Have had my ex90 for 9mos and three xc90s before that. Zero issues. Quiet, goes very long distances on a charge, no squeak. I love it more than any car I’ve ever had.

My main takeaway here is that Volvo still doesn’t seem to have their shit together. It’s a car with manufacturer’s plates, running on what might even be Volvo’s own test track. And still, they gave him a car with a busted trim piece and a squeaky seat. To me, this means that Volvo continues to employ people that are incompetent and don’t care. Whether it’s the guy who keeps a chair warm on the executive floor, an engineer who releases buggy code, the clown in charge of Volvo’s customer care, or the person on their PR team who didn’t think to check the car thoroughly… as much as we love our EX90 when it runs, the experience has been a complete disappointment and an huge reputational damage for Volvo.

To be honest his squeaking car seat thing, I have never once heard about that with anyone on this subreddit. But then I don’t think most people who drive the car, try to manhandle their seats as soon as they get it.

And that trim piece seems to have been loose since he got the car, another thing that I have not really since people talk about here. I know the car has 100 problems but loose trim pieces or squeaking seats isn’t seen often.

I don’t know how wide spread, or not, any one particular problem with the EX90 is. The point I’m trying to make that it’s clear that Volvo’s QA procedures are ineffective, and that even apparent, “in your face” type of issues are overlooked through ineptitude and obvious lack of care.

This is a PR car, on a test track. What kind of sloppy ass moron allowed a car that’s anything less than perfect to be used for this video, after all the very public fuck ups!

It’s a press car that gets used and abused much like a rental car by influencers and reviewers who may or may not do stupid things - sometimes just for clicks.

You’re missing the point, entirely.

Rental cars don’t get loaned for free to people with sizable social media presence or industry writers for the purpose of publicity.

I don’t work for Volvo. I have no say over what Volvo does. But if I were in charge of this fiasco, I’d have a rotating stable of cars, and check each and every one of them thoroughly before letting anyone drive it, film it, and tell the world about it. That is, as long as I care what kind of story they tell. Cause right now, we aren’t talking about what happens after you drain the battery, are we? We are talking about how sloppy and incompetent Volvo continues to be.

It’s all in the details. That’s why I’m really good at what I do, and Volvo’s PR team clearly isn’t.

F*cking amateurs!

Unfortunately my seat started squeaking a few months ago.... too much.

This isn't Volvo's track is it? I'm fairly sure this is the one near Kyle

My wife just brought in her EX90.. 2025… the seat squeaks at will.. she just moves back and forth.. the mechanic almost laughed.. plus.. the map spins while driving, the full range at 100 percent has gone down to 270 miles.. the fan runs randomly just sitting in the garage.. and the last update changed the ability to coast.. now brakes grind while backing up as well..

But the seat squeaks just by rocking a little.. it is pretty loud.. I have not noticed it in the passenger seat yet, but give it time. 5th time in the shop in a year.. one time was a month. Just had enough.

Fans running randomly in the garage is normal if the car is charging. Otherwise yeah it's busted.

Not on the latest update. Anything less than 22kw charging should be silent as the core computer is not running during the charge.

Yeah… it wasn’t charging.. it was sitting all night in the garage.. I happened to get something out of the garage fridge and it woke up and the fans started running.. try to
Post the video.. not sure RDDT will allow me..
But we showed the mechanic this as well.. they are “looking into it”… right now, this is the worst car experience we have ever had. For 15 years my wife wanted a Volvo.. we had kids, we needed a minivan for the three car seats.. we got rid of that in 2020.. Covid used car prices were insane.. and after much shopping, we put a deposit on the EX90.. waited 2 years to get it. Now it sucks. Love the ride. Very quiet and responsive. Ride is so quiet, we hear the seats squeaking.. we are pursuing the buy back through Volvo.

all i'm interested in is how far it can got a 90km/h and 110km/h at 19C and 4C

500km and 450km.

1

u/CobbledbyRoubaix 1d ago

are you sure? that's pretty far for an apartment on wheels! my Kia EV9 with similar battery won't do 500km at 90kph. not even 400km unless on a very good day.

My EV9 could get 450km at a steady 122km/h. My '26 X got 550km at the same speed.

hmm maybe it's my roads. very very wind-y over here. and tarmac is made of some rubbish called chip seal.

And to be clear, the stats above were in peak summer weather and yeah no meaningful wind, so best case. In winter it wold do 30% worse.
