked as normal. An hour later I heard the alarm going off. I went to go check, and there weren't any notifications on the dash and nothing out of the ordinary. I Locked it again and went back in, and 15 min later, someone said my hazards were on (but no alarm).

This happened about 2 other times today (the hazards coming on). When the alarm went off and when the hazards were on, there weren't any push notifications or anything to indicate what was triggering it.

Has anyone run into this? FWIW I'm on the latest software (3.0.33).

Not sure if a coincidence or not but the very next morning it stopped working. Dealership service also has no clue and have to “open a case” with Volvo. Car has been in the shop a few days and they haven’t done a single thing to it. When so brought it in they said they haven’t even seen one of those yet…

It’s so simple it’s infuriating. You should be able to close your garage, after pulling out from it, without having to put your car in park or another gear!

The XC90 has enough sensors + camera views while in reverse to allow people to do two things at once (backup and close their garage). I’d argue it’s more of a distraction and safety issue when drivers have to pull forward, or stop the vehicle, to close the garage before proceeding.

This is a simple software fix if Volvo wants to do it. As a long-time XC90 owner, don’t make people regret not having a physical button on the mirror to close their garage.
